Monday, September 23, 2024

  • The NFL on FOX hits the gridiron for the final time in September with a six-game regional lineup during Week 4 action on Sunday, September 29: Eagles vs. Buccaneers, Saints vs. Falcons, Bengals vs. Panthers, Rams vs. Bears, Patriots vs. 49ers & Commanders vs. Cardinals.
  • Players set to be showcased on FOX in Week 4 include: Saquon Barkley (Eagles RB), Baker Mayfield (Buccaneers QB), Tyrann Mathieu (Saints S), Bijan Robinson (Falcons RB), Marvin Harrison Jr. (Cardinals WR), Charvarius Ward (49ers CB) & much more!
  • FOX begins Week 4 coverage with "FOX NFL Kickoff" at 11:00 AM (ET) featuring the studio lineup of Charissa Thompson, Julian Edelman, Michael Vick & Peter Schrager. In addition, Colin Cowherd and Cooper Manning are expected to contribute features.
  • The two-hour pregame coverage continues with the iconic "FOX NFL Sunday" pregame show at 12:00 PM (ET) with Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Michael Strahan, Howie Long, Rob Gronkowski & Jay Glazer.
  • Following a season-saving effort vs. the Saints in Week 3 when Eagles running back Saquon Barkley ran for 147 yards and scored two tuddies, Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) march ahead for the second stop of a two-game NFC South road trip when they go up against Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) in a 2023 NFC Wild Card Game re-match on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX.
  • Two teams looking to freeze recent slumps clash in Week 4 as Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones and the New England Patriots (1-2) fly out west to meet the incredible Fred Warner and the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers (1-2) on Sunday, September 29 at 4:05 PM (ET) on FOX.

The Super Bowl 🏆 season rolls on for the NFL on FOX with Week 4 regional coverage this Sunday, Sunday, September 29. As the month of September comes to a close, FOX has six games on the docket to be shown on a regional basis - Eagles-Buccaneers, Bengals-Panthers, Saints-Falcons, Rams-Bears, Patriots-49ers and Commanders-Cardinals. I invite you to carry on with the reading of this week's (Week #4) NFL on FOX press release for more insight and knowledge.

FOX will begin their Week 4 regional coverage day with the pregame program, "FOX NFL Kickoff" at 11:00 AM (ET). Charissa Thompson serves as the host for the show from Los Angeles, joined by Hall of Famer Charles Woodson, four-time Pro Bowler Michael Vick, three-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl LIII MVP Julian Edelman and insider Peter Schrager. Furthermore, Cooper Manning and Colin Cowherd will contribute segments throughout the broadcast.

Following "FOX NFL Kickoff", FOX will have an additional hour of pregame programming with the legendary "FOX NFL Sunday" pregame show at 12:00 PM (ET). As always, Curt Menefee and Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw co-host the show, with Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, Hall of Famer Howie Long and four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski serving as analysts. Insider Jay Glazer rounds out this studio lineup with the latest news from across the league, late breaking injury news before the kickoffs and much more!

For viewers slated to receive an early game ONLY, FOX will hit the air at 1:00 PM (ET) for live game coverage. FOX is planning to regionalize the following four games during the 1 PM (ET) window - Eagles at Buccaneers, Bengals at Panthers, Saints at Falcons & Rams at Bears. I will break down each and every matchup in the subsequent paragraphs to give you some things to keep in mind while you watch on Sunday.

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) resume their two-game NFC South road trip with a Week 4 game against Jordan Whitehead and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. This is the fifth time since 2021 that these two squads have faced each other in either regular season and/or postseason competition. This is a re-match of the 2023 NFC Wild Card Playoff game as the Buccaneers destroyed the Eagles 32-9. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts has amassed 915 yards through Week 3, the second most in the league (only trailing Ravens QB Lamar Jackson). Eagles QB Saquon Barkley has five touchdowns so far in 2024 (four rushing, one receiving). Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin is a reliable target for the Buccaneers, as he is currently tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns (three). Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield has put the league on notice since joining the Buccaneers in 2023, as Baker has Tampa Bay at 2-1 entering this Week 4 game. 🎙 FOX's lead NFL crew of Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play), former Buccaneers quarterback and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady (analyst), Erin Andrews (reporter) and Tom Rinaldi (reporter) will provide commentary.

