- NBC's 2025-26 regular season schedule to feature compelling matchups, today's current superstars, rivalries that have shaped the NBA, & 2025 NBA Playoff rematches.
NBC is happy to welcome back the National Basketball Association (NBA) to its sports portfolio following a nearly quarter-century absence. The "NBA on NBC" is officially back, my friends! Additionally, NBA coverage debuts on Peacock this season, NBC's streaming service. NBC Sports has a 100-game regular season calendar during the 2025-26 season, with live games surrounding three nights of the week - "Sunday Night Basketball" beginning on Sunday, February 1, "Peacock NBA Monday" beginning on Monday, October 27, & "Coast 2 Coast Tuesday" starting on Tuesday, October 28.
NBC Sports' 2025-26 NBA game coverage tips off with an NBA Tip-Off doubleheader on Tuesday, October 21, includes coverage of the 2025 NBA Mexico City Game (Mavericks vs. Pistons - Saturday, November 1 - 10:00 PM ET on Peacock), the first-ever presentation of a quadrupleheader on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, & wall-to-wall coverage of the 2026 NBA Playoffs presented by Google. All of NBC's NBA productions this year, including games on NBC and Peacock, as well as the Peacock exclusive games, will be available for streaming on Peacock.
“Over the past year, we’ve felt the excitement growing for the NBA’s return to NBC and its debut on Peacock,” said Rick Cordella, President, NBC Sports. “With today’s schedule release, the countdown is officially on to our first NBA broadcast in more than 20 years and our first-ever NBA live stream. From the iconic sound of Roundball Rock to cutting-edge streaming on Peacock to a lineup of award-winning and Hall of Fame voices, we plan to celebrate the NBA and its players from the moment we tip off in Oklahoma City on October 21. We love this game.”
There will be a gap of 8,532 days between NBC's last NBA broadcast — Game 4 of the 2002 NBA Finals, where the Los Angeles Lakers swept the New Jersey Nets to capture the team's third consecutive NBA championship on June 12, 2002 — and the 2025-26 season debut on Tuesday, October 21 on NBC and Peacock.
NBC Sports' first NBA lineup in 24 years is packed with marquee matchups featuring many of the league's top-tier talents, postseason rematches from the 2025 NBA Playoffs, historic rivalries, and key storylines. All 30 NBA teams will have at least one appearance. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder, Jalen Brunson and the 2025 Eastern Conference finalist New York Knicks, Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, and Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors each made the maximum number of appearances, with 11. Additionally, Anthony Edwards and the 2025 Western Conference finalist Minnesota Timberwolves, Donovan Mitchell and the 2024-25 East No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers, James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics, 2025 #1 overall pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks are scheduled for 10 games each. The first six games on NBC Sports' schedule include every member of last year's All-NBA Teams (excluding two players due to injury) and 14 of the previous 17 MVP selections.
Besides NBC's doubleheader on Opening Night, the first-ever Peacock NBA Monday, & the quadrupleheader of games on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there are several other key components to NBC's 2025-26 regular season schedule, including:
- On Sunday, February 1, LeBron James, Luka Dončić, and the Los Angeles Lakers visit Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and the New York Knicks at historic Madison Square Garden, followed by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder taking on Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets in the first-ever edition of "Sunday Night Basketball" on NBC and Peacock.
- As part of the premiere "Coast 2 Coast Tuesday" program on Tuesday, October 28, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks welcome Brunson and the Knicks to Fiserv Forum, followed by Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and the Los Angeles Clippers playing a Pacific Division game vs. Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and the Golden State Warriors.
- In a must-see "Peacock NBA Monday" on Monday, November 24, Kevin Durant is set to return to Phoenix for the first time since being traded from the Rockets to the Suns when the Rockets play the Suns at 9:30 PM (ET).
- The following evening (Tuesday, November 25), James, Dončić, and the Lakers entertain Leonard, Harden, and the Clippers in the "Battle of Los Angeles", serving as one of four Emirates NBA Cup Group Play games for both squads.
- NBC Sports' only Saturday game has a game featuring two No. 1 picks squaring off as 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks battle 2021 No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons on Saturday, November 1 at 10:00 PM (ET) on Peacock, live from Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
- On Tuesday, December 2, Brunson and the Knicks travel to Boston for an Eastern Conference duel vs. the Celtics. This Atlantic Division duel is a rivalry that carries historic and recent significance. Last year, the Knicks defeated the Celtics in six games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
- On Monday, January 5, we will be treated to a confrontation of centers that have won an MVP award during their respective careers. Three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets take on 2023 NBA MVP Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers at 8:30 PM (ET) on Peacock.
- On Monday, February 9, four-time champion & MVP LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers engage in a Western Conference showdown with reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
- Two clubs that share plenty of NBA Finals history meet in a "Sunday Night Basketball" game on Sunday, February 22, as Jaylen Brown and the Celtics make the long trip out West for a highly anticipated interconference meeting against James, Dončić, and the Lakers. The two clubs have been pitted against each other in the NBA Finals a record 12 times.
- On Sunday, April 5, Dončić, James, and the Lakers visit Flagg, Anthony Davis, and the Dallas Mavericks, a little over a year following a shocking trade that saw Dončić get shipped out to Los Angeles and A.D. moving the other way.
With the NBA's return to NBC now just months away, NBC Sports has gathered a group of commentators that will call games during the 2025-26 season. Mike Tirico, Noah Eagle, Terry Gannon, Mark Followill, and Michael Grady serve as play-by-play voices. Jamal Crawford, Reggie Miller, Grant Hill, Brad Daugherty, Derek Fisher, Austin Rivers, and Brian Scalabrine serve as game analysts. Jordan Cornette, John Fanta, Zora Stephenson, Ashley ShahAhmadi, and occasionally, Grant Liffmann, serve as sideline reporters. Ahmed Fareed and Maria Taylor serve as studio hosts. Tracy McGrady, Carmelo Anthony, and Vince Carter serve as studio analysts (with Crawford & Scalabrine also getting studio time). Grant Liffmann serves as an NBA insider & an occasional game reporter. NBA legend Michael Jordan will be a special contributor.
