NBC to Present SNF-High Three Playoff Games, Including First-Ever Primetime Sunday Wild Card Game on Jan. 10
NBC Sports announced their 2020 NFL season schedule on Thursday night. NBC will be the home for 24 games during the 2020 season: 19 regular season games, 3 postseason games & 2 preseason games during the month of August.
Sunday Night Football returns to the NBC broadcast network for the 15th straight season in 2020.
NBC will televise the first matchup of the 2020 regular season on Thursday, Sept. 10, from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs raise their Super Bowl banner prior to hosting Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans in NFL Kickoff 2020 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
The Texans and the Chiefs played twice at Arrowhead Stadium, once during the regular season (Week 6) and during the postseason (AFC Divisional Playoffs). In the regular season contest, Mahomes and Watson combined for six touchdowns, including Deshaun's game winning touchdown on a fourth quarter run.
In the rematch in January during the AFC Divisional Playoffs, Patrick led the largest comeback in Chiefs franchise history (24-0 2nd quarter deficit) passing for 321 yards and 5 touchdowns in a 51-31 victory.
In the season opener of Sunday Night Football on Sept. 13, NFL fans will get their first look at the new SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys visit Jared Goff and the Rams. SoFi Stadium marks the fifth stadium opening on Sunday Night Football, dating back to 2009.
The Mahomes-Watson matchup in the opening salavo is just the first of a loaded NBC SNF schedule with terrific and exciting quarterback matchups, spearheaded by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers visiting the NFL all-time passing yards leader Drew Brees on Sept. 27 & Brees and the Saints visiting four-time NFL MVP Tom Brady and his new Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates on Nov. 8.
In addition to NFL Kickoff 2020, NBC will televise three playoff games this season - two Wild Card and one Divisional round game. This amount of games is the most playoff games that NBC has televised since their package debuted in 2006.
On the weekend of January 9-10, NBC will present two Wild Card playoff games, including the NFL's first-ever Sunday night Wild Card playoff game (the game that was added in March, when the NFL expanded the playoffs from 12 to 14 teams).
The following weekend, January 16-17, NBC will finish their season with coverage of an AFC Divisional Playoff Game (whatever game CBS does NOT get).
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this schedule is subject to change.
The 2020 Sunday Night Football on NBC schedule is below:
Preseason (cancelled):

My guess for games that will get flexed out
ReplyDeleteWeek 5 MIN SEA for PHI PIT
Week 11 KC LV for TEN BAL or DAL MIN
Week 12 CHI GB for KC TB
Week 14 PIT BUF for NO PHI
The only game I see having a good chance is Ten-Bal. Week 5 is too early and it would have to be supremely obvious Phi-Pit will be the game to switch to with no shred of doubt. Min or Sea would have to start out 0-3 for the NFL to decide a week in advance they want to switch that game. Plus Dal-Min, KC-TB, and NO-Phi all figure to be the main late double-header games. The NFL does not switch those games into SNF, but rather games that originally would be seen be a relatively small audience.
DeleteI'm guessing Mike Trico, Rodney Harrison, and Tony Dungy does the thanksgiving game again this year
ReplyDeleteJust came out that Mike Tirico is calling the Week 3 SNF game in place of Al Michaels
ReplyDeleteThat's right. NBC will be giving Al Michaels select "bye weeks" during the season to minimize travel (because unlike Tirico who lives in Michigan, Michaels lives in Los Angeles, Calif.). Tirico will be used to call any games that Michaels will be using for any reason this year.
DeleteNBC Should consider flexing out 49ers Eagles in week 4, 49ers have so many injuries just like the Eagles do and plus both teams as of right now have a combined 1 win between them. Steelers Titans or Bills Raiders should be considered as its replacement.
ReplyDeleteWeeks 1-4 are not eligible for flexibility.
DeleteWeeks 1-4 are not eligible for flexibility.
DeleteNBC should consider flexing out Vikings-Seahawks in Week 5. Vikings are 0-2 this season. I think Raiders Chiefs should be considered a replacement.
ReplyDeleteI figured that, too. It looks like the LV-KC game will be seen by most of the country this week on CBS' first slot in their DH. All the other games are pretty much just local so at least a lot of people can see that one. And of course the Vikings are not looking so good this year. But sometimes it seems the NFL sometimes is okay with wanting match-ups as long as a hot team is on display.
DeleteNBC should've flexed out MIN-SEA for BUF-TEN for Week 5.
ReplyDeleteThey could flex out TB-LV for PIT-BAL for Week 8.
Week 13 --> DEN-KC could be flexed out for KC-TB.
Week 17 --> SEA-SF flexed in due to NFC West Division Implications.
Whoops, Week 13 --> DEN-KC could be flexed out for CLE-TEN my bad.
ReplyDeleteSNF flex predictions
ReplyDeleteWeek 7 --> TB-LV moves to Fox @ 4:05 and PIT-TEN moves to SNF.
Week 8 --> DAL-PHI moves to CBS @ 1:00 and PIT-BAL moves to SNF.
Week 13 --> DEN-KC moves to Fox @ 4:05 and either CLE-TEN or LA-ARI moves to SNF.
Week 17 --> SEA-SF moves to SNF.
What do you think of these predictions Tamir?
Danyal that did get moved out however it's because the Raiders have COVID-19 and Seattle Arizona got moved to SNF in week 7
DeleteWeek 13: DEN-KC should be flexed out for CLE-TEN.
ReplyDeleteNope it shouldn't the Browns stuck and Baker Mayfield sucks they got destroyed by the Steelers the day before you posted this
DeleteThe NFL needs to flex out the Cowboys@Eagles game in week 8 out of SNF NOW. No one and I mean no from the sorry NFC Least deserve to be in prime time. Raiders Browns, Bears Saints, 49ers Seahawks, Patriots Bills or Steelers Ravens are all deserving more on Sunday Night Football than this sorry match-up of Eagles Cowboys. If the NFL can't make this flex someone from the NFL Scheduling department should be fired, I don't see how its that hard of a decision to make, flex them to Noon now NFL, DO IT, DO IT Now.
ReplyDeleteI agree this is how the NFL Sunday Slate should look like
DeleteCBS

