🟉 Highlights:

• Ahead of the network’s 67th NFL season, CBS Sports announces its 2026 NFL game and studio talent, with noteworthy changes, especially to the game crews.

• Three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt joins play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson on the lead broadcast team, calling marquee matchups, a Thanksgiving Day game, and the AFC Postseason.

• Additionally, two-time Super Bowl champion Logan Ryan is promoted to full-time game analyst, working alongside Andrew Catalon and AJ Ross.

• Super Bowl XLVIII champion Robert Turbin joins CBS Sports’ NFL game analyst rotation for the first time, teaming up with Tom McCarthy & Tiffany Blackmon.

• Returning booths — Kevin Harlan, Trent Green, and Melanie Collins; Spero Dedes, Adam Archuleta, & Aditi Kinkhabwala

• The NFL Today cast welcomes three-time Pro Bowler Kyle Long and Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson to their team, alongside the returning cast members of James Brown, Nate Burleson, and Bill Cowher.

CBS Sports announced its NFL commentary roster for the 2026 season on Tuesday. We will soon preview their NFL team. Notably, lead commentator Tony Romo is on leave until further notice following a suspected OWI last month in Wisconsin. In his absence, CBS has promoted J.J. Watt, who called games with Ian Eagle in 2025, to the main commentary team alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson. This situation is why CBS delayed announcing their announcers by several weeks; they usually do this in late July or early August.

Broadcast Teams:

⮞ 1. Jim Nantz, JJ Watt, Tracy Wolfson

The lead voice of the NFL on CBS, Jim Nantz, enters his 23rd season as CBS’ top NFL announcer. However, following nearly a decade with Tony Romo, Nantz will have a new partner to co-exist with in 2026, as JJ Watt, who first joined CBS Sports in 2023 as studio analyst for The NFL Today before moving over to game coverage in 2025, joins the lead booth. Tracy Wolfson, going on Year #13 as the lead sideline reporter, will once again cover the sidelines.

Nantz, Watt, and Wolfson open the 2026 NFL season in Week 1 as Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings host Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, September 13 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS.

⮞ 2. Ian Eagle, Ross Tucker, Evan Washburn

Ian Eagle, who has called play-by-play for the NFL on CBS since 1998, starts his 29th season of NFL play-by-play duties with a new teammate in the broadcast booth as former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker becomes Eagle’s new colleague in the commentary booth. Tucker, who calls Eagles preseason games on local television and has called NFL on CBS games since 2023, is replacing J.J. Watt (who was promoted to lead analyst in Tony Romo’s absence). Evan Washburn once again roams the sidelines, entering his 13th season in that particular capacity.

In Week 1, Eagle, Tucker, and Washburn will be on-site at Reliant Stadium, as Dion Dawkins and the Buffalo Bills face off against Derek Stingley Jr. and the Houston Texans on Sunday, September 13 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS.

⮞ 3. Kevin Harlan, Trent Green, Melanie Collins

One of the two returning NFL on CBS teams for the 2026 season consists of play-by-play man Kevin Harlan, former NFL quarterback Trent Green, and sideline reporter Melanie Collins. Harlan, Green, and Collins are slated to call games together for the seventh consecutive season (2020-present). Harlan starts his 29th year with CBS Sports, Green starts his 13th year with CBS, and Collins opens up her tenth season on the sidelines.

Harlan, Green, and Collins will provide commentary for the Cardinals-Chargers game in Week 1 (Sunday, September 13 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS).

⮞ 4. Andrew Catalon, Logan Ryan, AJ Ross

Veteran play-by-play announcer Andrew Catalon returns for his 14th season of NFL on CBS play-by-play. Catalon is teamed up with a new analyst this year, two-time Super Bowl champion and former Patriots and Buccaneers defensive back Logan Ryan. Ryan is calling NFL games full-time for the first time ever. Reporter A.J. Ross returns for her eighth season with CBS Sports and is serving as the Catalon reporter for the fourth consecutive year.

Catalon, Ryan, and Ross start their 2026 campaign in Indianapolis as Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens visit Camryn Bynum and the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, September 13 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS.

⮞ 5. Spero Dedes, Adam Archuleta, Aditi Kinkhabwala

The broadcast team of Spero Dedes (play-by-play), the No. 20 pick of the 2001 NFL Draft and former NFL safety Adam Archuleta (analyst), and Aditi Kinkhabwala returns for another campaign as a trio. Dedes, Archuleta, & Kinkhabwala first teamed up in 2023 and have worked together consistently since then, embarking on their fourth year together. Dedes & Archuleta start their seventh year together, as the two are in their second stint as a duo, working first between 2017-2019 and eventually reunited beginning in 2023.

