Sunday, October 20, 2024

  • Marquee World Series Matchup: For the 12th time (and for the first time 1981), the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees square off in the Fall Classic to determine the champion in Major League Baseball.
  • Star-Studded Championship Series ⭐: The 2024 World Series presented by Capital One features several stars across both teams, including Mookie Betts, Juan Soto, Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, and many more!
  • The Top Team in the Booth: FOX's lead MLB commentary crew of Joe Davis (play-by-play) and John Smoltz (analyst) provide commentary for the Yankees-Dodgers World Series, with reporters Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci.
  • On-Site Studio Coverage: FOX to provide pregame and postgame coverage for every World Series game, with a robust studio lineup on-site at Dodger Stadium & Yankee Stadium, featuring host Kevin Burkhardt, Hall of Famers David Ortiz and Derek Jeter, and World Series Champion Alex Rodriguez.
  • A Primetime Spectacle: Every Yankees-Dodgers World Series game is slated for 8:00 PM (ET) start times, meaning this will be the crown jewel on the primetime schedule during every single game night.

Following the completion of both League Championship Series, Major League Baseball has the dream matchup in the 2024 World Series presented by Capital One. Giancarlo Stanton and the American League champions New York Yankees take on Shohei Ohtani and the National League champions Los Angeles Dodgers in the best-of-seven series to determine baseball's champion for the 2024 season. Both Yankees and Dodgers finished first in their respective leagues in terms of seeding (#1 seed). The Dodgers, however, have home-field advantage in the Fall Classic due to finishing the regular season with an impressive 98-64 record.

The Yankees bested the Cleveland Guardians in five games in the American League Championship Series to capture the franchise's 41st American League pennant, thanks to Juan Soto's extra-inning heroics in the 10th inning of that game. The Yankees make their first World Series appearance since 2009! Meanwhile, the Dodgers are back in the World Series for the fourth time in the past eight seasons (2017, 2018, 2020 & 2024) after getting past the New York Mets in six games in the National League Championship Series. The Dodgers qualified for the World Series for the 26th time in franchise history.

In the words of Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani through an interpreter to MLB on FOX reporter Ken Rosenthal following Mets-Dodgers NLDS Game 6, "This is a place that I've dreamt of playing all of my life. To be able to finally come to this stage, be able to play, and hopefully win it is my next goal."

Indeed, two of baseball's marquee franchises will battle it out for a championship 🏆! Stars are plentiful here, including Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Juan Soto and Gerritt Cole.

The 2024 World Series presented by Capital One will start on Friday, October 25 as Aaron Judge and New York Yankees visit Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers for Game 1 of the 120th Fall Classic. Coverage begins at 7:00 PM (ET) on FOX with a one-hour pregame program, featuring host Kevin Burkhardt, Hall of Famers Derek Jeter and David Ortiz and World Series Champion Alex Rodriguez.

Then, at 8:00 PM (ET) on FOX, the broadcast team takes over as Joe Davis (play-by-play) and Hall of Famer John Smoltz (analyst) are set to have the Game 1 Yankees-Dodgers call from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, joined by reporters Tom Verducci and Ken Rosenthal.

Following Friday's night opening game of the World Series, World Series coverage will continue on FOX through at least Tuesday, October 29. If additional games are needed in the World Series, Game 5 will take place on Wednesday, October 30, Game 6 will be on Friday, November 1, and a potential winner-take-all Game 7 is scheduled for Saturday, November 2.

  • The 31st season of the "NFL on FOX" continues on Sunday, October 27 with a Week #8 singleheader, with game action including Falcons at Buccaneers, Bills at Seahawks, among other games.
  • Charissa Thompson, Julian Edelman, Michael Vick, Charles Woodson & Peter Schrager offer the first look at Sunday's NFL action on "FOX NFL Kickoff", beginning at 11:00 AM (ET).
  • Pregame studio coverage continues at 12:00 PM (ET) with the legendary "FOX NFL Sunday", as Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Rob Gronkowski, Howie Long, Michael Strahan & Jay Glazer prepare viewers for Sunday's slate of football action.
  • First place in the NFC South is on the line as Drake London and the Atlanta Falcons (4-3) visit Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3) on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX.
  • A very exciting interconference matchup is on the docket as Josh Allen, Amari Cooper and the Buffalo Bills (5-2) make the long trek out to Seattle for a matchup with Geno Smith, Leonard Williams and the Seattle Seahawks (4-3) on Sunday, October 27 at 4:05 PM (ET) on FOX.

