With May well underway by this point, Fox Sports’ Major League Baseball regular season coverage for 2026 continues this week (Saturday, May 16) with a Saturday doubleheader on Fox and FS1. There are two game windows with FS1 airing a national game at 4:00 PM ET, followed by Fox’s regional coverage at 7:00 PM ET.
We should mention that this weekend is “Rivalry Weekend,” presented by Booking.com, highlighting MLB’s budding and longstanding rivalries, and Fox will showcase a few of those rivalries to a national audience.
Two-time MLB All-Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. and the New York Yankees (26-16) are set to play their New York City MLB rival, Marcus Semien and the New York Mets (15-25), in the annual “Subway Series” on Saturday, May 16 at 7:15 PM ET on Fox, highlighting Fox Sports’ Major League Baseball three-game lineup for this week.
Orioles vs. Nationals — Saturday, 4:00 PM ET on FS1:
FS1 breaks the seal on Saturday’s lineup of games with a late afternoon presentation on Saturday, May 16, beginning at 4:00 PM ET.
Two Major League Baseball squads that are separated by a mere 40 miles get together on Saturday afternoon as Blaze Alexander and the Baltimore Orioles (19-23) make the quick trip down south to Nationals Park in Washington, DC, to square off against James Wood and the Washington Nationals (19-22) on Saturday, May 16, at 4:00 PM ET on FS1.
These teams are entering head-to-head competition for the first time in 2026. Washington dominated last year’s season series, going 5-1 vs. the Orioles, including an April series win at Nationals Park (the site of this Saturday’s matchup). Washington is currently tied for second in the NL East (alongside the Phillies and Marlins). The Orioles are in the midst of a dreadful 4-6 stretch, which featured a weekend series win over the Athletics. Things are not going well in Baltimore, as the Orioles are already nine games behind the Rays for first place in the American League East. We will see our fair share of young talent in this game, including Baltimore’s Gunnar Henderson and Blaze Alexander, plus Washington’s James Wood and CJ Abrams.
“Baseball Night in America”: Yankees vs. Mets or Padres vs. Mariners — Saturday, 7:00 PM ET on Fox:
“Baseball Night in America”, Fox Sports’ signature weekly MLB primetime series, returns to the airwaves of the Fox broadcast network on Saturday, May 16, at 7:00 PM ET, with regional coverage of a pair of primetime MLB contests. Coming up this week, the Yankees will go up against the Mets in the “Subway Series,” or the Padres tussle with the Mariners out in the Pacific Northwest. Check the bottom of this article or your local listings for additional information about which game Fox will be sending your way come Saturday.
Longtime crosstown rivals renew their rivalry as Austin Wells and the New York Yankees (26-16) play Juan Soto and the New York Mets (15-25) as part of the annual Yankees-Mets “Subway Series” on Saturday, May 16 at 7:00 PM ET on Fox.
The New York clubs will play a series against each other for the first time this year. Last season, the teams split their six head-to-head regular-season meetings. Of course, Yankees-Mets is the featured matchup of this weekend’s “Rivalry Weekend” slate. Despite both teams moving in different directions, there is always hope for a thrilling, captivating game. The Yankees (26-16) are two games behind the Rays for the top spot in the AL East, while the Mets (15-25) look to escape the basement of the NL East. Watch out for Yankees RF Aaron Judge and Yankees 1B Ben Rice alongside Mets DH Juan Soto. Judge is tied for the MLB lead with 16 home runs.
Xander Bogaerts and the San Diego Padres (24-16) travel to T-Mobile Park to compete against Cal Raleigh and the reigning AL West champion Seattle Mariners (20-22) on Saturday, May 16, at 7:00 PM ET (4:00 PM PT) on Fox.
This is the second of two series between these squads this year, with San Diego sweeping Seattle in a three-game series earlier this season. A total reversal of how last year’s Mariners-Padres season series went, with the Mariners winning five of the six matchups. An important storyline here is the struggle of several stars associated with this matchup — including Mariners C Cal Raleigh, Padres 3B Manny Machado & Padres RF Fernando Tatís Jr. — with each player performing uncharacteristically poorly. WHEN WILL THEY HEAT UP? Maybe this weekend’s game could be a potential starting point. If San Diego and Seattle have intentions of playing postseason baseball in 2026, they need these gentlemen to snap out of it and get going! However, Mariners CF Julio Rodríguez is getting his home run power charged up, with Julio blasting his seventh HR of the season in Monday’s 3-1 win over the Astros.
