The WNBA gets an innovate path towards the future with a television pact between the Walt Disney Company (ABC/ESPN), NBCUniversal (NBC/Peacock) & Amazon Prime Video, beginning in 2026

Tuesday, December 17, 2024

Highlights:
  • The Walt Disney Company (ABC/ESPN/ESPN2, etc.), NBCUniversal (NBC, USA Network, Peacock) & Amazon Prime Video to carry more than 125 WNBA games each year beginning with the 2026 season.
  • WNBA Finals to rotate between The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal & Amazon Prime Video.

Earlier this year, the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) disclosed the fact that they are re-upping with the Walt Disney Company and Amazon Prime Video, alongside a new media rights deal with NBCUniversal. Starting with the 2026 season and running through the 2036 season, Disney will transmit WNBA contests on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2 and stream them on ESPN's forthcoming direct-to-consumer (DTC) service. NBCUniversal will air their WNBA games on NBC, USA Network and/or Peacock. Amazon will stream games on Amazon Prime Video.

With the new WNBA media rights now accounted for, the three media partners will dispense more than 125 regular-season and playoff games nationally each year, including a minimum of 25 regular season contests on a Disney platform of some kind, 50 regular season games across NBCUniversal platforms and 30 regular season matchups on Prime Video.

Additionally, this newly created WNBA media landscape will give fans an inside look throughout the course of the WNBA Playoffs and Finals. Disney will have two first-round series each season while NBCUniversal and Amazon Prime Video will get one first-round series each season. The Semifinals and Finals will rotate over the course of the 11-year pact, with Disney getting eight Semifinals series and five Finals, and Prime Video and NBCUniversal each transmitting seven Semifinals series and three Finals.

As part of the new media television deals, Disney platforms will continue to possess the events of WNBA All-Star, including the All-Star Game, and the WNBA Draft, while Prime Video will continue to stream the Championship Game of the WNBA Commissioner's Cup presented by Coinbase.

The following are quotes from several key people involved in putting this new WNBA media rights deal together and ultimately to the finish line (this starts in Summer 2026, with ESPN remaining the primary [and main] partner until then).

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert:
“Partnering with Disney, Amazon and NBCU marks a monumental chapter in WNBA history and clearly demonstrates the significant rise in value and the historic level of interest in women’s basketball,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert.  “These agreements allow the league to continue to build a long-term and sustainable growth model for the future of women’s basketball and sports which will benefit WNBA players, teams and fans.”

ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro:
“We’re proud of our highly productive and collaborative partnership with the WNBA since the league’s inception in 1997,” said ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro.  “Through our marquee collection of rights, which includes the WNBA Finals, we will continue to play an important role in the league’s extraordinary growth trajectory while fueling ESPN’s digital future and super-serving fans as only we can.”

Comcast Corporation President Mike Cavanagh:
“As the home of the first-ever nationally televised WNBA game, we are excited to have the league return to NBCUniversal’s platforms,” said Mike Cavanagh, President of Comcast Corporation.  “We look forward to showcasing the talented players and teams that continue to grow the popularity of the WNBA, while further bolstering NBCU’s lineup of premium women’s sports.”

Prime Video Global Head of Sports Jay Marine:
“We’ve been partners with and believers in the WNBA over the last four seasons, and could not be more excited to expand our relationship so significantly with this landmark agreement,” said Jay Marine, Global Head of Sports for Prime Video.  “The league’s recent surge in popularity is of no surprise to us, as these incredible athletes continue to raise the bar and electrify fans.  We’re looking forward to providing Prime members around the world with increased access to the W’s biggest events as more and more fans gravitate toward the sport.”

The recently developed new media rights deals come at a very important time in the WNBA's history. The 2024 season marked the most consequential season in the WNBA's nearly 30-year history up to this point. This season the league brought in most of the highly anticipated rookies in recent memory such as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, among others. Plus, the WNBA is expanding to new markets over the next few years, with the Golden State Valkyries beginning play in 2025 and the Toronto Tempo and yet to be named expansion team in Portland starting in 2026.

  • Fox is on Santa's Nice List: On Sunday, December 22, Fox has two games that have a significant impact towards the playoff picture - Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles (12-2) look to wrap up the NFC East against Jayden Daniels and Washington Commanders (9-5(1:00 PM ET) & Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings (12-2) look to pace for the NFC's #1 seed against DK Metcalf and the Seattle Seahawks (8-6) (4:05 PM ET). An early Christmas present indeed.
  • Several teams take the field across Fox's Week 16 game lineup playing in meaningful games, including - the Cardinals (7-7), the Falcons (7-7), the Vikings (12-2), the Seahawks (8-6), the Eagles (12-2), the Lions (12-2) & the Commanders (9-5), among others.
  • Fox to preview Saturday's Steelers vs. Ravens game with "FOX NFL Pregame" at 4:00 PM ET and offer a postgame show after the game (7:30 PM ET); Fox to look at Sunday's Week 16 slate on "FOX NFL Kickoff" at 11:00 AM ET followed by "FOX NFL Sunday" at 12:00 PM ET.

