(4:25 PM ET)

Hello again, folks! I hope you had a great summer 🌞 and enjoying this "unofficial end of the summer", better known as Labor Day Weekend. Week 1 is now officially here, which means it's now time for the season premiere of the NFL on FOX broadcast & market listings report! I started doing this last season, and apparently, you guys loved ❤ it very much. So, I am bringing it back for the 2024 season.

With that introduction officially out of the way, let's get started with the Week 1 NFL on FOX schedule and distribution breakdown article for the 2024 season.

The NFL on FOX begins their 11th Super Bowl season and their 31st season of NFL coverage overall this Sunday, September 8, with a doubleheader. There are six games on FOX's schedule this week -- Steelers vs. Falcons, Titans vs. Bears, Vikings vs. Giants, Panthers vs. Saints, Cowboys vs. Browns and Commanders vs. Buccaneers. Obviously, the big headline this week is the broadcasting debut of Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback and future Hall of Famer. Brady will make his FOX debut working the Cowboys-Browns game (4:25 PM ET) with Kevin Burkhardt, Erin Andrews & Tom Rinaldi.

FOX begins their Week 1 coverage with two hours of pregame programming, starting at 11:00 AM (ET). First up, you have FOX NFL Kickoff at 11:00 AM (ET), with host Charissa Thompson, Hall of Famer Charles Woodson, three-time Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman, four-time Pro Bowler Michael Vick, insider Peter Schrager, contributor Cooper Manning and contributor Colin Cowherd. This is the season debut for that program.

Then, pregame coverage continues at 12:00 PM (ET), with the advent of the 31st season for the iconic, legendary pregame show FOX NFL Sunday. Once again, Curt Menefee and Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw co-host the show, with Hall of Famers Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan and Howie Long also joining the show as analysts. Jay Glazer, who celebrates his 20th year with FOX Sports (2004-present), returns as the insider to provide up-to-the-minute information before the kickoffs.

The doubleheader begins at 1:00 PM (ET), with the early slate of games. The four-game 1:00 PM (ET) slate on FOX include Steelers-Falcons, Vikings-Giants, Panthers-Saints & Titans-Bears. A brief summary of each matchup can be found below.

Russell Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl XLVIII champion, gets another chance to be a starter in the NFL as he leads his Pittsburgh Steelers into Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta to take on newly acquired pass rusher Matt Judon and the Atlanta Falcons in a interconference matchup at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. 🎙 Joe Davis (play-by-play), three-time Pro Bowler Greg Olsen (analyst) & long-standing FOX reporter Pam Oliver (reporter) call the season opening matchup between Pittsburgh and Atlanta.

Soldier Field in Chicago is the site where #1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams (a rookie from USC and a Heisman Trophy winner in 2022), makes his long-awaited NFL debut as the Chicago Bears host new Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed and the Tennessee Titans in Week #1 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. 🎙 Adam Amin starts his fifth season with FOX Sports, working with former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez for the very first time. Kristina Pink, who has been with FOX for over a decade as a reporter, works the sidelines as the reporter.

Two teams looking to move on from disappointing 2023 campaigns clash to welcome 2024 in at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Superstar Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who has at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first four seasons, begins his fifth season as the Minnesota Vikings take on the formidable linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux and the New York Giants. 🎙 Kenny Albert, the last remaining original NFL on FOX commentator from the network's first season of NFL football in 1994, starts his 31st (!!) season behind the mic, paired with Super Bowl champion and former NFL linebacker Jonathan Vilma for the fifth straight season. Reporter Megan Olivi gets a promotion of sorts, as she will be covering the NFL on a full-time basis for the very first time, after several years of working select games for FOX.

Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers start the 2024 season at the Casears Superdome (the site of Super Bowl LIX) with a Week #1 battle with Demario Davis and the New Orleans Saints as two NFC South teams get together at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. Unfortunately, both teams sat out the 2023 postseason and will look to make into the playoff field in 2024. 🎙 Veteran play-by-play announcer Chris Myers & three-time Super Bowl champion and analyst Mark Schlereth narrate and report the action from New Orleans, with veteran reporter Jennifer Hale contributing to the broadcast from field level.

The Week 1 FOX doubleheader continues with the first edition of America's Game of the Week at 4:25 PM (ET), with a pair of games in that slot - Cowboys-Browns and Commanders-Buccaneers. I will give you some key points in both matchups in the following paragraphs.

Most of the nation will see Tom Brady make his highly anticipated FOX Sports analyst debut as Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons and the defending NFC East champions Dallas Cowboys visit reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, Amari Cooper, Juan Thornhill and the Cleveland Browns at 4:25 PM (ET) on FOX. Both teams were postseason participants last season. 🎙 Brady will join seasoned play-by-play commentator Kevin Burkhardt, alongside experienced reporters Tom Rinaldi & Erin Andrews for the broadcast, as FOX's lead/Super Bowl broadcast team begins their 2024 campaign in grand fashion.

