    1. I would be very surprised if Jim Nantz calls a game in Week 10. The Masters takes place during from November 12 up through that Sunday (November 15) so I would imagine that is what Jim Nantz would be calling instead.

      Delete
    2. I agree with that assessment. I figure CBS would like to get their number 4 team out there, too. I wonder if we maybe end up getting crews 2 through 4 that week but Romo pairs up with Eagle and Davis. Having the three of them in a booth together would be pretty thrilling, I must admit.

    1. It has something to do with the Masters or some golf event. CBS will televise it that day and anticipate it going later than what would allow them to show the early games.

  19. I think it is interesting with Harlan and Gumbel switching places. Harlan will officially be in the top 3 for the first time since 2005. He is, in my mind, CBS' best football pbp guy hands down. It pains me a little bit that he did not move up with Rich Gannon, but the two did have a great run together for 3 years from 2006-08 and in the last six years. Personally I have not found any appeal to Trent Green. Admittedly I have not heard him call many games, but from what I have heard from him I find him to be very bland and straight up boring; I have found his analysis to be very generic and that makes me question why he would be their number 3 analyst and question CBS' sanity when he was being considered to move up to the number two spot. Gannon worked super well with Harlan, provided excellent analysis, and what I loved is that he always had a good eye for key blocks on a play for offense. I do think Gumbel is one of the best pbp guys in the sport (I am upset CBS switched him out from being their number 1 guy after 2003) but he is in his 70s; his capability of calling a game is not what it once was. What are other people's thoughts on the move?

    1. I figure CBS will treat it like any other singlegeader week: the whole country will see one game. There has never been such an occurance in recent memory but over the last handful of years there have been instances of Fox just showing noon games so their MLB coverage can be on display. I do not see any reason at this point why only certain markets should get games. I think the Masters should already be wrapped up by then.

  33. So glad to see CBS is using their same scoreboard that they have been using since Super Bowl 50/the 2016 season. I do not like how these networks switch up their scoreboards too much; if it's a good one, just use it for six or seven years. Good for CBS on this one.

  38. CBS should consider flexing out Giants at Cowboys week 5. Giants could beat the 49ers next week who are depleted. They could enter that game winless but this game has blowout potential. Either Vegas KC or Buffalo Tennessee would be a great replacement but probably not going to happen since the Cowgirls are the ratings darlings and have to be in the national games as much as possible.

  39. Now that Saquon Barkley is officially out for the season with a torn ACL for the NY Giants, I really think the NFL should flex out in week 5 Giants at Cowboys in the 325/425 slot and replace it with Bills at the Tennessee Titans who are both 2-0 as we speak. Giants are going to struggle now without Saquon Barkley but the NFL will do everything in its power to keep the Cowboys in every national game they can because they are the ratings darlings.

  49. The NFL really needs to step up and flex out Giants vs Cowboys week 5 in the 425 slot on CBS. I am sorry but no one wants to see the embarrassing Giants on national TV get embarrassed by the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls deserve less national games and hopefully the NFL kicks them out of this spot. Giants are very likely going to lose to an angry LA Rams team next week and go into week 5 winless. I say Bills at Titans or Chiefs at Raiders would be a great replacement. Please please NFL flex this game out.

    1. CBS' best and most distributed game was Pit-Ten. Their late window was basically split with NE-SF and KC-Den (with a few folks seeing the Jags and LAC going at it). Up until the mid-2000s, it was far from rare for the networks with afternoon games to have their number one crew call a noon game even if they had the double-header (I figure that this was because flexing games did not start until 2006 and so if a network had their best game at noon they were stuck with it there). Now it seems you never see that. The only times in recent memory I recall with a number one crew calling a noon game was 2016 week 16 Vikings-Packers at noon while most of the country saw with either TB-NO (I think it was NO) or Ari-Sea and a week 17 game on CBS (I think in 2017) featuring NYJ-NE dominating the early window while multiple regional games were showcases later in the doubleheader.

  140. CBS' Week 12 schedule is rather loaded: all the early games feature a team in the thick of things for the AFC playoffs. The Raiders (vs Atl), Bills (vs LAC), Browns (vs Jac), and Dolphins (vs NYJ) all are real playoff contenders. And the Titans and Colts matchup has huge implications for both teams. Of course, the Chiefs-Bucs game in the late game window features two teams that are both arguably heavy-weights.

  141. * Week 13 - Sunday, December 6th - NFL on CBS Doubleheader (flex week) Take Two
    1:00 PM, ET
. Colts vs. Texans: Greg Gumbel, Rich Gannon & Amanda Balionis
. Bengals vs. Dolphins: Tom McCarthy & Jay Feely
. Jaguars vs. Vikings: Andrew Catalon, James Lofton & A.J. Ross
. Raiders vs. Jets: Spero Dedes & Adam Archuleta
. Browns vs. Titans (Primary): Ian Eagle, Charles Davis & Evan Washburn

    4:25 PM, ET
. Eagles vs. Packers (Primary): Jim Nantz, Tony Romo & Tracy Wolfson [confirmed & flex protected]
. Patriots vs. Chargers: Kevin Harlan, Trent Green & Melanie Collins
I put Eagle/Davis on CLE/TEN cuz these teams are battling for a playoff spot.
I put Harlan/Green on NE/LAC cuz of the two teams' media market sizes.
I put Gumbel/Gannon on IND/HOU cuz of the Colts 7-3 record plus the Texans are starting to play better football since firing Bill O' Brien.
I put Catalon/Lofton on JAX/MIN cuz they've called a lot of Jaguars game this season.
I put Dedes/Archuleta on LV/NYJ cuz Dedes is from the New Jersey area.
I put McCarthy/Feely on CIN/MIA cuz I believe this is the weakest game on the NFL on CBS slate.