Jets vs. Chiefs (Ian Eagle, Charles Davis, Evan Washburn)
Patriots vs. Bills (Kevin Harlan, Trent Green, Melanie Collins)

Colts vs. Lions (Andrew Catalon, James Lofton, Michael Grady)

Vikings vs. Packers (Kevin Burkhardt, Daryl Johnston, Pam Oliver)
Raiders vs. Browns (Kevin Kugler, Chris Spielman, Laura Okmin)

4:25 PM ET
Saints vs. Bears (Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Erin Andrews)
49ers vs. Seahawks (Kenny Albert, Jonathan Vilma, Shannon Spake)
What do you think Robert Zoline?
Just FYI I believe the Raiders have a COVID-19 situation therefore the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game at Vegas against them has been moved to earlier in the day and Seahawks and Cardinals is Sunday Night Football in week 7
ReplyDeleteNFL made a late scheduling change for this week. They have flexed out the Buccaneers-Raiders game out of NBC and put Seattle @ Arizona in it's spot. This is due to a couple of Raiders players testing positive for Covid-19. Buccaneers @ Raiders game so far will be at 4:05pm on FOX
ReplyDeleteWeeks 11-17 Flex Predictions
ReplyDeleteWeek 11: KC-LV flexed out for TEN-BAL
Week 13: DEN-KC flexed out for CLE-TEN
Week 15: SF-DAL flexed out for KC-NO
Week 17: ARI-LA flexed in due to NFC West Division implications.
Ravens Patriots might get flexed out of SNF for week 10.