Coming off a wild and magical come from behind win against their bitter rival 49ers last week, Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams (1-2) hit the road for the third time already this season when they go against rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears (1-2) on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. Last week, the Rams erased a 14-point deficit to defeat the San Francisco 49ers for their first victory of the 2024 season. Rams QB Matthew Stafford completed 16-for-25 passes for 221 yards and one touchdown. Rams RB Kyren Williams had a major impact in the Rams' victory last week over the 49ers , scoring three touchdowns (two rushing and on receiving). Bears rookie WR Rome Odunze caught six balls for 112 yards along with a touchdown score in the Bears' 21-16 loss to the Colts last week. 🎙 The Rams-Bears game will be nationally broadcast on FOX, with the broadcast team of Adam Amin (play-by-play), Mark Sanchez (analyst) & Kristina Pink (reporter).

Tyrann Mathieu and the New Orleans Saints (2-1) prepare for a NFC South division matchup this week, by visiting Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons (1-2) on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. The Saints are coming off a tough loss last week against the Eagles by a final score of 15-12. The Falcons fell short vs. the two-time defending champion Chiefs 22-17 last week on "Sunday Night Football". Saints S Tyrann Mathieu has at least one takeaway in his last four games dating back to the 2023 season. Saints RB Alvin Kamara ran for 87 yards and caught three balls for 40 yards for a grand total of 127 yards from scrimmage. Falcons QB Kirk Cousins went 20-for-29 for 230 yards and 1 touchdown vs. the Chiefs last Sunday in a tight loss. 🎙 Calling the Saints-Falcons game on FOX Sunday afternoon is play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert, analyst and Super Bowl champion Jonathan Vilma and reporter Megan Olivi.

Following a shocking and surprising loss to the Washington Commanders on "Monday Night Football" last week, Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and the winless Cincinnati Bengals (0-3) face down a short week as they are set to travel to Charlotte to compete against Dionate Johnson and the Carolina Panthers (1-2) on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. Cincinnati is facing distinctive and unmistakable adversity as the team is starting 0-3 for the first time since 2019 (before Joe Burrow arrived in Cincinnati). However, last week, Cincinnati did show signs of promise in the 38-33 MNF loss to Commanders. Bengals QB Joe Burrow went 29-for-38 for 324 yards and three touchdowns against the Commanders, even with the tough loss factored in. For the Panthers, they continue life with veteran quarterback Andy Dalton leading the way. Dalton, of course, played for the Bengals for nine years (2011-19). Dalton's first start with the Panthers went well last week in Las Vegas, as the Panthers bested the Raiders for their first win of the season. Dalton went 26-for-37 for 319 yards and three touchdowns during that contest. 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Kevin Kugler and three-time Super Bowl champion Daryl Johnston work the game from the broadcast booth for FOX, with veteran reporter Laura Okmin providing sideline reports.

In the case of viewers getting a late FOX game ONLY, FOX signs on at 4:00 PM (ET) for a 4:05 PM (ET) kickoff. Two games will be contested at 4:05 PM (ET) to be regionally split throughout eligible parts of the country - Patriots at 49ers and Commanders at Cardinals. In the mere interest of you guys, I will offer a brief summary of some fine points to keep track of while these games are taking place late Sunday afternoon (for those of you lucky you to get one of these late 4:05 PM FOX games).