The road to Super Bowl LIX continues with a FOX singleheader during Week #8 on Sunday, October 27. FOX will have six games on the schedule, including: Packers at Jaguars (1:00 PM ET), Falcons at Buccaneers (1:00 PM ET), Titans at Lions (1:00 PM ET), Cardinals at Dolphins (1:00 PM ET), Bills at Seahawks (4:05 PM ET) & Saints at Chargers (4:05 PM ET). Which game will your local FOX station (market) receive this Sunday? Keep reading to find out the answer to that previous question.

The "big" game on FOX this weekend takes place from Lumen Field in Seattle, as two division leaders hit the gridiron when Damar Hamlin and the AFC East leading Buffalo Bills (5-2) encounter Kenneth Walker III and the NFC West leading Seattle Seahawks (4-3). 🎙 The Bills-Seahawks game, which starts at 4:05 PM ET on FOX, will have FOX's lead commentary crew on the call: Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play), seven time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady (analyst), Erin Andrews (reporter) & Tom Rinaldi (reporter).

FOX will open up Week #8 singleheader coverage with two live hours of pregame programming, beginning with "FOX NFL Kickoff" at 11:00 AM (ET). Host Charissa Thompson, analyst and four-time Pro Bowler Michael Vick, analyst and three-time Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman, analyst and Hall of Famer Charles Woodson and insider Peter Schrager dissect the upcoming day's slate of action and offer their thoughts and analysis. In addition to the main cast, contributors Colin Cowherd and Cooper Manning are expected to contribute segments to the program.

Later, FOX's Week #8 pregame coverage marches ahead with the legendary "FOX NFL Sunday" pregame show at 12:00 PM (ET). Of course, "FOX NFL Sunday" is led by co-hosts Curt Menefee and Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw. Joining Menefee and Bradshaw at the desk are Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, Hall of Famer Howie Long, and four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski (filling in for Jimmy Johnson). Rounding out the "FOX NFL Sunday" cast is longtime insider Jay Glazer, who furnishes pertinent information, news and notes from the NFL world.

FOX switches from the studio to the game sites for live game coverage at 1:00 PM (ET) for markets that are eligible to receive a early contest (check the bottom of this article or your local listings in your area). FOX possesses four games to air on a regional basis in the 1:00 PM (ET) window, including Packers at Jaguars, Falcons at Buccaneers, Cardinals at Dolphins & Titans at Lions. I will dispense more details about these four games in just a moment.

Romeo Doubs and the Green Bay Packers (5-2) hit the road this week to compete against Tank Bigsby and Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) at Jacksonville's EverBank Stadium on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. This is the eighth matchup all-time in the series between these franchises, the Packers having a 5-2 edge through seven games. This is the first Packers' visit to Jacksonville since 2016 (although the Packers played a game in Jacksonville in 2021 as a game vs. the Saints had to be moved there due to Hurricane Ida). Packers QB Jordan Love has posted 16 straight games with 200+ passing yards and at least one passing touchdown. Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. caught five passes for 89 yards, including a 58-yarder, and a touchdown vs. the Patriots in London last week, a game in which the Jaguars ultimately won 32-16, for the franchise's 200th win. 🎙 Sunday's Packers-Jaguars game will be broadcasted by FOX, with play-by-play man Kenny Albert, analyst and Super Bowl champion Jonathan Vilma, and reporter Megan Olivi on the call.

Bijan Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons (4-3) participate in a consequential NFC South showdown with Antoine Winfield Jr. and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3) on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. The Falcons are coming off a distressing 34-14 to the Seahawks last week. The Falcons are 2-0 in road games this season. Of course, this is the second matchup between these two teams in the month of October. In Week 5, the two clubs played a thrilling "Thursday Night Football" game when KhaDarel Hodge scored a game-winning 45-yard touchdown as the Falcons sank the Buccaneers 36-30 in overtime. Now, the Buccaneers look for revenge. The Buccaneers are coming off a costly 41-31 loss to the Ravens last week, losing wide receivers Chris Godwin (dislocated ankle) and Mike Evans (hamstring) in the process. Since QB Baker Mayfield came to Tampa in 2023, he is second in the league in terms of passing touchdowns (46), trailing only Green Bay's Jordan Love (47). 🎙 Sunday's Falcons-Buccaneers clash will be nationally televised by FOX, with Adam Amin calling play-by-play, three-time Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen analyzing game action & veteran reporter Pam Oliver on the field.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Tennessee Titans (1-5) continue their two-game sojourn across the country with a stop in Detroit to meet up with Amon-Ra St. Brown and the formidable Detroit Lions (5-1) on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. The Titans will pay a visit at Detroit's Ford Field for the first time since 2016. Despite Tennessee's poor win-loss record, their defense is the #1 in the NFL through six games, allowing opposing teams an average of 272.2 yards per game. Titans QB Mason Rudolph got his first start as a Titan last week in the team's 34-10 drubbing against the Bills. Rudolph went 25-for-40 for 215 yards with one touchdown and one interception in Week 7 vs. the Bills. Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown caught eight passes for 112 yards and one touchdown vs. the Vikings in Week 7 (a close 31-29 Lions victory). According to many, Lions QB Jared Goff has a case for this season's MVP award. Jared can further cement his case this weekend vs. the Titans. 🎙 This week's Titans-Lions broadcast on FOX features Kevin Kugler (play-by-play), three-time Super Bowl champion Daryl Johnston (analyst) & Laura Okmin (reporter).

Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals (3-4) travel cross country for an interconference showdown with Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins (2-4) on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on FOX. The Cardinals are coming off a short week, in the aftermath of a tight 17-15 win over the Chargers on "Monday Night Football". Arizona has won two of their last three contests, trying to keep pace with the Seattle Seahawks (who enter Week #8 as the leaders in the NFC West) for first place in the division. Cardinals RB James Conner fueled Monday's comeback win over the Chargers with 101 rushing yards on 19 carries. Keep an eye out on Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (concussion), as he might be close on returning to the Dolphins lineup. Dolphins RB De'Von Achane led the Dolphins in rushing in Week 7 (a 16-10 loss to the Colts) with 77 yards on 15 carries. 🎙 Jason Benetti handles play-by-play action for Sunday's Cardinals-Dolphins game on FOX, with analyst and three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth and reporter Jennifer Hale.

Later, for those of you that have to wait for 4:00 PM (ET) to get a FOX game, FOX continues singleheader coverage at 4:00 PM (ET) (with game kickoff at 4:05 PM ET). Two games are slated for the late afternoon singleheader window this week including Bills at Seahawks and Saints at Chargers. I will put forward additional information about these late afternoon FOX matchups in the ensuing paragraphs.

First-place clubs that are coming off victories collide as Amari Cooper and the AFC East leading Buffalo Bills (5-2) visit Leonard Williams and the NFC West leading Seattle Seahawks (4-3) on Sunday, October 27 at 4:05 PM (ET) on FOX. The Bills pulled away from the Titans 34-10 in Week 7. The Seahawks shocked the Falcons 34-14 in Week 7. The Seahawks are 2-2 (.500) in four home games at Lumen Field so far in 2024. 🎙 FOX's lead crew will be on the Bills-Seahawks call Sunday - Play-by-play commentator Kevin Burkhardt, analyst and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, reporter Erin Andrews & reporter Tom Rinaldi.

Demario Davis and the New Orleans Saints (2-5) will be involved in a third consecutive AFC West matchup when they face Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers (3-3) on Sunday, October 27 at 4:05 PM (ET) on FOX. This is the 14th all-time meeting between the Saints and Chargers, with the Chargers owing a slight 7-6 edge. The Saints have been ravaged by injuries over the course of the first seven games. The Saints are looking to stop the bleeding, as the team have lost five consecutive games entering Week #8. Saints WR Cedrick Wilson Jr. had 6 receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown vs. the Broncos in Week 7. Chargers K Cameron Dicker scored all 15 points (five-for-five, all via field goals) for the Chargers in their 17-15 loss to the Cardinals in Week 7. The Chargers defense is one of the top defenses in the league, allowing just 13.8 points per game (best in the NFL). 🎙 Chris Myers (play-by-play), Mark Sanchez (analyst) and Kristina Pink (reporter) have the Saints-Chargers call Sunday for FOX.

  • Fresh off a well-deserved NFC Player of the Week award, Saquon Barkley and his Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) strive for their third straight win against Ja'Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS, featuring the commentary crew of Ian Eagle, Charles Davis and Evan Washburn.
  • In the national doubleheader window, two up and coming from the NFC square off at Northwest Stadium as rookie Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears (4-2) visit the speedster Terry McLaurin and the surprisingly good Washington Commanders (5-2) on Sunday, October 27 at 4:25 PM (ET) on CBS, with CBS dispatching their top crew of Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, and Tracy Wolfson to handle the call.

From a Super Bowl 50 re-match (Panthers vs. Broncos), to an interesting interconference matchup between the Eagles and Bengals, to several divisional showdowns (Chiefs vs. Raiders, Ravens vs. Browns, Colts vs. Texans and Jets vs. Patriots), CBS has something for everybody as the network prepares for a Week #8 doubleheader this Sunday, October 27.