Happy holidays, everyone! Welcome to the Week 16 edition of the NFL on FOX: Field Pass. For this week's edition, we will discuss the following topics: the weekly NFL on FOX broadcast schedule, commentator assignments and distribution splits. A note to bring up before we talk about the football content for this week. This Saturday, December 21, Fox will be televising a special Saturday game as Kyle Hamilton and the Baltimore Ravens host Patrick Queen and the Pittsburgh Steelers in a pivotal divisional confrontation in the AFC North.

Then on Sunday, December 22, Fox will furnish regional coverage of one of the following games - Eagles at Commanders (1:00 PM ET), Giants at Falcons (1:00 PM ET), Cardinals at Panthers (1:00 PM ET), Lions at Bears (1:00 PM ET) and Vikings at Seahawks (4:05 PM ET). Check your local listings or later on in my story to find out which game you will be receiving coupled with the assigned broadcast team for the matchup.

With that introduction out of the way, let's get into this week's NFL on FOX schedule.

Saturday: "FOX NFL Pregame" (4:00 PM ET):
Before live coverage of the Steelers vs. Ravens game begins on Saturday, December 21, please join the "FOX NFL Sunday" crew for a special "FOX NFL Pregame" program at 4:00 PM ET on Fox. The program will be co-hosted by Curt Menefee and Terry Bradshaw. In addition to Menefee & Bradshaw, Hall of Famers Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan and Howie Long join as analysts to provide their expert opinions. Jay Glazer serves as the "insider" and gives viewers updates from around the league.

"FOX NFL Pregame' will also encompasses interviews with important NFL people, predictions for the Steelers-Ravens game, the latest news and feature stories to help football fans get closer to the game that they love.

Saturday: Steelers vs. Ravens (4:30 PM ET):
Calvin Austin III and the AFC North leading Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4) line up with Brandon Stephens and the Baltimore Ravens (9-5) on Saturday, December 21 at 4:30 PM ET on Fox. The Steelers look to rebound following a tough 27-13 loss to the Eagles last week. The Ravens got a much-needed win last Sunday vs. the Giants, taking that game by a final score of 35-14. If the Steelers win this game, they will clinch the AFC North championship. A Ravens victory allows them to stay alive in the AFC North race and clinch a postseason berth. Needless to say, this game is a big one for both sides. The Steelers picked up their eighth victory over the Ravens in nine chances back in Week 11, 18-16. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson allowed himself to stay in the MVP race after tossing five touchdowns against the Giants last week. Steelers LB T.J. Watt accomplished his 25th career game at least two sacks last week in the loss to the Eagles. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson ranks second in the league with 34 touchdown throws this year. 🎙 Saturday's Steelers-Ravens holiday special will be televised nationally on Fox, as Kevin Burkhardt calls the play-by-play alongside analyst and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, field reporter Erin Andrews and field reporter Tom Rinaldi.

Saturday: "FOX NFL Postgame" (7:30 PM ET):
Following the Steelers vs. Ravens game, the studio team of Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson & Jay Glazer will rejoin the broadcast to offer a final word about the happenings of the late afternoon Saturday broadcast.

Sunday, Pregame: "FOX NFL Kickoff presented by Little Casears" (11:00 AM ET):
Start your football Sundays on Fox with the right way with "FOX NFL Kickoff presented by Little Casears" at 11:00 AM ET. Host Charissa Thompson anchors the one-hour studio show from Los Angeles with a decorated, celebrated, and respected group of analysts that includes four-time Pro Bowler Michael Vick, Hall of Famer Charles Woodson and three-time Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman. Peter Schrager joins the cast as the "insider", providing pertinent NFL news and information. Furthermore, Cooper Manning and Colin Cowherd contribute pre-recorded segments to either enhance the conservation that the co-hosts are having or have a different perspective.

"FOX NFL Kickoff" is the perfect place to get a first word about Sunday's football action with interviews with NFL newsmakers, reports from NFL game venues, breaking news and updates included during the course of the show.

