  • NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC returns for its' 8th season beginning on Saturday, December 10 when the Boston Celtics visit the Golden State Warriors in 2022 NBA Finals rematch
The 2022-23 NBA schedule was officially released on Wednesday by the National Basketball Association (NBA). And with that, we now have the broadcast schedule for the NBA on ABC this year.

ABC will televise 20 regular season matchups this season, including games on Christmas Day. Plus, ABC's two signature NBA packages: NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC and NBA Sunday Showcase return to ABC's NBA lineup again this season. This season marks the 21st season of NBA coverage on ABC. ABC's schedule features the league's most marquee franchises and top players.

ABC begins their 2022-23 regular season game coverage on Saturday, December 10 as Stephen Curry and the Warriors host Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics at 8:30 PM (ET). Boston at Golden State marks the start of ABC's 8th season of NBA Saturday Primetime. Plus, Celtics vs. Warriors is a rematch of the 2022 NBA Finals. NBA Saturday Primetime, which started back in the 2015-16 NBA season, serves as ABC's marquee national broadcast of the week, with this window providing top-tier teams and players the opportunity to play in front of a national audience.

ABC's coverage continues on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, with five games (which will be also simulcasted on ESPN). The Christmas Day coverage begins at 12:00 PM (ET) when Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers battle Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks. Coverage continues at 2:30 PM (ET) when LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers visit Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. The full slate of games continues at 5:00 PM (ET) with a conference semifinal re-match from last season - the Milwaukee Bucks, led by Giannis Antetokoumnpo and Khris Middleton vs. the Boston Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The primetime game at 8:00 PM (ET) has another re-match from last season's conference semifinal round - the Memphis Grizzlies, led by Ja Morant making their first-ever Christmas Day appearance against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. The late night game at 10:30 PM (ET) features Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns squaring off with Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets. The Phoenix-Denver matchup will mark the first time that ABC has ever carried a 10:30 PM (ET) game during the network's current 21-year history televising NBA games.

NBA Saturday Primetime showcases a rare broadcast tripleheader Saturday, January 28 with Saturday's games as part of "NBA Rivals" Week: Denver Nuggets vs. Philadelphia 76ers (3:00 PM, ET), New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets (5:30 PM, ET) & Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics (8:30 PM, ET).

Two weeks later, LeBron James and Stephen Curry, two players that have played a important and significant role in the league's history, face off once more on Saturday, February 11 at 8:30 PM (ET) in that week's edition of NBA Saturday Primetime.

Every ABC broadcast of the NBA will be completely exclusive, meaning that teams' local broadcasters will not be allowed to broadcast a local telecast alongside the national ABC one.

Starting this season, ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith, analyst on ESPN's NBA Countdown and co-host of ESPN's First Take, will front alternate presentations of select NBA games. The alternate presentation, called NBA in Stephen A's World, will debut on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. (ET) on ESPN2, with the Nets-Bucks game (with the traditional Brooklyn-Milwaukee telecast on ESPN itself). All NBA in Stephen A's World alternate presentations will be aired on ESPN2 and ESPN+, in addition to the traditional game telecast on ESPN.