The NFL on CBS has a busy SEVEN-game slate this weekend, including the following matchups: Ravens vs. Browns (1:00 PM ET), Colts vs. Texans (1:00 PM ET), Jets vs. Patriots (1:00 PM ET), Eagles vs. Bengals (1:00 PM ET), Bears vs. Commanders (4:25 PM ET), Chiefs vs. Raiders (4:25 PM ET) and Panthers vs. Broncos (4:25 PM ET). Supplemental information about this weekend's NFL on CBS coverage will be provided in the following paragraphs.

The main "headliner" for CBS on this doubleheader Sunday coming up is the late afternoon game between the Chicago Bears and the Washington Commanders (4:25 PM ET). This matchup, which was recently flexed from an original 1:00 PM ET start to a 4:25 PM ET start, features a pair of clubs opening up plenty of eyes across the NFL landscape in 2024. 🎙 Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (analyst) & Tracy Wolfson (reporter) will be on Sunday's Bears-Commanders television call for CBS.

Before the games begin, CBS will head to the studio for "The NFL Today" pregame show at 12:00 PM (ET). The one-hour pregame show will discuss the top news and storylines entering Week #8. Veteran host James Brown anchors the program, alongside analysts Nate Burleson, Matt Ryan, and Bill Cowher. Lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones also appears on the show to provide the latest news and information from around the National Football League.

At 1:00 PM (ET), CBS heads out to the various NFL stadiums across the country for the first part of the doubleheader. Four games will be regionalized in this window, including Eagles at Bengals, Ravens at Browns, Colts at Texans and Jets at Patriots. Additional details regarding these four games will be announced in the paragraphs to follow this one.

A pair of teams on two-game winning streaks clash in Cincinnati as A.J. Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) travel to Paycor Stadium this week for a matchup with Ja'Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. This game is expected to be the "lead" early game in the CBS doubleheader, with 70% of the country scheduled to watch this interconference matchup. Eagles RB Saquon Barkley leads the team with five rushing touchdowns through six games. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is tied for 7th in the league with 11 total touchdowns (7 passing, 4 rushing). The Bengals have a top 10 stat in terms of points scored, averaging 25.4 points per game. Bengals QB Joe Burrow went 15-for-25 for 181 yards and two touchdowns in a 21-14 win over the Browns in Week 7. 🎙 Sunday's Eagles-Bengals game will be on CBS, with Ian Eagle (play-by-play), Charles Davis (analyst) and Evan Washburn (reporter) calling the action.

For the second and final time this regular season, Joe Mixon and the Houston Texans (5-2) engage in a divisional battle with Anthony Richardson and the Indianapolis Colts (4-3) on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. The game is set to be aired in 11% of the country, with markets including Houston, Indianapolis & Nashville, just to name a few. CJ Stroud and the Texans received the hosting assignment this time, after the clubs met at Lucas Oil Stadium in Week 1 (a 29-27 win for the Texans). Texans RB Joe Mixon had an exceptional performance in Houston's tough 24-22 loss to the Packers, running for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Colts QB Anthony Richardson (the second year man from Florida) went 10-for-24 for 129 yards in Week 7 during a 16-10 victory over the Dolphins. 🎙 Sunday's Colts-Texans game will be nationally televised on CBS, with Andrew Catalon (play-by-play) and three-time Pro Bowler Tiki Barber (analyst) in the booth, with AJ Ross (reporter) reporting from the field.

Following a international matchup last week, rookie quarterback Drake Maye and his New England Patriots (1-6) return stateside to square off against Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams and the New York Jets (2-5) in a AFC East matchup on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. This game is set to go to 11% of the country, including Boston & New York City. Jets edge Will McDonald IV leads the AFC in sacks, with eight of them through Week 7. Jets RB Breece Hall has 307 receiving yards as of right now, the most among running backs in the NFL. This is expected to be the third start of Patriots rookie QB Drake Maye (#3 overall pick in 2024 NFL Draft from North Carolina) following previous starts against the Texans in Week 6 and the Jaguars [in London] in Week 7. In two starts thus far, Drake has accounted for five touchdowns. The Patriots are struggling, to say the least, with six consecutive losses entering this game. 🎙 Sunday's Jets-Patriots game will be broadcasted by CBS, with Spero Dedes (play-by-play), Adam Archuleta (analyst) and Aditi Kinkhabwala (reporter) describing the action.