Sunday, Pregame: "FOX NFL Sunday presented by GMC" (12:00 PM ET):
"FOX NFL Sunday presented by GMC", the pregame show that dates back to Fox's first-ever NFL season in 1994, hits the air for yet another Sunday showing at 12:00 PM ET on Fox. For the second time this week, Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan & Jay Glazer return to the studio to helm the broadcast. For Sunday's studio programming, four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski will replace Jimmy Johnson (who only will work Saturday).

Sunday, NFL on FOX Singleheader, Early Game Only - 1:00 PM ET (Eagles at Commanders, Lions at Bears, Giants at Falcons & Cardinals at Panthers):
If your local Fox station (market) is televising an early afternoon contest to suffice as the sole Fox game this week, live coverage from the various NFL stadiums across America begins at 1:00 PM ET. Fox will regionalize four games at that particular timeslot, including - Eagles at Commanders (50% of Markets), Giants at Falcons (12% of Markets), Lions at Bears (10% of Markets) & Cardinals at Panthers (6% of Markets).

Saquon Barkley and the NFC East leading Philadelphia Eagles (12-2) visit Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders (9-5) on Sunday, December 22 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox. The Eagles have collected ten straight wins for the first time in the illustrious history of the franchise following last week's 27-13 victory over the Steelers in the "Battle for the Keystone State". The Commanders are picking up momentum with two straight wins, including a 20-19 win over the Saints last Sunday in CB Marshon Lattimore's return to New Orleans. With a win on Sunday over Washington, Philadelphia will obtain their second NFC East title in three seasons. As for the Commanders, they are looking to qualify for the postseason following a three-year absence (2021-23). Washington could clinch a playoff spot this week with a win and some help (a loss by Atlanta + a loss by Seattle or the Rams), but likely two more Commander wins over the final three weeks of the regular season will get in the Commanders into the postseason bracket. The Eagles are one of three teams vying for the #1 seed in the NFC, alongside the Vikings and Lions, with all three teams coming into Week 16 with a 12-2 record. Commanders QB Jayden Daniels completed 25 of 31 pass attempts (80.6%) for 226 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions for a 118.5 passer rating and added 66 rushing yards in Washington's Week 15 victory over the Saints. 🎙 Sunday's Eagles-Commanders NFC East duel will be shown on Fox, with Joe Davis calling the play-by-play, three-time Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen providing analysis and Pam Oliver working from the sidelines as the reporter.

Jason Pinnock and the hapless New York Giants (2-12) look to spoil Bijan Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons' (7-7) pre-Christmas plans in this intraconference showdown in the NFC on Sunday, December 22 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox. The Falcons have struggled over the past five weeks, only scoring victory just once during this period, with that lone win coming last Monday night against the Raiders, 15-9. The Falcons trail the Buccaneers by one game in the NFC South with three weeks to play. Now, the Falcons face a short week and a chance to get right against an inferior opponent. Falcons S Jessie Bates III had himself the game-winning interception as time expired last week in Las Vegas. Falcons RB Bijan Robinson compiled over 100 scrimmage yards vs. the Raiders in Week 15. 🎙 Play-by-play announcer Kevin Kugler joins analyst and three-time Super Bowl champion Daryl "Moose" Johnston and reporter Laura Okmin for Sunday's Giants vs. Falcons game call on Fox.

Jahmyr Gibbs and the Detroit Lions (12-2), tied with Minnesota for the NFC North lead, look to safeguard the NFC's top seed in this NFC North road game versus Caleb Williams and the freefalling Chicago Bears (4-10) on Sunday, December 22 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox. The Lions had their eleven-game winning streak snapped last week, dropping a high-scoring 48-42 affair to the Buffalo Bills. As you know, things are getting interesting for the #1 seed in the NFC, as the Vikings (12-2), Lions (12-2) and the Eagles (12-2) all a chance to grab it and attain that all important first round bye and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. The Lions have played well on the road this season, going 6-0, and bringing the NFL's #1 offense into Soldier Field (32.8 points per game) on Sunday. Despite the tough loss to the Bills last week, Lions QB Jared Goff passed for 494 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions and became first player in NFL history with four career games with at least 400 passing yards, four touchdown tosses, and zero giveaways. 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Kenny Albert, analyst and Super Bowl champion Jonathan Vilma, and reporter Megan Olivi will provide commentary for Sunday's Fox Lions-Bears broadcast.