Demario Douglas, Marcus Jones and the New England Patriots (1-2) once again find themselves away from Gillette Stadium this week, as they fly cross country to participate in a Week 4 game against Brock Purdy and the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers (1-2) on Sunday, September 29 at 4:05 PM (ET) on FOX. Most of the country will be watching this one as the "lead" singleheader game. Both teams share similar starts to the season, with each club winning their first game and dropping two straight matchups entering Week 4. In the Patriots' 24-3 loss to the Jets last week, rookie QB Drake Maye (#3 overall pick, North Carolina) saw his first NFL action, as he went 4-for-8 for 22 yards. Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson has touched the ball 57 games through three games (52 rushing attempts and 5 receptions). Last week, during the 49ers 27-24 loss to the Rams, RB Jordan Mason (filling in for the injured Christian McCaffrey) had 19 carries for 77 yards. 49ers QB Brock Purdy went 22-for-30 for 292 yards and three touchdowns in the 49ers 27-24 loss to the Rams last week. 🎙 The Patriots-49ers game will be broadcast on FOX, with Joe Davis (play-by-play), Greg Olsen (analyst) and Pam Oliver (reporter) on the call.

For the first time in four years, Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders (2-1) take a trip to the desert for a NFC matchup with Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals (1-2) on Sunday, September 29 at 4:05 PM (ET) on FOX. Over the last two games (wins over the Giants & Bengals), the Commanders have scored on every single drive. Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels (#2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU) has hit the ground running over the first three weeks of his NFL career. Of course, Jayden Daniels stole the headlines on "Monday Night Football" last week vs. Bengals, going 21-for-23 for 254 yards and throwing two touchdown passes (including a "DOT" to WR Terry McLaurin in the fourth quarter). In fact, Daniels had MORE touchdowns (three) than INCOMPLETIONS (two) during the Bengals game. On the Cardinals side, QB Kyler Murray went 21-for-34 for 207 yards, passed for one touchdown, and tossed an interception during the Cardinals' 20-13 loss to the Lions last week. 🎙 The Commanders-Cardinals game on Sunday will be broadcasted by FOX, as Chris Myers (play-by-play), three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth (analyst) & Jennifer Hale (reporter) handle the late afternoon matchup from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

In all, six games for the NFL on CBS in Week 4: Broncos-Jets, Chiefs-Chargers, Browns-Raiders, Jaguars-Texans, Vikings-Packers & Steelers-Colts.
  • Three divisional rivalries to be featured on the NFL on CBS in Week 4: Vikings vs. Packers, Chiefs vs. Chargers and Jaguars vs. Texans.
  • "The NFL Today" to get everyone ready for the doubleheader day, starting at 12:00 PM (ET), with James Brown, Nate Burleson, Matt Ryan, Bill Cowher & Jonathan Jones.
  • Rookie quarterback Bo Nix, wide receiver Courtland Sutton, safety P.J. Locke and Denver Broncos (1-2) continue their two-game road trip out East against Super Bowl champion and four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets (2-1) at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS.
  • CBS goes inside the AFC West for a national doubleheader game as Patrick Mahomes and the undefeated defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) go up against J.K. Dobbins, Quentin Johnston and the Los Angeles Chargers (2-1) as the Chiefs and Chargers meet for the first time this season. Coverage starts at 4:25 PM (ET) on Sunday, September 29 on CBS.

Live coverage of the 2024 NFL season 🏈 continues with a Week 4 CBS doubleheader this Sunday, September 29. CBS has six games on the docket this weekend - Broncos-Jets, Vikings-Packers, Jaguars-Texans, Steelers-Colts, Chiefs-Chargers and Browns-Raiders. Continue reading for additional details about this week's installment of the NFL on CBS.

The Week 4 doubleheader on CBS starts with "The NFL Today" pregame show at 12:00 PM (ET). James Brown anchors the one-hour program from New York City, with analysts Nate Burleson, Bill Cowher & Matt Ryan. Additionally, insider Jonathan Jones joins the crew with news from across the league, late-breaking injury news before the "early" 1:00 PM (ET) kickoffs, and more.

The Week 4 CBS doubleheader starts at 1:00 PM (ET), when the early games are scheduled to get going. CBS will regionalize four games during this time period - Vikings-Packers, Broncos-Jets, Jaguars-Texans and Steelers-Colts. Let's dive into each one of these matchups.