Two AFC North teams step on the Huntington Bank Field gridiron this Sunday as Lamar Jackson and streaking Baltimore Ravens (5-2) take on David Njoku and the Cleveland Browns (1-6) on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. 8% of the nation will watch this game, including Baltimore, Cleveland, Pittsburgh & Washington DC. This is the first of two games between these divisional opponents this season. The Ravens, following a ugly 0-2 start, have now won five straight games to find themselves tied at the top of the AFC North standings (with the Steelers). The Ravens have the #1 offense (461.4 ypg) in football, led by two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. Browns RB Nick Chubb made his 2024 debut last week vs. the Bengals (21-14 loss), getting a rushing touchdown on that day. Browns TE David Njoku tied a career-high with 10 balls caught vs. the Bengals last week. 🎙 Calling Sunday's Ravens-Browns game on CBS is Tom McCarthy (play-by-play), Ross Tucker (analyst), Jay Feely (analyst) and Amanda Balionis (reporter).

Later in the day, at 4:25 PM (ET), the doubleheader on CBS continues with the national doubleheader window. The 4:25 PM (ET) window is filled with a full three-game slate of late afternoon matchups, including Bears at Commanders, Panthers at Broncos and Chiefs at Raiders. Stay tuned for quick summaries of every 4:25 PM (ET) matchup on CBS this week.

Washington, D.C. native and 2024 NFL Draft #1 overall pick Caleb Williams returns to home area/region as he leads the Chicago Bears (4-2) into Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland where they will face Emmanuel Forbes Jr. and the Washington Commanders (5-2) on Sunday, October 27 at 4:25 PM (ET) on CBS. This is the "lead" late game for CBS, with 52% of the country set to be assigned to this matchup. As you know, both of these squads are off surprising starts to open up 2024. The Bears are carrying some recent momentum into Week 8's game, winning three straight games before the team's Week 7 bye week. Bears QB Caleb Williams leads the team with 1,317 passing yards through six games. Bears WR DJ Moore is tied for the team led with three receiving touchdowns. Commanders LB Dante Fowler Jr. had an interception last week in the team's dominant 40-7 win over the Panthers. Commanders QB and 2024 NFL Draft #2 overall pick Jayden Daniels, is questionable, due to a rib injury he suffered last week vs. the Panthers (if Daniels can't go, backup QB Marcus Mariota would start in his place). 🎙 Jim Nantz (play-by-play), former NFL quarterback Tony Romo (analyst) and Tracy Wolfson (reporter) handle Sunday's Bears-Commanders television broadcast for CBS.

Patrick Mahomes and the defending two-time Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (6-0) look to remain unbeaten as they travel to Las Vegas to play Maxx Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders (2-5) on Sunday, October 27 at 4:25 PM (ET) on CBS. A good sized portion of the country is set to observe this game, as 40% of the country is pegged for this game, including Boston, Buffalo, Kansas City, Las Vegas, San Francisco & St. Louis, among others. This is the first of two matchups between these two teams this season. The Chiefs entered this game with a perfect 6-0 record following a 28-18 win over the 49ers last week. Since entering the league back in 2016, Chiefs DT Chris Jones leads all defensive tackles in passes defensed (37). This is the first week since the Chiefs acquired five-time Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans. Alexander Mattison and the Raiders are looking to stop a three-game losing streak, which includes a 20-15 loss to the Rams last week. 🎙 Kevin Harlan (play-by-play), former NFL quarterback Trent Green (analyst) & Melanie Collins (reporter) provide commentary for Sunday's Chiefs-Raiders broadcast on CBS.

Second year quarterback Bryce Young is back in the starting lineup as the Panthers starting quarterback as the Carolina Panthers (1-6) head to the Mile High City for a Week 8 meeting with Javonte Williams and the Denver Broncos (4-3) on Sunday, October 27 at 4:25 PM (ET) on CBS. 8% of the country will watch this matchup, including Charlotte & Denver. Bryce Young is expected to start this weekend's game with the Broncos following a car accident involving fellow QB Andy Dalton that took place earlier this week, resulting in Dalton getting a sprained right thumb. Bryce was previously the Panthers' starter at QB during the 2023 season and for the first two weeks of the 2024 season, because Young was benched in favor of Dalton. Courtland Sutton and the Broncos have found a nice rhythm after a tough 0-2 start, winning four of their last five games (the lone loss in this stretch coming to the Chargers in Week 6). 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Chris Lewis teams up with analyst and Super Bowl champion Jason McCourty and reporter Amanda Guerra for this Sunday's Panthers-Broncos call on CBS.