Budda Baker, who just get rewarded with a multi-year contract extension this week, and the Arizona Cardinals (7-7) strive to keep their playoff chances alive against Bryce Young and the unlucky Carolina Panthers (3-11) on Sunday, December 22 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox. The Cardinals claimed an important 30-17 victory over the Patriots last week. The victory over the Patriots allowed the Cardinals to get to .500 as we continue the stretch run of this 2024 season. After a surprising 6-4 start, the Cardinals have hit the skids, dropping three of their previous four contests. Right now, the Cardinals are one game behind the Seahawks & Rams for the NFC West lead and two games behind the Commanders for the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC. If the Cardinals lose and if the Rams defeat the Jets, the Cardinals would be eliminated from playoff contention. This is an important game for Arizona, as they must win this one to remain in the NFC playoff picture moving forward. Cardinals RB James Conner caught five passes, collected 138 yards from scrimmage and rushed four two scores in the Cardinals' 30-17 Week 15 win over the Patriots. 🎙 Sunday's Cardinals-Panthers game will be televised on Fox, as play-by-play commentator Chris Myers works alongside analyst and three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth and sideline reporter Jen Hale.

Sunday, NFL on FOX Singleheader, Late Game Only - 4:05 PM ET (Vikings at Seahawks):
For those of you slated to receive a late game only from Fox this Sunday, you will then be getting the NFC contest live from Seattle's Lumen Field as Josh Metellus and the Minnesota Vikings (11-2) go up against Julian Love and the Seattle Seahawks (8-6), starting at 4:05 PM ET (22% of Markets). More information about Sunday's Vikings-Seahawks game will be disclosed in the next paragraph.

Two postseason contenders on the NFC side collide when Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings (12-2), tied for first place in the NFC North, travel to Seattle to face Leonard Williams and the Seattle Seahawks (8-6), tied for first place in the NFC West, on Sunday, December 22 at 4:05 PM ET on Fox. The Vikings hold the second longest winning streak in the NFC right now with seven straight wins (only trailing Philadelphia with ten consecutive victories), including last week's 30-12 win over the Bears on "Monday Night Football". The Seahawks need to place last week's depressing 30-13 loss to the Packers on "Sunday Night Football" behind them as they are involved in a tight race for the NFC West title coupled with keeping pace with the Commanders for the final NFC Wild Card (if the division doesn't shake out favorably). Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell can become the third head coach to win 13 or more games during his first three seasons, joining Matt LaFleur and George Seifert. The Vikings and Seahawks both came into Week 16 tied for first place in their respective divisions after missing the postseason in 2023. 🎙 Fox will broadcast Sunday's Vikings-Seahawks game, as the broadcast team consists of Adam Amin (play-by-play), former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez (analyst) and Kristina Pink (reporter).

Hi, I hope that you are enjoying this holiday season as we welcome you to the Week 16 edition of the NFL on CBS: Field Pass. In this week's story, you will find several important pieces of information featuring this week's NFL on CBS broadcast schedule, commentator lineup and distribution splits.

On Sunday, December 22, CBS will be televising an NFL doubleheader with six games on the docket (three games early and three games late). In the early window (1:00 PM ET), you have Rams at Jets, Browns at Bengals and Titans at Colts. In the late window (4:25 PM ET), you have 49ers at Dolphins, Patriots at Bills and Jaguars at Raiders. Which NFL on CBS doubleheader games will your market be receiving this week and who's set to call the action? Please continue to read to find out the answer to that question that I just posed to you guys. As a side note, Chicago (WBBM-TV) and Charlotte (WBTV) will only get a late game this week on CBS, as the Bears and Panthers have chosen to enforce blackouts during the early window (1:00 PM ET).

Let us begin our discussion now about this week's NFL on CBS schedule.

Pregame: "The NFL Today" presented by RAM Trucks (12:00 PM ET):
Before CBS shows the Sunday doubleheader, the network will televise a one-hour pregame show called "The NFL Today presented by RAM Trucks" beginning at 12:00 PM ET. Originating from New York City, James Brown hosts the program alongside a full cast of analysts, including Hall of Famer coach Bill Cowher, former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson, 2016 NFL MVP Matt Ryan, three-time Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt. Jonathan Jones joins the program as the insider, providing the latest news and updates from around the NFL as the Sunday afternoon kickoffs approach.

NFL on CBS Doubleheader Game #1: 1:00 PM ET (Rams at Jets, Browns at Bengals & Titans at Colts):
At 1:00 PM ET on CBS, coverage for the Week 16 doubleheader begins for most of the country (except for Chicago and Charlotte, which will be blacked out for the first game of the doubleheader, as previously mentioned). CBS will regionalize three games for the 1:00 PM ET window this week, including - Rams at Jets (Primary; 74% of Markets), Browns at Bengals (17% of Markets) and Titans at Colts (5% of Markets). We will dissect each of the three early game matchups for CBS.

Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua and the Los Angeles Rams (8-6), winners of seven of their previous nine following an atrocious 1-4 start, head east to the Jersey Meadowlands to try to stay on top of the NFC West standings against Breece Hall, Davante Adams and the New York Jets (4-10) on Sunday, December 22 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS. The Rams were able to withstand rainy conditions against the 49ers last week on "Thursday Night Football" and fought for a 12-6 win. This victory permitted Los Angeles to vaunt into first place in the NFC West. The Rams are currently battling with the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks for the top spot in the NFC West division with three weeks left (San Francisco is basically out of the division race). With a victory Sunday, the Rams would strengthen their postseason hopes. Last week vs. the 49ers, Rams WR Puka Nacua led the team with seven receptions for 97 yards. Rams DE Kobie Turner had his fourth multi-sack game of his career last week vs. San Francisco. 🎙 Sunday's Rams-Jets game will be broadcasted on CBS, described by iconic play-by-play commentator Kevin Harlan, analyst and former NFL quarterback Trent Green and sideline reporting performed by Melanie Collins.

Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals (6-8) host Denzel Ward, Jameis Winston and the Cleveland Browns (3-11) for the "Battle of Ohio" on Sunday, December 22 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS. The Bengals are currently on a two-game winning streak, including last week's 37-27 win over the Titans. As you know, the Bengals' playoff hopes are slim to none despite their recent success. If the Bengals drop this game, they will be eliminated from playoff contention. Last week's win over the Titans marked the 400th win in Bengals history. Bengals QB Joe Burrow threw his NFL-leading 36th touchdown passes against the Titans last week while Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase surpassed the 100 receptions mark for the season in that same game. 🎙 CBS will broadcast Sunday's Browns-Bengals game with Spero Dedes (play-by-play), Adam Archuleta (analyst) and Aditi Kinkhabwala (reporter) calling the action.

Jeffery Simmons and the Tennessee Titans (3-11) look to place a potential final dagger in Anthony Richardson and the Indianapolis Colts' (6-8) playoff hopes on Sunday, December 22 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS. The Colts are coming off an upsetting 31-13 loss to the Broncos last week, a game in which the Colts led for a long period of time before collapsing and giving a game that they should have won away. Now, Indianapolis' playoff hopes are hanging on by a thread, as the team needs to basically win out to have any hopes for the postseason. A Colts loss plus a Chargers win would eliminate the Colts from the postseason. Colts RB Jonathan Taylor ran for over 100 yards last week vs. Denver. Colts S Nick Cross recorded an interception last week vs. the Broncos. 🎙 This week's Titans vs. Colts broadcast team on CBS features play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy, analyst and former NFL kicker Jay Feely, analyst and former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker and sideline reporter Tiffany Blackmon.

NFL on CBS Doubleheader Game #2: 4:25 PM ET (49ers at Dolphins, Patriots at Bills & Jaguars at Raiders):
Following the conclusion of the 1:00 PM ET games, stay tuned for the second game of the national doubleheader at 4:25 PM ET on CBS. CBS will regionalize three matchups for the late afternoon doubleheader this weekend, including - Patriots at Bills (Primary; 57% of Markets), 49ers at Dolphins (40% of Markets) and Jaguars at Raiders (3% of Markets). Let's dig a little deeper into these late afternoon matchups for CBS Sports this Sunday.

Dion Dawkins and the AFC East champion Buffalo Bills (11-3) welcome in Rhamondre Stevenson and the New England Patriots (3-11) to town on Sunday, December 22 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS. Buffalo has won eight of their previous nine games, including last week's shootout 48-42 win over the top team in the NFC, the Detroit Lions. The Bills have already wrapped up their fifth straight AFC East title, but the team has much bigger goals in mind. The biggest goal of all is to potentially catch up with Kansas City for the #1 seed in the AFC, but the Bills need to continue to win and have Kansas City slip up just a little (as Buffalo trails Kansas City by two games with three games to go; Buffalo owns a head-to-head tiebreaker with Kansas City based off the Bills Week 11 victory over the Chiefs). The Bills have scored 30 points in eight consecutive games. Bills QB Josh Allen put together another strong game last week vs. Detroit, as his MVP candidacy continues, totaled 430 yards (362 pass, 68 rush) & 4 TD's (2 pass, 2 rush) vs. 0 INT's with 122.4 QB rating. Bills CB Christian Benford had 6 tackles, sack, forced fumble and a pass defensed last week vs. the Lions. 🎙 Fans looking for the game broadcast should tune in to CBS for Sunday's telecast, with play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle, analyst Charles Davis and sideline reporter Evan Washburn.

