2023 NFL on CBS and NFL on FOX Broadcast Schedule and Market Listings Report: Week 8 (Sunday, October 29, 2023)

Hi, folks and welcome to the Week 8 edition of the broadcast schedule and NFL market listings report article.

This week, the fifth and final NFL Sunday for the month of October will be contested. That day will be Sunday, October 29. Once again, our friends over at CBS will have a doubleheader (1 PM ET and 4:25 PM ET) while FOX carries a singleheader for the second straight week (a game in your market at either 1 PM ET or 4 PM ET).

However, before I post the broadcast schedules and market listings, here is my offering for the Week 8 highlights.

  • Week 8 Highlights:
Christian Kirk (pictured above) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2) look to continue their recent momentum as they take on Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) on Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS. This matchup is very important considering the fact that this is an AFC Wild Card matchup (as of right now), plus a potential playoff preview in general. A huge statement game for both clubs here in the Steel City. Ian Eagle (play-by-play), Charles Davis (analyst) & Evan Washburn (reporter) will provide commentary.

* Following their bye week, Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys (4-2) are back in action against Super Bowl champion Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams (3-4) on Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 PM ET on FOX. The Cowboys look to win back-to-back games following their Week 6 Monday night win over the Chargers, while the Rams aim to rebound following a 24-17 Week 7 defeat to Mike Tomlin and his Pittsburgh Steelers. The talented duo of Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play) and Greg Olsen (analyst) are on the call, with Erin Andrews (reporter) and Tom Rinaldi (reporter) sharing sideline duties.

* The two top picks of the 2023 NFL Draft square off against each other on Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 PM ET on FOX. #1 overall pick Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers (0-6) host #2 overall pick CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans (3-3) at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. Also, expected to be in action is 2023 #3 overall draft pick Will Anderson Jr. of the Texans. Brandon Gaudin is on the play-by-play, alongside analyst Robert Smith and reporter Jennifer Hale.

* Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns (4-2) are coming off two emotional, but fun victories against San Francisco and Indianapolis. Now, can Kareem Hunt, Garrett, and the Browns fly out west and ground Geno Smith and the high flying Seattle Seahawks (4-2) group? Should be a terrific late afternoon game from the Pacific Northwest. Damn! This matchup should be on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" instead of that dreadful Bears-Chargers matchup, but that's not here or there. This game, scheduled for 4:05 PM ET on FOX on the afternoon of Sunday, October 29, will be called by Adam Amin (play-by-play), Daryl Johnston (analyst) & Pam Oliver (reporter).

* A re-match of Super Bowl 16 and Super Bowl 23 takes place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California this weekend. Fred Warner and the San Francisco 49ers (5-2) host Ja'Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals (3-3) on Sunday, October 29 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS. Cincinnati is coming off a bye week in Week 7 and is looking for consistency and wins as the season reaches the midway point, while the San Francisco 49ers continue to lock down opposing offenses and often make dazzling plays on the offensive side. Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (analyst) & Tracy Wolfson (reporter) narrate the play from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

Now, Week 8 highlights out of the way, let's proceed to the broadcast schedules/market listings for CBS and FOX this weekend.

2023 World Series: Television Schedule and Announcers

  • Embrace the Chaos vs. Go and Take It: Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off with Corey Seager, Marcus Semien and the Texas Rangers in one of the most improbable World Series matchups ever!
  • FOX to exclusively televise every single World Series matchup from Arlington, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Joe Davis (play-by-play) and John Smoltz (analyst) will lead FOX's World Series presentation for the second straight season, with Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci reporting from the field.
  • Kevin Burkhardt (studio host) hosts on-site pregame/postgame coverage, alongside analysts Derek Jeter (studio analyst), David Ortiz (studio analyst) & Alex Rodriguez (studio analyst).

The 2023 World Series presented by Capital One is officially set to go! This World Series matchup is one of those that shock you down to the core. Nobody (and I mean nobody) had these two finalists for the World Series trophy 🏆. But, this is why you play the game of baseball.

This year's World Series will feature the National League champion Arizona Diamondbacks and the American League champion Texas Rangers. Both of these teams executed and pulled off Cinderella-like postseason runs in order to reach the championship round.

The Diamondbacks, led by 2023 NLCS MVP 2B Ketel Marte and LF Corbin Carroll, dispatched three opponents in the playoffs to qualify for World Series play. First, they took care of the NL Central champion Milwaukee Brewers 2-0 in the Wild Card Series. Then, a shocking and inconceivable three-game sweep of their hated rival, Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-0 in the National League Division Series. Following that, the Diamondbacks were able to rally from 2-0 down to stun the defending National League champion, Philadelphia Phillies, in the National League Championship Series.

It's kinda cool to see the Diamondbacks return to the World Series stage considering what they have been through. Just two seasons ago (2021), Arizona posted an abysmal 52-110 record. And now, under manager Torey Lovullo, the Diamondbacks have risen up the National League charts to capture the franchise's second World Series berth in the 26-year history of the team.

As for the Texas Rangers, their manager Bruce Bochy is the godfather of helping teams make a run to the Fall Classic. Bochy previously managed the San Diego Padres to a World Series appearance in 1998 (losing to the Yankees), and the San Francisco Giants to three World Series appearances in 2010, 2012 and 2014 (with the Giants, of course, winning each time). Boch continues to show leadership and guide a moribund franchise to an amazing and unbelievable American League title.

Keep in mind, that the Rangers (just like the Diamondbacks) had 100+ losses during the 2021 season, and very quickly, now find themselves on baseball's biggest stage.

The Rangers are in the World Series for the first time since 2011 (losing to the Cardinals in seven games). The Rangers team is spearheaded by the explosive bat and ferocious energy of right fielder Adolis Garcia and always confident in big spots pitcher Jose Leclerc (who recorded the final out of Texas' Game 7 victory in the ALCS over the Astros).

The Rangers had a torrid start to the playoffs, sweeping Tampa Bay and Baltimore in the opening two rounds. The Rangers won their first seven playoff games before the Houston Astros (defending champions) headed the Rangers their first playoff loss in Game 3 of the ALCS. However, the Rangers weren't phased by that defeat, as the team managed to win the final two games of the ALCS at Minute Maid Park to win their first AL pennant since 2011.

The 2023 World Series will open up from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas this upcoming Friday, October 27, at 8:00 PM (ET) on FOX for Game 1 of the series. Ketel Marte and the Diamondbacks travel to Arlington to face Adolis Garcia and the Rangers to mark the advent of the best-of-seven series to determine this season's champion of baseball. Joe Davis (pxp), John Smoltz (analyst), Ken Rosenthal (reporter) & Tom Verducci (reporter) 🎤 will call Friday's game and the entire World Series, regardless of the duration.

Check out the 2023 World Series television schedule and announcers, which will be posted below!

Best of luck to both teams fighting for that championship! 🏆