NBA Tip-Off (Rockets vs. Thunder & Warriors vs. Lakers - Tuesday, October 21):
As previously mentioned, NBC Sports opens up the 2025-26 NBA regular season with an NBA Tip-Off doubleheader on Tuesday, October 21.
In the first game of the evening, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder receive their championship rings and watch their first-ever NBA championship (in Oklahoma City) go up to the rafters at Paycom Center before they participate in Western Conference action against Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets at 7:30 PM (ET). As a side note, Durant spent his first nine seasons with the SuperSonics/Thunder franchise. NBA on NBC's lead play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico calls Rockets-Thunder, alongside Hall of Famer Reggie Miller (analyst) and three-time Sixth Man of the Year award winner Jamal Crawford (analyst), with Zora Stephenson reporting from the sidelines. Maria Taylor hosts studio coverage from Oklahoma City, with analysts Carmelo Anthony and Vince Carter. A one-hour pregame show from Oklahoma City, featuring Taylor, Anthony, & Carter, begins at 6:30 PM (ET).
The nightcap sees Jimmy Butler III, Stephen Curry, and the Golden State Warriors begin their 2025-26 campaign with a divisional matchup against LeBron James, Luka Dončić, and the Los Angeles Lakers at 10:00 PM (ET). Noah Eagle (play-by-play), Hall of Famer Grant Hill (analyst), & Ashley ShahAhamdi (reporter) call the Warriors vs. Lakers game from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Ahmed Fareed (host) and Tracy McGrady (analyst) offer on-site studio coverage from Los Angeles.
Both Opening Night games will be shown across NBC and Peacock.
Peacock NBA Monday:
Beginning Monday, October 27, Peacock NBA Monday will be the home for up to three national Monday games each week (for the most part) through Monday, April 6. A 30-minute studio program will precede Peacock NBA Monday game broadcasts every Monday night.
Peacock NBA Monday will kick off a new era on Monday, October 27, with a doubleheader that will only be available for streaming. First up, Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers tussle with Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons in a Central Division clash at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, at 7:00 PM (ET). Later, Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets invade the Target Center in Minneapolis for an early-season Northwest Division game against Naz Reid and the Minnesota Timberwolves at 9:30 PM (ET).
Peacock NBA Monday spotlights several more key games during the 2025-26 campaign, including Bucks vs. Cavaliers (Monday, November 17) & Nuggets vs. Thunder, featuring the last two MVPs — Nikola Jokić (2024) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2025) — on Monday, March 9.
Coast 2 Coast Tuesday:
After NBA Tip-Off on Tuesday, October 21, "Coast 2 Coast Tuesday" gets underway on Tuesday, October 28, and will present "regional" doubleheaders throughout the regular season on NBC and Peacock.
On most Tuesdays, an 8:00 PM ET game will be shown to NBC stations in the Eastern and Central time zones, and an 8:00 PM PT [11:00 PM ET] game will be shown to NBC stations in the Mountain and Pacific time zones. Check your local listings every week. Both games will be streamed on Peacock. Each week, a 30-minute studio program will precede the coverage available on Peacock.
"Coast 2 Coast Tuesday" has an intriguing star-studded doubleheader to get this new package started on Tuesday, October 28. Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks face Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks at 8:00 PM (ET), followed by Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers visiting Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors at 11:00 PM (ET).
NBC/Peacock will present two 2025 Emirates NBA Cup Group Play 🏆 games on Tuesday, November 25. Desmond Bane and the Orlando Magic face off against Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers (8:00 PM ET), followed by James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers battling LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers (11:00 PM ET).
On Tuesday, December 2, Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder visit Curry and the Warriors. On Tuesday, January 20, James and the Lakers visit Jokič and the Nuggets. The fourth annual "NBA Rivals Week" — the NBA's designated week to feature rivalries, both renowned and emerging ones — takes center stage on "Coast 2 Coast Tuesday", with a Tuesday, January 20 doubleheader of Spurs vs. Rockets (8:00 PM ET) and Lakers vs. Nuggets (10:00 PM ET).
Sunday Night Basketball:
Following NBC's "Sunday Night Football" and NFL playoff coverage in early 2026, NBC Sports will debut "Sunday Night Basketball" on NBC and Peacock on Sunday, February 1, 2026. This season, "Sunday Night Basketball" will pause for two weeks in February (Feb. 8 and Feb. 15) due to NBC Sports' coverage of Super Bowl LX and 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics (Winter Games).
The Sunday package resumes on Sunday, February 22 and then continues through Sunday, April 5, with 11 games in total (including three doubleheaders). A one-hour, on-site studio program will precede "Sunday Night Basketball" each week on NBC and Peacock.
"Sunday Night Basketball" rolls out with a doubleheader that basketball fans don't wanna miss. LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers clash with Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks from Madison Square Garden in New York City at 7:00 PM (ET), followed by Jalen Williams and the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder taking on Peyton Watson and the Denver Nuggets at 9:30 PM (ET).
On Sunday, March 15, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors pay a visit to Madision Square Garden — the building where Curry became the all-time three-points made leader in 2021 — for a game against the New York Knicks. Several weeks later on Sunday, April 5, Curry and the Warriors host former teammate Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets — Durant won both his championships in Golden State in 2017 & 2018, taking NBA Finals MVP honors both times as well.