Two longtime divisional foes renew their rivalry at Lambeau Field as Aaron Jones and the undefeated Minnesota Vikings (3-0) visit Christian Watson and the Green Bay Packers (2-1) on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. Most of the country will be watching this contest as the "lead" early game. The Vikings are one of five teams still undefeated following the first three weeks with the Bills, Chiefs, Steelers & Seahawks being the other teams. Packers CB Jaire Alexander had a 35-yard pick six in the 30-14 win over the Titans last week. Obviously, Aaron Jones will be visiting Lambeau Field for the first time as a visiting player this weekend. Aaron spent his first seven seasons with the Packers before leaving to join the Vikings for this season. 🎙 Vikings-Packers will be nationally broadcast on CBS, featuring play-by-play commentator Kevin Harlan, analyst Trent Green and reporter Melanie Collins as the broadcast team.

Christian Kirk, Travis Etienne Jr., Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3) look to FINALLY break through into the win column when they battle CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans (2-1) on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. The Jaguars were crushed 47-10 on "Monday Night Football" vs. the Bills on Monday night while the Texans were curb stomped 34-7 against the Vikings in Week 3. In simple words, both teams need to bounce back and get things going. Last week in the loss to Minnesota, Stroud was sacked four times. Pass protection needs to improve to keep Stroud upright.  Despite the ugly loss to the Bills last week, Lawrence completed 31 of 38 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown. 🎙 Andrew Catalon calls the play-by-play action for Jaguars-Texans this weekend on CBS with analysts Jason McCourty and Tiki Barber in the booth. AJ Ross handles the reporting from the sidelines.

Patrick Surtain II and the Denver Broncos (1-2) proceed with their two-game East Coast swing with a Week 4 contest against Aaron Rodgers, Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson and the New York Jets (2-1) on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. The Broncos finally notched their first dub of 2024 last week vs. the Buccaneers, winning that game 26-7 thanks to decent play at the quarterback position by rookie signalcaller Bo Nix, who ran for a tuddy (touchdown). On the Jets side, RB Breece Hall has at least one touchdown in each of the Jets' first three games of the 2024 season. Jets QB Aaron Rodgers has five touchdown passes so far in the young season. The Jets last played on "Thursday Night Football" last week vs. the Patriots, where they easily cruised to a 24-3 win. 🎙 Ian Eagle (play-by-play), Charles Davis (analyst) and Evan Washburn (reporter) call Broncos-Jets from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey for CBS.

Minkah Fitzpatrick and the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0) chase their fourth straight victory to begin the 2024 season when they take on Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts (1-2) on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. Steelers QB Justin Fields has had a good start to the 2024 season, leading his Steelers to a perfect 3-0 record following three weeks of action. Fields has completed 73.3% of his passes following Week 3. Last week, Fields made a connection with WR Calvin Austin III for a fourth-quarter score as the Steelers defeated the Chargers 20-10. Colts CB Jaylon Jones got two interceptions last week during the Colts' 21-16 win over the Bears. Jones is one of just two players around the league to have two picks in the same game to this point in 2024 (with Bills CB Ja'Marcus Ingram being the other one). 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Spero Dedes, analyst Adam Archuleta and field reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala take the call for the Steelers-Colts game on CBS.

Then, doubleheader coverage continues on CBS with the 4:25 PM (ET) national doubleheader window. CBS will regionalize two matchups during the late afternoon session - Chiefs-Chargers and Browns-Raiders. You can find out more information about these matchups in the following paragraphs.