This pairing will be in Nashville as the Jets square off against the Titans on Sunday, September 13 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS during Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.

⮞ 6. Tom McCarthy, Robert Turbin, Tiffany Blackmon

Longtime CBS Sports announcer and current lead Philadelphia Phillies play-by-play broadcaster Tom McCarthy, in his 13th season with CBS Sports, is joined by newcomer and Super Bowl XLVII champion Robert Turbin as an analyst. Tiffany Blackmon handles the sideline duties for this team. Blackmon begins Year #4 with the NFL on CBS in 2026.

The NFL Today:

CBS will once again air an hour-long pregame show before live NFL game coverage every week called “The NFL Today”. This legendary pregame staple, which has been on the air since 1975, kicks off its 52nd season on Sunday, September 13.

The show will air weekly in this traditional 12:00 PM ET to 1:00 PM ET timeslot on Sunday afternoons.

Veteran sportscaster James Brown anchors the program, now in his 21st season at the helm of this iconic pregame show. Joining Brown are Pro Football Hall of Famer Bill Cowher, starting his 20th season with the NFL Today, and Nate Burleson, back for his 10th season with the program. This year, “The NFL Today” is pleased to announce that Super Bowl XLVIII champion Russell Wilson and three-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Kyle Long have joined Brown, Cowher, and Burleson on the main desk.

Hi, everyone! Welcome to this week’s publishing of MLB on Fox: On Deck! We have another Fox Saturday Baseball doubleheader to preview as the race to October continues to get hotter 🔥 with every passing week. On Saturday, August 15, our friends over at Fox Sports will present a “Fox Saturday Baseball” doubleheader featuring teams currently involved in the pennant chase in both leagues. In total, four games are on Fox’s docket this weekend, either nationally (Nationals-Mets) or regionally (Diamondbacks-Braves, Brewers-Dodgers, or Red Sox-Pirates). With that in mind, let’s get into it!

⮞ Nationals vs. Mets — Saturday, 4:00 PM ET on FS1:

Dylan Crews and the Washington Nationals tussle with Francisco Lindor and the New York Mets as two longtime rivals from the National League East go to battle once again on Saturday, August 15 at 4:00 PM ET on FS1.

The Nationals and Mets are playing for the third time this year, with the Nationals leading the season series 4-3. Washington has not won a regular-season series over the Mets since the 2020 COVID year, with the Mets winning the season series in each of the last five seasons. Can Washington finally get over the hump vs. the Mets?

Washington has not made the postseason since they won the World Series back in 2019, missing postseason play in each of the last six seasons. But under manager Blake Butera, Washington has been mostly competitive and opened up some eyes in the National League playoff race. However, the Nationals are under pressure, as they trail the third NL Wild Card spot by 5 GB with roughly 40 games left. This series is vital for the Nationals if they want to close the gap and remain alive in the playoff hunt.

Nationals star SS CJ Abrams is having a wonderful 2026 season, as he is doing his part to help the Nationals somehow remain relevant in the National League playoff picture. He is batting .287 with 28 home runs, 89 RBIs, 22 stolen bases, and .903 CPS. In his last 7 games, the Washington shortstop has scored five runs and collected nine hits. If Abrams can continue to 🔥 light it up, and if things go Washington’s way, you DON’T wanna see this club in a potential playoff series.

🔷 Baseball Night in America | Brewers at Dodgers, Diamondbacks at Braves, Red Sox at Pirates (regional coverage) — Saturday, 7:00 PM ET on Fox and Fox One:

Following Nationals-Mets, Fox takes over the national spotlight with this week’s edition of “Baseball Night in America” on Saturday, August 15, at 7:00 PM ET on Fox. Baseball Night in America has been a Saturday primetime staple on Fox for more than a decade. This week, Fox is scheduled to regionalize three games across the country, with the game selection including Brewers-Dodgers, Diamondbacks-Braves, and Red Sox-Pirates. Which game will you be watching and who will be calling the action? Read on to find out the answers to that two-part question.

⮞ Brewers vs. Dodgers — Saturday, 7:00 PM ET on Fox & Fox One:

In a massive National League showdown, Brice Turang and the Milwaukee Brewers are set to clash with Miguel Rojas and the defending two-time World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, August 15, at 7:00 PM ET on Fox and Fox One.