For those of you not getting Cowboys-Browns in the doubleheader window, FOX will take you to the Sunshine State of Florida at 4:25 PM (ET) as the Washington Commanders travel south to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the regular season opener for both teams. Of course, the Commanders have a few big headlines to start 2024: Dan Quinn takes over for Ron Rivera at head coach; and Jayden Daniels, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner who split his college time between Arizona State and LSU, takes the starting QB gig in Washington as a rookie. As for the Buccaneers, Baker Mayfield, Antoine Winfield Jr., and crew look to repeat as NFC South champions following a 9-8 season in 2023 and a Divisional Round appearance. 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Kevin Kugler joins analyst and three-time Super Bowl champion Daryl "Moose" Johnston and reporter Laura Okmin for the game broadcast.

Following America's Game of the Week, FOX will have a half-hour postgame show called "The OT", beginning at 7:30 PM (ET). Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Michael Strahan, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson & Jay Glazer will host the program to put a bow on the Week 1 Sunday afternoon slate.

NFL on CBS: On the Field | Broadcast Schedule and Distribution Breakdown | Week 1, 2024 (Sunday, September 8 - Regional Coverage)

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams (#17) looks on. (NBC News)

Monday, September 2, 2024 [Labor Day]

  • The NFL on CBS begins their 65th season of televising games on Sunday, September 8 with regional coverage during Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season.
  • The refreshed "The NFL Today" cast debuts at 12:00 PM (ET) to provide pregame coverage - with 2016 MVP and four-time Pro Bowler Matt Ryan joining the cast of James Brown, Nate Burleson, Bill Cowher & Jonathan Jones.
  • Following a season in which the Cincinnati Bengals finished the regular season above .500 and MISSED the playoffs, Joe Burrow and the Bengals open up the 2024 season at home against Christian Gonzalez and the New England Patriots. The Patriots begin life without future Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick, as Jerod Mayo now takes over the reins in Foxborough. (1:00 PM ET)
  • Following a breathtaking rookie season, Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud begins his second NFL campaign as the Texans visit Anthony Richardson, Jonathan Taylor and the Colts in a divisional clash. (1:00 PM ET)
  • Jim Harbaugh makes his highly anticipated return back to the NFL sidelines as his Los Angeles Chargers host Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders in a divisional showdown from SoFi Stadium. (4:05 PM ET)

Welcome back, my friends! I hope you had a wonderful summer. The 2024 NFL 🏈 season is set to kick off this week, and that means we bring back the broadcast and market listings report for the second season! Albeit, the format is a bit different this time around. Instead of doing one article for both CBS and FOX, I have elected to write up two seperate articles. From now on, CBS will seperate articles each week during the season and FOX will also have seperate articles each week. It's a way to not make my brain hurt and "work" twice as hard.

With that in mind, let's get into it!

The NFL on CBS returns to kick off their 65th season on the air this Sunday, September 8, with regional coverage on the CBS broadcast network. Six games are on the docket here in Week #1 - including: Patriots vs. Bengals, Jaguars vs. Dolphins, Texans vs. Colts, Cardinals vs. Bills, Raiders vs. Chargers or Broncos vs. Seahawks. You will either receive a game in the "early" 1:00 PM (ET) timeslot or the "late" 4:00 PM (ET) timeslot. Keep reading to find out which game your local market will be receiving to start the new season off.

CBS's coverage will get going at 12:00 PM (ET), with the season premiere of "The NFL Today" pregame program. James Brown hosts the one-hour program, joined by analysts Matt Ryan, Nate Burleson & Bill Cowher, with insider Jonathan Jones providing updates from around the league. Ryan makes the transition from game analysis to studio analysts this season, with Burleson, Cowher, Brown & Jones all returning from previous seasons.

Then, at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS, the early slate of games kicks off for those slated to receive a early matchup. Four games make up that window: Patriots at Bengals, Texans at Colts, Jaguars at Dolphins or Cardinals at Bills. I provide a brief overview of each matchup below.

Second year corner Christian Gonzalez and the New England Patriots, coming off a brutal 4-13 season in 2023, visit Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals (9-8 a season ago and missed the playoffs) to open up the 2024 season at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. 🎙 Longtime NFL on CBS play-by-play commentator Ian Eagle will provide commentary, with analyst Charles Davis and reporter Evan Washburn.

Another 1:00 PM (ET) matchup to CBS to watch takes place in Indianapolis, as CJ Stroud, Danielle Hunter and the defending AFC South champions Houston Texans look to take the next step in the AFC as they go up against Jonathan Taylor, Anthony Richardson and their longtime divisional foe, the Indianapolis Colts. 🎙 Andrew Catalon, three-time Pro Bowl runner Tiki Barber, Super Bowl champion Jason McCourty and reporter AJ Ross will have the call.

One of "The Battles of Florida" takes place at 1:00 PM (ET), as Trevor Lawrence (who threw for 21 touchdowns last season) and the Jacksonville Jaguars start fresh following a implausible late-season collapse in 2023, as they missed the postseason after starting 8-3 and finishing 9-8 (losing 5 of their final 6). Their Week 1 opponent is Miami Dolphins and the unstoppable Tyreek Hill (good luck, Jags). 🎙 The versatile commentator Kevin Harlan, two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Trent Green, and reporter Melanie Collins team up for the game broadcast on CBS.

