* Highlights:
- Lone Star Showdown: Jose Altuve and the Houston Astros take on Corey Seager and the Texas Rangers in the "Lone Star Showdown", otherwise known as the American League Championship Series. In fact, this is the first-ever playoff meeting between the two clubs. The Rangers qualified for their first ALCS since 2011 while the Astros make their seventh consecutive appearance in the ALCS.
- The First One: For the first time ever, Christian Walker and the Arizona Diamondbacks face Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies in a postseason series. This first-ever playoff meeting comes in the National League Championship Series, with a World Series berth on the line.
The 2023 MLB Postseason continues this weekend with the start of the League Championship Series. Only four teams remain alive for a chance to win the World Series.
The American League Championship Series (ALCS) presented by loanDepot begins on Sunday, October 15 at 8:15 PM (ET) on FOX. In this game, Adolis Garcia and the Texas Rangers, making their first appearance in the ALCS in 12 years, take on Chas McCormick and the Houston Astros from Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. Houston & Texas duel in postseason play for the first time ever (!!), and it's fitting that these Texas teams play for the right to advance to the Fall Classic. The Astros toppled the Twins in the Division Series while the Rangers shocked the 100+ win Orioles by sweeping them out in the Division Series. FOX's lead MLB duo of Joe Davis (play-by-play) and John Smoltz (analyst) will be in Houston for the call, alongside reporters Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci.
The following night (Monday, October 16), the National League Championship Series (NLCS) gets underway from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. At 8:00 PM (ET), TBS will carry Game 1 of the series as Trea Turner and the Philadelphia Phillies host Ketel Marte and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Both teams were Wild Card teams, and both knocked two 100+ win teams in the Division Series in order to get here (Phillies defeated the Braves & the Diamondbacks defeated the Dodgers). Brian Anderson will handle play-by-play duties for the game and the series, with analysts Jeff Francoeur and Ron Darling. Matt Winer will report from the field.
Coverage of the ALCS and NLCS continues nightly on FOX, FS1 & TBS until the respective series' conclude. We are getting one step closer to the World Series!