Here's a fun fact for you: Did you know that the San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins once competed in Super Bowl XIX back in 1984? (The 49ers would go to defeat the Dolphins, 38-16, to win their second Super Bowl in three years.) Obviously, these teams will be NOWHERE close to a Super Bowl this season. Two desperate teams look to keep their small playoff hopes alive as Fred Warner and the San Francisco 49ers (6-8) visit Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins (6-8) on Sunday, December 22 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS. It has been a frustrating season for the defending NFC champions, as they stumble into Sunday's game in Miami with a subpar 6-8 record. Last week, the 49ers fell short in a 12-6 loss to the Rams on "Thursday Night Football". This season has been filled with untimely bad games and a ton of injuries. However, San Francisco has displayed plenty of resiliency. Examples include CB Charvarius (Mooney) Ward coming back to play following the tragic death of his one-year-old daughter. LB Dre Greenlaw returning last week after missing ten months due to an awful ACL injury during Super Bowl LVIII in February. San Francisco's hopes for the postseason are basically "dead in the water. If San Francisco loses on Sunday, they would be eliminated from the playoff (& NFC West) contention. As for Miami, they have shown a valiant effort to salvage their season following a disastrous 2-6 start. But, after a 20-12 loss to the Texans last week, the Dolphins' playoff chances are basically on thin ice. They can't afford any more losses the rest of the way. A Dolphins loss and a Chargers win would knock the Dolphins out of postseason contention. Dolphins LB Jordyn Brooks led the team with eight tackles last week vs. the Texans. This game is the perfect example of teams striving to keep their slim hopes alive for another week. 🎙 The lead NFL on CBS commentary crew of Jim Nantz, Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson will be on-site at Hard Rock Stadium for Sunday's 49ers-Dolphins game broadcast on CBS.

Darnell Savage and the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-11) play Ameer Abdullah and the Las Vegas Raiders (2-12) on Sunday, December 22 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS. 🎙 Andrew Catalon calls play-by-play for Sunday's Jaguars-Raiders contests on CBS, with three-time Pro Bowl running back Jason McCourty and Super Bowl champion Jason McCourty serving as Catalon's game analysts. AJ Ross reports from the sidelines.

Highlights of the Week 15 NFL on FOX: Field Pass (Sunday, December 15):
  • For the second straight week, FOX Sports will carry an NFL on Fox doubleheader featuring Week 15 matchups on Sunday, December 15. The Super Bowl season on Fox continues with another December doubleheader Sunday as the 2024 NFL regular season begins to wind down.
  • Fox's Week 15 Sunday schedule consists of six games - Cowboys vs. Panthers (1:00 PM ET), Commanders vs. Saints (1:00 PM ET), Bengals vs. Titans (1:00 PM ET), Jets vs. Jaguars (1:00 PM ET), Steelers vs. Eagles (4:25 PM ET) & Buccaneers vs. Chargers (4:25 PM ET).
  • Fox intends to host two live hours of pregame coverage prior to the network's Sunday Week 15 doubleheader, with "Fox NFL Kickoff presented by Little Casears" leading the charge at 11:00 AM ET followed by the iconic pregame program "Fox NFL Sunday presented by GMC" at 12:00 PM ET.
  • The postseason is getting one week closer. The NFL on Fox is your home for the opportunity to see teams competing for spots in the postseason as Week 15 moves along, including: the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3), the Philadelphia Eagles (11-2), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6), the Los Angeles Chargers (8-5) & the Washington Commanders (8-5).
  • A Keystone Stone matchup highlights America's Game of the Week (4:25 PM ET) as Russell Wilson leads the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3) into Philadelphia for an interconference game vs. Darius Slay and the Philadelphia Eagles (11-2) as two division leaders square off with so much on the line.

The time has come! Welcome everybody to the Week 15 NFL on Fox: Field Pass. In this week's article, several topics will be covered. First up, we will discover the broadcast schedule for the NFL on Fox this Sunday. Then, the Fox announcer assignments for this weekend's game will be revealed. Finally, the distribution splits for each game are set to be disclosed, thus giving you the chance to find out which games that Fox will be assigning for your local market on Sunday.

The 2024-25 NFL playoffs are set to start on Saturday, January 13, roughly one month from now. That means we are heading into the home stretch of this 2024 NFL regular season. This Sunday, December 15, Fox will telecast a doubleheader featuring games with postseason implications and/or teams fighting to stay alive, improve their seeding, or whatever the case may be. You will be happy to know that Fox has got you with an entire day devoted to NFL content, from 11:00 AM ET through 8:00 PM ET (nine consecutive hours).

Looking at Fox's Week 15 schedule, they have a six-game lineup across two windows. To start things off, Fox will air an early doubleheader game at 1:00 PM ET. Scheduled games for the FOX early doubleheader slot include Cowboys at Panthers, Commanders at Saints, Bengals at Titans or Jets at Jaguars. America's Game of the Week serves as the second game of the Fox doubleheader at 4:25 PM ET with a two-game lineup containing Steelers at Eagles and Buccaneers at Chargers.