In Buffalo, the new dynamic duo for the Arizona Cardinals is set to hit the field for the very first time. Kyler Murray, who had a healthy and productive offseason from all accounts, and new target at wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. (the #4 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and the son, of course, of former Colts receiver Marvin Harrison Sr.) lead the Arizona Cardinals into Highmark Stadium where they will face one of the league's explosive playmakers, Josh Allen, and the newly reconfigured Buffalo Bills at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. 🎙 Tom McCarthy handles the play-by-play, with former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker and former NFL kicker Jay Feely on game analysis. Tiffany Blackmon reports from the sidelines.

For those of you that will not receive a early 1:00 PM (ET) CBS broadcast, you will get a late 4:05 PM (ET) CBS broadcast instead. There are two options there: Raiders at Chargers or Broncos at Seahawks.

A highly anticipated Week 1 showdown is going down at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood at 4:05 PM (ET) on CBS, as Antonio Pierce makes his full-time Raiders coaching debut against Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers. Harbaugh, following a successful tenure at Michigan, leading them to a national championship in 2023, is back on the NFL sidelines once again following his stint with the 49ers about a decade or so ago. 🎙 The lead "NFL on CBS" team of Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, and Tracy Wolfson began their eighth campaign together with this game.

Two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Surtain II and the Denver Broncos look to build off a 8-9 campaign in 2023 as they begin their 2024 season against veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett and the Seattle Seahawks at 4:05 PM (ET) on CBS. We should mention that for the first time since 2009, Pete Carroll is not manning the Seahawks sidelines as the head coach, as Mike Macdonald replaced Carroll as the Seahawks head coach this offseason. Obviously, of course, is a re-match of Super Bowl XLVIII back in 2014, when the Seahawks defeated the Broncos 43-8 to win their first (and only) Super Bowl in franchise history. 🎙 Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta will work the game upstairs in the booth, with reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala covering the sidelines during the afternoon.

  • The calendar has flipped to September, and "Baseball Night in America" on FOX is back this Saturday (September 7), as the regular season calendar is winding down. Both of FOX's regional games this Saturday are from the American League - Twins vs. Royals & White Sox vs. Red Sox. Coverage of "Baseball Night in America" will begin at 7:00 PM (ET) on FOX.
  • A super important American League Central showdown takes place at Kaffuman Stadium as two postseason contenders meet - Bobby Witt Jr. and the Kansas City Royals host Christian Vazquez and the Minnesota Twins, with both teams currently hanging on to Wild Card berths. (Saturday, September 7 at 7:00 PM ET on FOX)
  • Miguel Vargas and the lonely Chicago White Sox to put a major damper on Triston Casas and the Boston Red Sox' playoff hopes when the squads go up against each other Saturday night from Fenway Park in Boston; the Red Sox desperately need this one to keep pace for a Wild Card berth in the American League. (Saturday, September 7 at 7:00 PM ET on FOX

The 2024 Major League Baseball postseason is now less than a month away from getting started. However, there is still some more regular season baseball left to be played. As the race for the playoffs continues throughout the month of September, the MLB on FOX will highlight the playoff picture featuring clubs fighting for a playoff spot. On Saturday, September 7, "Baseball Night in America" takes the diamond for Saturday night primetime baseball activity, starting at 7:00 PM (ET) on FOX. More details about Saturday's coverage can be found below.

At 7:00 PM (ET) on Saturday night, FOX heads to Kansas City, Missouri (yes, you heard that RIGHT) for a pivotal late-season matchup from the American League Central, featuring two clubs that are firmly in postseason position as of right now. Royce Lewis and the Minnesota Twins head south to face MJ Melendez and the Kansas City Royals. The Twins are currently second in the American League Central and have the second Wild Card spot. The Royals are currently third in the American League Central and have the third (and final) Wild Card spot. This matchup has a high amount of significance to say the least. 🎙 Cory Provus (play-by-play), Eric Karros (analyst) & Ken Rosenthal (reporter) will be on-site at Kaffuman Stadium to call the game.

At 7:00 PM (ET) on Saturday night, the historic Fenway Park will have a chance to be shown under the Saturday September lights on FOX as Jarren Duran and the Boston Red Sox host the Chicago White Sox, the worst team in baseball. Obviously, this is a must-win game and series for Boston, as their playoff chances are starting to slip away. 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Don Orsillo & analyst and 2005 World Series champion AJ Pierzynski have the 7:00 PM (ET) primetime call from Fenway Park.

  • MLB on FOX (Regional Coverage): "Baseball Night in America" - Saturday, September 7, 2024
- Note: On Thursday, September 5, FOX switched many markets over from White Sox-Red Sox to Twins-Royals. So keep that in mind! Originally, Twins-Royals had 71% coverage while White Sox-Red Sox had 29% coverage. Due to Thursday's switching of stations, the Twins-Royals gained an additional 11% of the country while White Sox-Red Sox loses 11% coverage. Thanks to regular blog commenter Mark T. for pointing this out (with Philadelphia switching from CWS/BOS to MIN/KC).