What match-up should the NFL replace the week 13 SNF game featuring Broncos Chiefs, Browns at Titans or Rams at Cardinals?
ReplyDeleteRams at Cardinals
DeleteThey should replace PHI @ AZ for Wk15 in primetime. SF @ DAL don't deserve to be in primetime.
DeleteWell Nick Foles left the game late with a shoulder injury on a cart. If I were the NFL, I would flex out the Bears Packers game out of week 12 in the SNF Slot on Thanksgiving weekend and replace it with Titans Colts match-up. The Bears don’t deserve to primetime with that garbage offense and no one wants to see Trubsiky or Tyler Bray in primetime do they?????????????
ReplyDeleteSo would I. With the offense the Bears have the Packers ought to run all over them.
DeleteSteelers Ravens has been postponed to Sunday network and time TBD
ReplyDeleteNo Ravens vs. Steelers Thanksgiving game anymore
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving night game moved to 1:15 p.m. on Sunday still on NBC
ReplyDeleteNBC will now televise Ravens Steelers at 115 Eastern Time on Sunday as the game will no longer be on Thanksgiving night as the Ravens are getting more and more positive tests within their organization. Now the big question is who will call Ravens Steelers on Sunday. Mike Tirico, Tony Dungy and Kathryn Tappen will be calling Bears Packers on Sunday Night as of right now.
ReplyDeleteSteelers Ravens will be played Sunday at 1:15 on NBC with that i wondor what the announcer teams for Steelers Ravens and Bears Packers will be
ReplyDeletehttps://nbcsportsgrouppressbox.com/2020/11/25/nbc-nfl-broadcast-teams-announced-for-two-games-this-sun-nov-29-rescheduled-ravens-steelers-at-1-p-m-et-on-nbc-and-bears-packers-on-nbc-sunday-night-football/
ReplyDeleteBecause of the Ravens-Steelers game being postponed to this Sunday, Al Michaels no longer has the weekend off.
Ravens-Steelers at 1 PM (national broadcast kickoff at 1:15): Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth, Michele Tafoya
Bears-Packers at 8:20 PM: Mike Tirico, Tony Dungy, Kathryn Tappen
Al Michaels will replace Mike Tirico as the play-by-play man for Ravens-Steelers
ReplyDeleteLooks like 49ers-Cowboys game will be flexed out of Sunday Night Football on Sunday, December 20, 2020.
ReplyDeleteIt should but the NFL loves Dallas
DeleteWeek 14 i could see Steelers Bills getting flexed out for Chiefs Dolphins
ReplyDeleteNot gonna happen. Pittsburgh-Buffalo features two division leaders in the AFC. It looks like Nantz and Romo will have the call for KC-Mia.
DeleteRavens Steelers is NOW on Tuesday
ReplyDeleteNFL announced that Steelers Ravens will be played on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh on NBC with Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth and Michelle Tafoya calling the game. Assuming that game is played then Ravens Cowboys from Balitmore which is scheduled for Thursday night will be moved be to Monday at 5pm eastern time which will be on Fox/NFL Network and Amazon Prime and I think Bills 49ers stays on at 615 eastern time on ESPN and ABC for the regular Monday Night game in Santa Clara.
ReplyDelete815 Eastern time beg your pardon for the 49ers Bills game.
DeleteAlso Ravens-Steelers play-by-play is now Mike Tirico again
ReplyDeleteRavens-Steelers has postponed for a third time, it is now on Wednesday, December 2 at 3:40 p.m.
ReplyDeleteRavens Steelers is now Wednesday, December 2nd at 3:40PM

ReplyDeleteIf I were the NFL, I would 100% flex 49ers/Cowboys out of Sunday Night Football in Week 15.
ReplyDeleteSo would I. I would flex in NE-MIA.
DeleteYou didn't get that game but they did finally flex it out did you see that for Browns vs Giants Danyal?
DeleteYESsir i did.
DeleteJust FYI Steelers at Bills on Sunday, December 13th will be Mike Tirico, Cris Callinsworth and Michelle Tafoya AL mentioned last night's he's off again
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers Cowboys game has been flexed out of Sunday Night Football for week 15, The Giants Browns game replaces it, what a great day in the NFL seeing the Dallas Cowboys flexed out of SNF.
ReplyDeleteNow it’s telling me on the Steelers website Kathryn Tappen’s sideline for Steelers at Bills not Michelle as I mentioned before
ReplyDeleteKathryn Tappen will replace Michele Tafoya as sideline reporter for Steelers-Bills on Sunday
ReplyDeleteAl Michaels, Cris Collinsworth and Michelle Tayfoya the regular crew will return for Browns at Giants I heard last night
ReplyDeleteAl Michaels will be off again for Week 16 Titans-Packers. This will be the 3rd time that the Packers have a Sunday Night game that he doesn't call.
ReplyDeleteChange of plans: With Al Michaels not yet cleared via COVID protocols, Mike Tirico will call Sunday's Browns/Giants game instead.
ReplyDeleteMy guess for Sunday Night Football next week would probably be either Cardinals-Rams or Packers-Bears.
ReplyDeleteWashington Football Team/Philadelphia Eagles is the Sunday Night Football game for Week 17, Al Michaels just announced.
ReplyDeleteNBC Wild Card Round
ReplyDeleteSat. 8:15: NFC#5 Buccaneers @ #4 NFC East Winner (Tirico)
Sun. 8:15: AFC#6 Browns @ #3 Steelers (Michaels)
Steelers vs Browns wild Card Sunday, January 10th at 8:15PM just announced
ReplyDeleteAnd to add to what I just mentioned Saturday 1-9 at 8:15P.M Buccaneers at WFT or New York Giants also Wild Card
ReplyDeleteAlso for announcers Al just announced Wild Card Weekend Saturday, January 9th Mike Tirico, Tony Dungy and Kathryn Tappen and Steelers Browns will be Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth and Michelle Tayfoya

ReplyDeleteThe game in Buffalo is on Saturday
