* Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day broadcasts carries on annual tradition of the NFL on FOX presenting biggest games on biggest days

* The historic 30th season of the NFL on FOX is in 2023!

Following a dreamlike season in 2022 which saw FOX Sports produce the most-watched regular season game and most-watched Super Bowl of all-time, the network celebrates 30 seasons of NFL coverage with the disclosing of the broadcast schedule for the 2023 NFL season.

FOX will be the main home for the league's biggest affairs during the 18-week regular season calendar with a lineup that includes a league-high nine appearances from the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers. The NFL on FOX schedule includes at least 140 total appearances by NFC teams, and over 90% of NFL on FOX games feature at least one NFC team, continuing the network's time-honored tradition of presenting live coverage surrounding the teams in big and powerful markets.

FOX begins their 30th season on Sunday, September 10, with an exciting doubleheader headlined by the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears in America's Game of the Week -- the No. 1 show all of television the last 14 years.

Top America's Game of the Week matchups:
  • Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets (Week 6)
  • Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles (Week 9)
  • New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys (Week 10)
  • San Francisco 49ers at Philadelphia Eagles (Week 13) - NFC Championship re-match
  • Dallas Cowboys at Buffalo Bills (Week 15)
  • Dallas Cowboys at Miami Dolphins (Week 16)

NFL on FOX 2023 Regular Season Highlights:
  • FOX's well-established tradition of broadcasting from a military base installation on Veterans Day weekend continues this year as Giants battle the Cowboys on Sunday, November 12. The military base from which FOX NFL Kickoff and FOX NFL Sunday will originate from is set for announcement later on.
  • The traditional Thanksgiving Day game comes back with the stuffing and everything else on Thursday, November 23 at 12:30 PM (ET) as Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers takes on Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions.
  • FOX televises a Christmas Day game for the fourth straight season in 2023. The football loving fans across America will unwrap a traditional NFC East rivalry game as Saquon Barkley and the Giants visit Jalen Hurts and the Eagles on Monday, December 25 at 4:30 PM (ET).

Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play), Greg Olsen (analyst), Erin Andrews (reporter) & Tom Rinaldi (reporter) return for their second season (and probably last) together as FOX's lead broadcast team.

Starting in Week 3 (Sunday, September 24), I will be publishing weekly articles on this blog regarding the broadcast schedule and the market listings for the "NFL on FOX". So be sure to check those out! Links to these specific articles will be posted here.

The schedule improvements correspond in high profile teams, signature games, and key storylines.

All of these elements combine for the most-anticipated slate in the network's history.

NBC's Sunday Night Football, the top show in primetime for 12 straight seasons, returns for the 18th consecutive season during the 2023 NFL season.

Sunday Night Football in 2023 is highlighted by Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs raising their championship banner before facing Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions in NFL Kickoff 2023; Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers (hopefully!) facing off for the first time (Chiefs vs. Jets) in Week 4; an NFC Divisional Playoff rematch as CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys square off with Deebo Samuel and the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5; and concluding the pressure-cooker Week 18 regular season finale (recent terrific regular season finals: 2021 -- Chargers/Raiders, with Raiders winning in OT & 2022 -- Lions/Packers, as Detroit stunned the Packers in Aaron Rodgers' final game with the Packers). Then it is on to the postseason, where NBC Sports presents playoff coverage during the first two weekends.

For the first time ever, Peacock will exclusively televise a National Football League game as Stefon Diggs and the Buffalo Bills take on Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in a primetime contest of two of last season's AFC playoff teams on Saturday, December 23 at 8:00 PM (ET).

The Peacock-exclusive Bills vs. Chargers game will follow a special Saturday afternoon edition of Sunday Night Football on NBC earlier that day, Saturday, December 23. That game has Tee Higgins and the defending AFC North champions Cincinnati Bengals battle Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers from Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh at 4:30 PM (ET).

This season's SNF schedule is loaded with the league's top signal callers, 10 matchups featuring last year's playoff entrants, and a SNF-high three appearances from the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys.

On NBC and Peacock, NBC Sports is scheduled to televise 20 regular-season games, including 18 Sunday Night Football games, NFL Kickoff 2023, and the annual Thanksgiving game at night (49ers vs. Seahawks). For the first time, Peacock will exclusively televise a regular-season affair. NBC Sports will also have four playoff games on NBC and Peacock, including three games on Wild Card weekend (Saturday, January 13 & Sunday, January 14) and a Divisional Playoff game the following weekend (Saturday, January 20 or Sunday, January 21). The preseason will begin on NBC and Peacock on Thursday, August 3, with coverage of the annual Hall of Fame Game as the Jets take on the Browns in this year's edition from Canton, Ohio. In all, NBC Sports has 26 NFL games on this docket this year.

The SNF announce team of Mike Tirico (play-by-play), Cris Collinsworth (analyst) & Melissa Stark (reporter) return for their second season together.

Once again, all Sunday Night Football games will kickoff at 8:20 p.m. (ET) this year, unless otherwise noted.

