Welcome, everyone, to this week’s edition of MLB on Fox: On Deck. Our friends over at Fox Sports will resume their 2026 regular season coverage of Major League Baseball this Saturday, August 1, with a doubleheader across FS1 and Fox. Three games are included in Fox Sports’ MLB schedule this week, and this article will guide you through each matchup as we get closer to gameday.
All six teams that Fox is planning to show this Saturday (Minnesota, Seattle, NY Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Arizona, & Cleveland) are currently in the mix for the postseason, so these individual teams have plenty to play for this upcoming weekend. With that in mind, let’s get right into it!
● MLB on FS1 — Twins at Mariners (Saturday, August 1 at 4:00 PM ET on FS1):
On Saturday, August 1, FS1 kicks off the day’s baseball schedule with American League action. The Minnesota Twins will head to T-Mobile Park in Seattle to face off against the Seattle Mariners at 4:00 PM ET/1:00 PM PT.
⮞ Twins (54-54) vs. Mariners (52-55) — Saturday, 4:00 PM ET on FS1:
Byron Buxton and the Minnesota Twins (54-54) compete against Josh Naylor (52-55) and the Seattle Mariners with both clubs eyeing Wild Card spots above them in the standings on Saturday, August 1, at 4:00 PM ET/1:00 PM PT, on FS1.
Saturday’s Twins at Mariners broadcast team on FS1 features play-by-play commentator Connor Onion and game analyst Mark Sweeney.
The Twins have posted a 5-5 record over their last 10 games. However, Minnesota is coming off a series victory over the Athletics this weekend. On Sunday, the Twins defeated the Athletics 11-8 in the series finale, with Twins RF Kody Clemens going 3-for-5 with a pair of triples, a run batted in, and two runs scored. Minnesota is knocking on the door ๐ช for the third Wild Card spot in the American League, as they trail the Guardians by one game entering this week’s schedule of games. This series is a crucial one for Minnesota, especially against another team like Seattle that shares similar aspirations of snagging away a Wild Card spot from one of the current rightsholders.
The second half of the season has started uncertainly for the reigning AL West champions, the Mariners. Since the All-Star break, Seattle’s record is 4-6, including losses in two straight series against the Reds and Rangers. The AL West remains highly competitive, and losing games to division rivals like Texas — currently in first place — doesn’t help their position. At the same time, Seattle is aiming for a Wild Card spot in case they can’t win the division. In Monday’s series finale, the Mariners lost 7-3 to the Rangers, even though Mariners LF Randy Arozarena hit his 13th home run of the season.
● Baseball Night in America — Yankees at Cubs, Diamondbacks at Guardians (Saturday, August 1 at 7:00 PM ET on Fox):
“Baseball Night in America”, Fox Sports’ longstanding weekly MLB primetime series, continues this week, Saturday, August 1, with a pair of regionalized matchups on the Fox broadcast network beginning at 7:00 PM ET. This week, viewers will watch a thrilling interleague battle between the Yankees and the Cubs or an important interleague showdown as the Diamondbacks square off against the Guardians. Please continue reading for more information about this week’s Baseball Night in America games.
⮞ Yankees (60-46) vs. Cubs (60-46) — Saturday, 7:00 PM ET on Fox:
In one of the must-see games of the year, Anthony Volpe and the New York Yankees (60-46) play Michael Busch and the Chicago Cubs (60-46) from Wrigley Field in Chicago on Saturday, August 1, at 7:00 PM ET on Fox.
Veteran play-by-play commentator Adam Amin will call Fox’s presentation of Yankees-Cubs on Saturday, joined by a pair of World Series champions — AJ Pierzynski (2005, White Sox) and Adam Wainwright (2006, Cardinals). Emmy Award winner Ken Rosenthal reports from the field throughout the telecast.
This weekend marks the first meeting of the season between these two historic franchises. Last season, the Cubs grabbed two out of three at New York’s Yankee Stadium. Add the historic Wrigley Field to the equation, and we expect some fireworks between the Yankees and Cubs this weekend. Each club goes into this weekend’s series in pretty similar fashion. Both teams are 60-46, both teams have the top wild card in their respective league, and each team boasts storylines lengthy enough to write an entire novel on.
Watch out for Cubs CF Pete Crow-Armstrong. In a National League filled with star power, Crow-Armstrong is making a strong argument to be an MVP candidate. The 24-year-old leads the Cubs in stolen bases (26) and home runs (23). Combine his offensive production with his spectacular defensive abilities, and Shohei Ohtani may wanna watch his back because PCA is charging right at him for some MVP votes at season’s end.
⮞ Diamondbacks (55-52) vs. Guardians (55-54) — Saturday, 7:00 PM ET on Fox:
Geraldo Perdomo and the Arizona Diamondbacks (55-52) continue their road trip to the East Coast versus Steven Kwan and the Cleveland Guardians (55-54) on Saturday, August 1, at 7:00 PM ET on Fox.
Kevin Kugler (play-by-play) and Tom Verducci (analyst) provide commentary for Diamondbacks-Guardians from Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Diamondbacks and Guardians tangle for the first time this season. In 2025, Arizona took the three-game set from the Guardians, getting two wins in that particular series at Chase Field in Phoenix. This year, the Guardians get the hosting rights for this interleague duel, with both teams playing for a lot during this weekend series matchup. The Diamondbacks are tied with the Pirates for the final wild card spot in the National League, while the Guardians try to desperately hang on to a wild card spot over the American League side.
Keep an eye out for Diamondbacks 2B Ketel Marte while you watch Saturday’s Diamondbacks-Guardians game. Marte is having a great season for Arizona, as he has served as one of their most consistent and productive hitters. In fact, Marte is averaging .254 with 19 home runs, 61 runs batted in, and 106 hits.