In other words, Week 15 will have a significant impact on the postseason picture and features action that you don't wanna miss!

Moreover, both Fox and CBS have a doubleheader this week. So, keep that in mind! Your local market will be receiving FOUR Sunday contests this weekend.

| Pregame: "Fox NFL Kickoff" presented by Little Casears - 11:00 AM ET:
FOX will kick off two hours of Week 15 pregame coverage at 11:00 AM ET with "Fox NFL Kickoff presented by Little Casears". Charissa Thompson anchors the one-hour live studio show from Los Angeles alongside a talented group of analysts including Hall of Famer Charles Woodson, four-time Pro Bowler Michael Vick and three-time Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman. Insider Peter Schrager supplies the most recent news and information from the NFL for the football fans watching. To supplement the main cast, Cooper Manning and Colin Cowherd also contribute pre-recorded segments during the course of the hour.

The "Fox NFL Kickoff" studio gang will converse about the upcoming day's slate of football activity, presenting timely interviews with NFL newsmakers, live reports from NFL stadiums across the country, breaking news and any updates that may arise.

Pregame: "Fox NFL Sunday" presented by GMC - 12:00 PM ET:
The renowned Sunday pregame show "Fox NFL Sunday presented by GMC" then hits the air at 12:00 PM ET on FOX. This serves the second and final hour of pregame programming before the Sunday matchups kick off. Emanating from Los Angeles, co-host Curt Menefee and co-host and Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw combine anchoring duties. Menefee and Bradshaw are joined by an esteemed panel of Hall of Famers: Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson and Howie Long. Veteran FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer joins the team as the "insider", detailing key information related to Sunday's contests.

"Fox NFL Sunday" encompasses news from around the league, features, highlights, interviews and pregame predictions. The program, which debuted alongside FOX's NFL coverage in 1994, has been remarkably consistent from the beginning, as Long, Johnson, Bradshaw are the only remaining members of the original lineup.

| NFL on Fox: Doubleheader Game #1 - 1:00 PM ET (Cowboys at Panthers, Commanders at Saints, Jets at Jaguars, Bengals at Titans):
The Week 15 NFL on Fox doubleheader launches at 1:00 PM ET on Fox with the early game window. FOX plans to regionalize four games in the 1:00 PM ET window this Sunday, incorporating the following games: Cowboys at Panthers (Primary; 72% of Markets), Commanders at Saints (11% of Markets), Bengals at Titans (9% of Markets) & Jets at Jaguars (8% of Markets). I will keep these game previews for the early window momentary, since most of the teams involved have little or no postseason hopes whatsoever.

CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys (5-8) return to opposing stadiums when they visit Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers (3-10) on Sunday, December 15 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox. The Cowboys recently had a two-game passable winning streak broken despite Rico Dowdle's career high 131 rushing yards last week vs. the Bengals on "Monday Night Football". If Dallas loses to Carolina coupled with a Washington win against New Orleans, the Cowboys would then be eliminated from playoff contention. The Panthers played the Eagles tight last week up in Philadelphia, losing 22-16. A Carolina loss, a Tampa Bay win or an Atlanta win would knock the Panthers out of the postseason picture. 🎙 Cowboys-Panthers is set for a 1:00 PM ET start time on Fox Sunday, with play-by-play announcer Joe Davis, analyst and three-time Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen and sideline reporter Pam Oliver calling the game.

Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders (8-5) attempt to remain a postseason spot as they battle Cameron Jordan and the New Orleans Saints (5-8), looking to keep their hopes alive for a Wild Card berth and/or a division title, on Sunday, December 15 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox. Washington returned to their winning ways in Week 13 with a dominant 42-19 win over the Titans, prior to the squad taking Week 14 off (the Commanders had a three-game losing streak prior to the Titans game). The Saints have turned a corner as of late, winning three of their last four games, including last week's 14-11 win over the Giants at MetLife Stadium. Based on the current NFC East standings (with Philadelphia comfortably in first place), the Commanders are basically playing for a wild card barring a miracle. So the Commanders need to resume their regular season game schedule with a dub. Amazingly, despite the Saints' struggles in 2024, there is reason to hope in the Big Easy, as the Saints trail Tampa Bay by just two games in the NFC South. However, the Saints' margin for error is basically non-existent, as they desperately need this game (as they trail the Commanders by three games in the NFC Wild Card picture). The Commanders head to New Orleans for the first time since 2018. Saints DE Cameron Jordan has a sack against 28 of the 32 teams in the NFL (with the exceptions being the Saints, Ravens, Chiefs and Jets). 🎙 Sunday's Commanders-Saints game will be nationally televised over the Fox airwaves, with Kenny Albert calling play-by-play, analyst and Super Bowl champion Jonathan Vilma providing analysis and Megan Olivi reporting from the field.