* CBS Sports' schedule features star quarterbacks playing in the AFC, including Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City), Joe Burrow (Cincinnati), Aaron Rodgers (NY Jets), Josh Allen (Buffalo) & Lamar Jackson (Baltimore)

* Super Bowl LVII champion Chiefs to play at least 8 CBS games, more than double than any other network

* Multiple national game window appearances by Cowboys, Bills, Bengals, Eagles and Jets

CBS Sports has officially announced their schedule for the upcoming 2023 NFL season. CBS begins their 64th season of covering National Football League games. CBS' 2023 NFL schedule is highlighted by exclusive coverage of Super Bowl LVIII from Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Super Bowl LVIII will mark the 22nd time that CBS will televise the league's championship game, the most of any network.

The 2023 regular season slate on CBS, with more than 100 games during the 18 week regular season, is headlined by highly anticipated matchups in the Sunday 4:25 PM (ET) national doubleheader window, the most-watched window in all of television. A brief sampling of featured late games include the AFC Championship between Cincinnati and Kansas City in Week 17, the Jets visiting the Cowboys in Week 2, Buffalo at Kansas City in Week 14, and Philadelphia hosting Buffalo during Week 12 (Thanksgiving weekend).

Last year's Super Bowl champion, the Kansas City Chiefs, have at least eight CBS games scheduled during the regular season. This number is more than double than any other network. The Chiefs have six in the coveted 4:25 PM ET window alongside their Christmas Day game (1:00 PM ET) vs. the Raiders. Among the teams pegged for the national NFL on CBS doubleheader games are the Cowboys, Bills, Bengals and Jets. Plus, the 2023 schedule includes an enlarged NFC slate with multiple games featuring the Eagles, Cowboys, Giants, Bears, Packers and 49ers.

The NFL on CBS will continue to serve as the primary home for the American Football Conference (AFC), which contains a star-studded group of signal callers, including Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs), Josh Allen (Bills), Joe Burrow (Bengals), Lamar Jackson (Ravens), Justin Herbert (Chargers), Trevor Lawrence (Jaguars), Aaron Rodgers (Jets), in addition to two top-five draft picks at QB: Houston's C.J. Stroud and Indianapolis' Anthony Richardson.

Additionally, the NFL on CBS will feature divisional rivalry games on Thanksgiving (Commanders vs. Cowboys) and Christmas (Raiders vs. Chiefs) as well as a full postseason slate, including the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LVIII.

The NFL on CBS' 2023 regular season schedule begins on Sunday, September 10 with a national doubleheader. CBS will have 10 doubleheader slots (4:25 PM, ET) throughout the year. The 2023 schedule is bookended with doubleheaders at the start and end of the year (Week 1 & Week 2; Week 17 & Week 18). The Week 1 CBS doubleheader game at 4:25 PM ET is a re-match of Super Bowls XXXIX and LII as DeVonta Smith and the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles face Kendrick Bourne and the New England Patriots. The Patriots plan on honoring legendary quarterback Tom Brady on that day.

This year's doubleheader window is spotlighted by the re-match of the last two AFC Championship games in Week 17 (Bengals vs. Chiefs). Also, keep in mind that CBS also has other important games at the 4:25 PM time slot -- Jets at Cowboys (Week 2), Bengals at 49ers (Week 8), Jets at Bills (Week 11), Bills at Eagles (Week 12) & Bills at Chiefs (Week 14).

CBS will celebrate the holidays by presenting games on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

CBS will be the home of the Thanksgiving Day game between the Washington Commanders and the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, November 23 at 4:30 PM (ET).

On Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, CBS Sports and Nickelodeon will team up to deliver a special Christmas gift to football fans of all ages as Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders visit Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at 1:00 PM (ET). In addition to the traditional CBS broadcast, Nickelodeon will air an NFL game for the fourth straight season.

CBS' NFL coverage will be once again be led by the #1 broadcast team of Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (analyst) & Tracy Wolfson (reporter), as this trio will call CBS' biggest games of the year, including Super Bowl LVIII. The network has more than 100+ games on the docket, including 18 weeks of regular season action, a Wild Card playoff game (Saturday, January 13 or Sunday, January 14), a Divisional playoff game (Saturday, January 20 or Sunday, January 21), the AFC Championship (Sunday, January 28) and Super Bowl LVIII from Las Vegas (Sunday, February 11).

CBS will also have one preseason game with the Lions visiting the Panthers on Friday, August 25 at 8:00 PM (ET).

Keep in mind, folks, that Greg Gumbel will no longer be calling NFL games after doing so for the past 25 years on CBS (Gumbel, however, will remain with CBS Sports as a studio host for college basketball). Gumbel will be replaced by Chris Lewis.

NOTE: As a side note, I am starting up a weekly broadcast and market listings report! Beginning in Week 3, I will post weekly articles showcasing the weekly broadcast information and which markets are set to receive which games, so y'all can plan your football Sundays.
