Clubs in contention over in the National League square off this weekend as Freddie Freeman and the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers tussle with rookie standout JJ Wetherholt and the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, May 2, at 7:15 PM ET (6:15 PM CT) on Fox, highlighting this week’s Major League Baseball coverage on the Fox Sports family of networks. A grand total of three games will be carried, with two of them being shown to viewers across the country (Reds-Pirates on FS1 at 4:00 PM ET, followed by either Dodgers-Cardinals or Rangers-Tigers on Fox at 7:00 PM ET).

Reds vs. Pirates — Saturday at 4:00 PM ET on FS1:
FS1 steps up to the plate with a Saturday afternoon presentation of National League Central division opponents, as Dane Myers and the NL Central-leading Cincinnati Reds head on the road for a divisional matchup against rising rookie Konnor Griffin and the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, May 2, at 4:00 PM ET on FS1.

Previously, the Pirates took two of three in a three-game series against the Reds from March 30-April 1, outscoring Cincinnati 16-8 in those two victories. The Reds lead the NL Central with a 19-10 record. The Pirates, however, are 3.5 GB at 16-14. For the first time in over a decade, both the Reds and Pirates are contenders at the same time. In 2013, the Reds and Pirates both qualified for the playoffs as Wild Card teams and famously met in the Wild Card game (which Pittsburgh went on to win). 

Reds rookie first baseman Sal Stewart is impressing plenty of people during his brief time in the Majors. Entering this week, he has belted nine home runs, driven in 29 runs (which leads the league), and has produced an outstanding .291/.385/.602 slash line.

“Baseball Night in America”: Dodgers vs. Cardinals or Rangers vs. Tigers — Saturday at 7:00 PM ET on Fox:
Prime Time Baseball airs on the Fox broadcast network on Saturday, May 2, at 7:00 PM ET. This week, Fox plans to regionalize two matchups across the country (check your local listings or the bottom of this article for additional information). The game choices for this week’s “Baseball Night in America” include Dodgers vs. Cardinals or Rangers vs. Tigers.

Two-time World Series champion Shohei Ohtani and the two-time reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers participate in National League action against Iván Herrera and the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, May 2, at 7:00 PM ET on Fox. Fox Sports’ Joe Davis (play-by-play), Hall of Famer John Smoltz (analyst), & Emmy Award winner Ken Rosenthal (reporter) will call Dodgers-Cardinals from Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.

American League action is on the docket as Brandon Nimmo and the Texas Rangers go up against Spencer Torkelson and the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, May 2, at 7:00 PM ET on Fox. Fox Sports’ Adam Amin (play-by-play), 2005 World Series champion AJ Pierzynski (analyst), & 2006 World Series championAdam Wainwright (analyst) will call Rangers-Tigers from Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan.
