* FS1 returns for a 10th straight season of covering Major League Baseball

FOX Sports announced their 2023 Major League Baseball regular season schedule on Thursday. That means we now have the schedule for the MLB on FS1.

FOX Sports 1 (FS1) is ready to swing the fences as that station prepares for their 10th season of carrying Major League Baseball games alongside the FOX broadcast network.

FS1's schedule will start on Saturday, April 1 at 9:30 PM (ET) as the Cleveland Guardians visit the Seattle Mariners. FS1 will mainly carry games on Saturday afternoons, with select weekday broadcasts mixed in.

As a side note, all commentators assigned to FS1 broadcasts are calling games remotely. This format has existed since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with one exception in 2021.

An FS1 doubleheader this Saturday (and knowing FOX, you will likely see a crew doubling up and calling both games remotely, which is pretty STUPID considering the fact that COVID is BASICALLY over).

    Items of Note:
    - No "MLB on FOX" games this Saturday due to Women's World Cup action. Instead, FS1 will air two games: Toronto at Boston, 4 p.m. ET and LA Dodgers at San Diego, 8:30 p.m. ET

    - Trying something new for the "lead" of my weekly MLB summaries.

    1. @Mark T. Thank you, Mark. And of course, Kevin Kugler and Eric Karros DOUBLED up on a day that FS1 had TWO games. Very stupid. If I was running FOX, I would have TWO separate crews calling doubleheaders (you can still call games remotely, but come on?!). Is that TOO MUCH TO ASK?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @jtcramerdog@gmail.com Man, that is one of the main reasons. FS1 will be airing several MLB games during the month of September (for example, BAL/LAA on Labor Day and SEA/TB on Saturday, September 9 at 4 p.m. ET). Remember, FS1 aired THREE (!) MLB games last week, so maybe FS1 wanted a little mini-vacation from baseball before the stretch run/postseason begin.

. NYY/HOU (Sunday, ESPN) - Karl Ravech, Eduardo PĆ©rez, David Cone, Buster Olney (confirmed)

  55. Will FOX broadcast any ALDS games this year, or will FS1 do them all?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Mark T. I think FOX will air select ALDS games, but FS1 will air the majority of the matchups. Last season, FOX aired two Phillies/Braves NLDS games.

    2. And I remember the second Phillies-Braves game went into a delay, which interfered with FOX'S TV schedule.

  57. The week ahead in terms of MLB national TV broadcasts, as we are now officially into the postseason push:

. BAL/LAA (Monday, FS1) - Alex Faust, Tom Verducci (confirmed)
    . SF/CHC (Tuesday, TBS)
    . SEA/TB (Saturday, FS1)
. COL/SF (Sunday, ESPN) - Karl Ravech, Eduardo PĆ©rez, David Cone, Buster Olney (confirmed)

Once again, a light MLB national television schedule this week due to FOX airing CFB all day Saturday, thus preventing from any MLB games at all.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Wonder who FS1 will pick to call tomorrow's game with most of the announcers calling the NFL and Benetti and Faust calling college football.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ken Rosenthal is calling the Mariners vs Rays game from St. Pete.

    Replies
    1. Along with Alex Faust and Tom Verducci (I thought Faust was doing CFB.....)

      Delete
    2. @Mark T. Yeah, Alex is still doing CFB tonight. Since Faust calls CFB games remotely from Los Angeles, he could pull off double duty since the MLB on FS1 still (unbelievably) does games remotely.

      Delete
    3. Hmm. Was Ken Rosenthal still doing games from on site?

    4. @Mark T. Mark, I'm so sorry. Rosenthal was on-site in Tampa. Faust & Verducci were remote.