Ja'Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals (5-8) try to keep their faint postseason chances alive in this AFC matchup against Amani Hooker and the Tennessee Titans (3-10) on Sunday, December 15 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox. The Bengals earned a much-needed victory, 27-20, over the Cowboys on "Monday Night Football" last week. However, the Bengals realize that their postseason chances are all but shot barring a miracle. The Bengals are basically on life support, needing to win out and have a million things bounce their way. If the Bengals drop this game and if the Broncos defeat the Colts, the Bengals would be eliminated from playoff contention. 🎙 Sunday's Bengals at Titans broadcast team on Fox features play-by-play commentator Kevin Kugler, analyst and three-time Super Bowl champion Daryl "Moose" Johnston and sideline reporter Laura Okmin.

Quinnen Williams and the New York Jets (3-10) travel down south to the Sunshine State for a meeting against Josh Hines-Allen and the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-10) on Sunday, December 15 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox. 🎙 Chris Myers (play-by-play), Mark Schlereth (analyst) and Jen Hale (reporter) team up for Sunday's Jets-Jaguars Fox broadcast.

| NFL on Fox: Doubleheader Game #2 - 4:25 PM ET (America's Game of the Week) (Steelers at Eagles, Buccaneers at Chargers):
Week 15 coverage on Fox continues at 4:25 PM ET with America's Game of the Week. There are two great games in the doubleheader slot on Fox this week - Steelers at Eagles (Primary; 87% of Markets) and Buccaneers at Chargers (13% of Markets). Time now to dive into these enticing late afternoon games.

Minkah Fitzpatrick and the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3) compete against DeVonta Smith and the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles (11-2) in Battle of Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 15 at 4:25 PM ET on Fox. The Steelers are on a two-game winning streak after last week's 27-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns at Acrisure Stadium. With the Eagles' 22-16 win over the Panthers last week combined with the Cardinals loss vs. the Seahawks, Philadelphia clinched a postseason berth for the fourth consecutive season. The Steelers are firmly in first place in AFC North, as they lead the Ravens by two games. The Steelers have the #3 seed in the AFC entering Week 15; however, Pittsburgh looks to move up the AFC pecking order over the final four weeks of the season. The Eagles have the NFC East all but wrapped up, with a massive three-game lead over the second place Commanders. Philadelphia, of course, must have this one to keep pace with the Lions for the #1 seed in the NFC. The Steelers clinch a postseason spot with a victory over the Eagles on Sunday. Eagles RB Saquon Barkley leads the NFL with a franchise-record 1,623 yards and 1,890 scrimmage yards this year. This week, he can become the fourth player in the past 25 seasons (2000-24) with 1,700 rushing yards in his first 14 games of a season, joining Chris Johnson (1,730 rushing yards in 2009), Jamal Lewis (1,747 in 2003) and Adrian Peterson (1,812 in 2012). 🎙 Fox's lead commentary crew of play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt, analyst and seven-time champion Tom Brady, field reporter Erin Andrews and field reporter Tom Rinaldi take the broadcast call for the late afternoon presentation on Fox.

An interconference duel of the utmost importance takes place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, when Baker Mayfield and the NFC South-leading Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6) clash with Khalil Mack and the Los Angeles Chargers (8-5) on Sunday, December 15 at 4:25 PM ET on Fox. The Buccaneers have found their groove since their Week 11 bye with three consecutive victories, including last week's 28-13 win over the Raiders. The Chargers get an opportunity to start over following a heartbreaking 19-17 loss to the Chiefs last week on "Sunday Night Football". Tampa Bay possesses first place in the NFC South, as they enjoy a one-game lead over the Falcons with four weeks remaining. If Tampa Bay continues to stack wins, they should be in pretty good shape to make the playoffs once again. The Chargers have sole focus on one of the three AFC Wild Card spots, since the AFC West is no longer an option due to Kansas City winning the division last week. Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh is seeking a postseason berth in his first season coaching the Chargers. Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield ranks tied for third with 28 touchdowns passes this season and has 155 touchdown passes in 99 career starts. Chargers QB Justin Herbert has 335 consecutive pass attempts without an interception. 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Adam Amin, analyst and former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez and reporter Kristina Pink have the call for Sunday's Buccaneers at Chargers matchup on Fox.
