2023 NFL on CBS and NFL on FOX Broadcast Schedule and Market Listings Report: Week 8 (Sunday, October 29, 2023)

Hi, folks and welcome to the Week 8 edition of the broadcast schedule and NFL market listings report article.

This week, the fifth and final NFL Sunday for the month of October will be contested. That day will be Sunday, October 29. Once again, our friends over at CBS will have a doubleheader (1 PM ET and 4:25 PM ET) while FOX carries a singleheader for the second straight week (a game in your market at either 1 PM ET or 4 PM ET).

However, before I post the broadcast schedules and market listings, here is my offering for the Week 8 highlights.

  • Week 8 Highlights:
Christian Kirk (pictured above) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2) look to continue their recent momentum as they take on Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) on Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS. This matchup is very important considering the fact that this is an AFC Wild Card matchup (as of right now), plus a potential playoff preview in general. A huge statement game for both clubs here in the Steel City. Ian Eagle (play-by-play), Charles Davis (analyst) & Evan Washburn (reporter) will provide commentary.

* Following their bye week, Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys (4-2) are back in action against Super Bowl champion Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams (3-4) on Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 PM ET on FOX. The Cowboys look to win back-to-back games following their Week 6 Monday night win over the Chargers, while the Rams aim to rebound following a 24-17 Week 7 defeat to Mike Tomlin and his Pittsburgh Steelers. The talented duo of Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play) and Greg Olsen (analyst) are on the call, with Erin Andrews (reporter) and Tom Rinaldi (reporter) sharing sideline duties.

* The two top picks of the 2023 NFL Draft square off against each other on Sunday, October 29 at 1:00 PM ET on FOX. #1 overall pick Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers (0-6) host #2 overall pick CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans (3-3) at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. Also, expected to be in action is 2023 #3 overall draft pick Will Anderson Jr. of the Texans. Brandon Gaudin is on the play-by-play, alongside analyst Robert Smith and reporter Jennifer Hale.

* Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns (4-2) are coming off two emotional, but fun victories against San Francisco and Indianapolis. Now, can Kareem Hunt, Garrett, and the Browns fly out west and ground Geno Smith and the high flying Seattle Seahawks (4-2) group? Should be a terrific late afternoon game from the Pacific Northwest. Damn! This matchup should be on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" instead of that dreadful Bears-Chargers matchup, but that's not here or there. This game, scheduled for 4:05 PM ET on FOX on the afternoon of Sunday, October 29, will be called by Adam Amin (play-by-play), Daryl Johnston (analyst) & Pam Oliver (reporter).

* A re-match of Super Bowl 16 and Super Bowl 23 takes place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California this weekend. Fred Warner and the San Francisco 49ers (5-2) host Ja'Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals (3-3) on Sunday, October 29 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS. Cincinnati is coming off a bye week in Week 7 and is looking for consistency and wins as the season reaches the midway point, while the San Francisco 49ers continue to lock down opposing offenses and often make dazzling plays on the offensive side. Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (analyst) & Tracy Wolfson (reporter) narrate the play from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

Now, Week 8 highlights out of the way, let's proceed to the broadcast schedules/market listings for CBS and FOX this weekend.

  1. The maps have been posted. LAR/DAL is the primary game for FOX, JAX/PIT the primary early game for CBS, and obviously CIN/SF is the primary late game for CBS.

    1. @Mark T. Thanks bro! Philadelphia is getting Jets/Giants (1 PM ET) and Bengals/49ers (4:25 PM ET) on CBS this week, while FOX will be showing the Eagles/Commanders game at 1 PM ET.

    2. BTW, the CBS percentages aren't there, and for their late games, it just says TBD (with all markets under the Ravens-Cardinals game). Just letting you know.

    3. @Mark T. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I updated these now, so this should be fixed.

  3. Dang. You didn't even make a highlight of #1 vs #2 of this year's draft when the Texans played the Panthers...

    1. @JamTop1105 Just added that highlight! Thank you for bringing it up! That's right. And today, Young and the Panthers knocked off Stroud and the Texans as Carolina FINALLY grabbed their first W of the season.