The Brewers won 5-1 in the opener of a three-game series between these strong National League contenders at Milwaukee’s American Family Field in late May before Los Angeles claimed victory in the following two games to take the series. Los Angeles has had Milwaukee’s number as of late, winning six of the previous seven meetings (2025 NLCS and 2026 series in Milwaukee earlier this season). Los Angeles swept away Milwaukee in the 2025 NLCS before winning their second consecutive World Series.

Will the Brewers finally reach a place that has alluded them for over 40 years? The World Series. Milwaukee hasn’t played in MLB’s championship series since 1982. Milwaukee has the best record in baseball at 74-45, but didn’t pull the trigger on a franchise-altering trade deadline acquisition (like the Dodgers did with Tarik Skubal). It should be noted that Milwaukee attempted to pursue Skubal, but obviously LA swooped and grabbed the two-time Cy Young Award winner instead. Obviously, Milwaukee will be under immense pressure if these teams were to meet in the postseason again, but winning a series at Dodger Stadium would be huge for the Brewers (a team that everybody thinks isn’t good enough to be the class of the National League).

Tarik Skubal is scheduled to face the Brewers on Sunday afternoon. Skubal made his Dodgers home debut vs. the Royals on Monday night. Brewers rising star Jacob Misiorowski is scheduled to pitch against the Dodgers on Saturday night. Recently, Misiorowski hit the 200 strikeout mark for the season. Unforunately, the two won't pitch versus each other this weekend, but it's must-see television any time that these two hurlers are slated to take the mound.

⮞ Diamondbacks vs. Braves — Saturday, 7:00 PM ET on Fox & Fox One:

This weekend series from Atlanta’s Truist Park is certainly imperative for these two squads, as Gabriel Moreno and the Arizona Diamondbacks face Mauricio Dubón and the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, August 15, at 7:00 PM ET on Fox and Fox One, as both teams continue their respective chase towards a playoff spot.

Atlanta and Arizona are suiting up against each other for the first time since early April, when the two clubs split a four-game series at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Can the Diamondbacks shake up the playoff field again this year? The Diamondbacks have not qualified for the postseason since the 2023 season, when they eliminated the Brewers, Dodgers, and Phillies to qualify for their first World Series since 2001, before losing to the Rangers in five games. Currently in a tie with the Phillies for the second and third Wild Card spots in the National League, the Diamondbacks have posted a 15-9 record since the All-Star break. The D-backs try to separate themselves from Fernando Tatís Jr. and the surging Padres (also in contention for a Wild Card spot) despite a difficult assignment of playing the Braves this weekend.

Braves DH Ronald Acuña Jr. has seemingly put himself right back into the middle of a brawny Braves lineup. Acuña Jr. returned to game action in late July after a hamstring injury kept him out for an extended period of time. Over his last seven games, Acuña Jr. is batting .259 with three runs scored, seven hits, three home runs, and five runs batted in. The return of Acuña Jr. is welcome for a Braves team trying to compete for another World Series ring.

⮞ Red Sox vs. Pirates — Saturday, 7:00 PM ET on Fox & Fox One:

Interleague baseball is offered when Andruw Monasterio and the Boston Red Sox tangle with Ronny Simon and the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, August 15, at 7:00 PM ET on Fox and Fox One.

This is the first meeting between Boston and Pittsburgh this year. Last year, the Pirates took two out of three from the Red Sox during a late August series at Fenway Park. Now, the Pirates host a surging Red Sox team that has the baseball world SHOOK 🤯 with their improbable in-season turnaround.

The Red Sox have stunned the baseball world with their amazing rise from the dead. On July 1, the Red Sox entered that month with a 37-48 record. Since then, Boston has posted an unbelievable 27-7 record, including that insane 15-game winning streak that has vaulted Boston back into the American League playoff conversation. It has been a dismal decade in Pittsburgh, as the Pirates haven’t made the postseason since 2015, and they have one of the longest playoff droughts in the league. The time is NOW for Pittsburgh to make a playoff run, as they trail the Phillies by 6 GB for the last Wild Card spot. Pittsburgh can’t afford to lose too many more series if the Pirates hope to snap their prolonged postseason drought.

Take a moment to appreciate what Red Sox center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela is doing right now. Rafaela is picking a great time to sizzle as his Red Sox continue this magic carpet ride. In Rafaela’s last 15 contests, the fourth-year player has scored 11 times, picked up 22 hits, and smashed 5 home runs (including several in that Dodgers series).