Patrick Mahomes, Nick Bolton and the two-time defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) pay a visit to SoFi Stadium this week as they play Joey Bosa, Quentin Johnston and the Los Angeles Chargers (2-1) on Sunday, September 29 at 4:25 PM (ET) on CBS. To make a long story short, the entire country (for the most part, with the exceptions of Ohio & Nevada, etc., for obvious reasons) is receiving this game as the national doubleheader game. The Chiefs defeated the Falcons 22-17 last week on "Sunday Night Football" thanks to LB Nick Bolton's game-saving tackle on Falcons RB Bijan Robinson on a fourth down play. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has 224 touchdown passes so far in his amazing career with the Chiefs, needing just 14 more to pass the late great QB and Hall of Famer Len Dawson. The Chargers are fueled by a strong running game, featuring the career resurgence of RB J.K. Dobbins, who has 310 rushing yards through the first three Chargers games. 🎙 The Chiefs-Chargers game on CBS will have the lead broadcast team of Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (analyst) and Tracy Wolfson (reporter) on the call.

Deshaun Watson, Amari Cooper and the Cleveland Browns (1-2) head to Sin City for a Week 4 showdown with Alexander Mattison, Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders (1-2) on Sunday, September 29 at 4:25 PM (ET) on CBS. The Browns lost to the Giants 21-15 last week, while the Raiders dropped their Week 3 game to the Panthers 36-22. Despite losing to the Giants, don't blame WR Amari Cooper for the defeat. Cooper had 7 catches for 86 yards plus he scored multiple touchdowns during the contest. Browns CB Denzel Ward was responsible for two pass defensed vs. the Giants last week. Raiders QB Gardner Minshew II already has 747 passing yards after Week 3. With 253 more passing yards vs. the Browns on Sunday, Minshew II will hit 1,000 passing yards on the season, meaning Minshew II will become the 12th Raiders quarterback in franchise history to accumulate 1,000 passing yards in the team's first four regular season games. 🎙 CBS will televise the Browns-Raiders game, with Beth Mowins describing the game on play-by-play, analysts Ross Tucker and Jay Feely providing color commentary & reporter Tiffany Blackmon handling the sidelines.

  • FOX is set to carry regionalized Saturday night baseball during the final weekend of the 2024 regular season - Saturday, September 28, beginning at 7:00 PM (ET).
  • Brandon Nimmo and the New York Mets visit Rhys Hoskins and the Milwaukee Brewers as both squads fight for positioning in the National League Wild Card standings. Saturday, September 28 at 7:00 PM (ET) on FOX.
  • Cedric Mullins and the Baltimore Orioles try to earn a postseason berth when they go to Minneapolis to face Carlos Santana and the Minnesota Twins, looking to keep their playoff hopes alive. Saturday, September 28 at 7:00 PM (ET) on FOX.

Well, my friends, the 2024 regular season has reached the final weekend. The 2024 postseason officially begins next Tuesday (October 1) with the Wild Card Series. However, before we get there, FOX will televise their final regular season regional window this weekend (Saturday, September 28) to finish up their 29th regular season of coverage. Coverage for the evening starts at 7:00 PM (ET) and viewers will watch either the Mets vs. Brewers game or the Orioles vs. Twins game (read on to the bottom of the article to figure out which game you are receiving).

Pete Alonso and the New York Mets continue their drive towards a postseason berth as they visit Blake Perkins and the National League Central division winner Milwaukee Brewers in a crucial National League series to end the regular season. Game coverage starts on Saturday, September 28 at 7:00 PM (ET) on Fox. 🎙 Wayne Randazzo will call the game with analyst and Hall of Famer John Smoltz and reporter Ken Rosenthal.

Gunnar Henderson and the Baltimore Orioles forge ahead in their pursuit of a playoff spot when they travel to Minneapolis to face Carlos Santana and the Minnesota Twins on Saturday, September 28 at 7:00 PM (ET) on Fox. The Twins are desperately trying to keep their playoff hopes alive, as they are fighting with the Tigers, Royals & Mariners for the final two AL Wild Card spots. So Minnesota MUST win, because their margin for error is razor thin at this stage.

As a side note, thank you to everybody who read and contributed to my weekly MLB on FOX distribution and broadcast schedule articles this szn! We will have postseason MLB articles up throughout the month of October (and into November, if needed). Sadly, this is the final MLB on FOX distribution and broadcast schedule until next season!
