Highlights for the Week 14 edition of NFL on FOX: Field Pass (Sunday, December 8):
- As we enter Week 14, FOX's coverage of the countdown to the 2024-25 NFL Playoffs continues with a exciting Week 14 doubleheader on Sunday, December 8, including Falcons-Vikings (1:00 PM ET) and Bills-Rams during America's Game of the Week (4:25 PM ET).
- The final month of the 2024 regular season starts with several contenders looking to make a statement as to why they deserve to be playing late-January football, including the Falcons, Vikings, Eagles, Bills, Rams & 49ers, among others.
- FOX sets up the entire football afternoon with two live hours of pregame coverage, featuring "FOX NFL Kickoff presented by Little Casears" at 11:00 AM ET followed by "FOX NFL Sunday presented by GMC" at 12:00 PM ET, as those respective studio programs prepare viewers for the forthcoming Week 14 doubleheader on FOX.
- Two teams currently in the NFC postseason mix get together here in Week 14 as Bijan Robinson and the NFC South leading Atlanta Falcons (6-6) visit Justin Jefferson and surging Minnesota Vikings (10-2) on Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 PM ET on FOX.
- America's Game of the Week hopes to have a storybook conclusion as Josh Allen and the dangerous Buffalo Bills (10-2) take on Jared Verse and the Los Angeles Rams (6-6) in a important game for both teams on Sunday, December 8 at 4:25 PM ET on FOX.
Hello there, everyone! With Thanksgiving now behind us, I just want to say that I hope your Thanksgiving was a pretty good one and everything that you wanted it to be. I am feeling very cheery, as the holiday season is well underway, and FOX is set to televise a Week 14 doubleheader this Sunday, December 8. In fact, FOX will host a doubleheader for four of the final five regular season weeks (an early heads up on that).
FOX will have five games on Sunday, with these matchups being split between two windows. In the early 1:00 PM ET doubleheader window, we have these games on tap: Panthers at Eagles, Falcons at Vikings and Saints at Giants. For America's Game of the Week at 4:25 PM ET, you have a two-game lineup of Bills at Rams and Bears at 49ers. Which doubleheader games will you have the pleasure of watching this Sunday and which announcer teams will supply you with game commentary? I invite you to continue on with the reading of this article for additional information and an answer to the question that I posed a mere moment ago.
Welcome to the Week 14 NFL on FOX: Field Pass! As you can see, I am formatting this week's edition a little bit differently than most other weeks (as an experiment). Please let me know your thoughts about this, and if I should convert all regionalization articles (CBS/FOX) to look like this in the ensuing weeks and seasons ahead.
In the Week 14 NFL on FOX: Field Pass, we will have individual sections talking about pregame, game action, and postgame. Plus, the commentator lineup and distribution is set to be disclosed as well. Thanks for the constant support that you give my blog and these articles in particular! Let's get started!
Pregame: FOX NFL Kickoff presented by Little Casears (11:00 AM ET):
FOX Sports will start their prolonged Week 14 doubleheader coverage at 11:00 AM ET on FOX with another edition of "FOX NFL Kickoff presented by Little Casears". Charissa Thompson serves as the host of this studio program originating from Los Angeles, joined on-set by a all-inclusive lineup of respected and gifted analysts, including Hall of Famer Charles Woodson, four-time Pro Bowler Michael Vick and three-time Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman. Furthermore, insider Peter Schrager joins the cast to give viewers the inside scoop about the NFL as teams begin preparing for their Sunday matchups. In addition, contributors Cooper Manning and Colin Cowherd will contribute segments throughout the course of the program.
FOX NFL Kickoff offers the first look at Sunday's Week 14 doubleheader coverage on FOX, including interviews with important NFL newsmakers, live reports from the game sites themselves, any breaking news that drops, and updates from the National Football League.
Pregame: FOX NFL Sunday presented by GMC (12:00 PM ET):
The two-hour Week 14 NFL on FOX pregame coverage marches ahead with the celebrated pregame show "FOX NFL Sunday presented by GMC" at 12:00 PM ET on FOX. If you are a true football fan, you understand that FOX NFL Sunday is the last show to hit the airwaves before live football commences shortly thereafter. Curt Menefee and Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw team up to co-host the program. Joining Menefee and Bradshaw at the main desk are three studio analysts and Hall of Famers: Michael Strahan, Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson. Longtime FOX Sports stalwart Jay Glazer joins the team as the "insider", furnishing football fans with the latest NFL news, injuries, and more as kickoff of the Sunday 1:00 PM ET slate of games approaches.
FOX NFL Sunday also places emphasis on interviews with important NFL newsmakers, predictions from the studio cast, and healthy discussion about the current state of the National Football League.
1:00 PM ET games (Doubleheader Game #1):
At 1:00 PM ET, FOX Sports heads out to the various NFL stadiums for the first game of the Week 14 doubleheader. To kick off the football day, FOX will televise three matchups that will be distributed across the country including Panthers at Eagles (Primary; 45% of Markets), Falcons at Vikings (44% of Markets) & Saints at Giants (11% of Markets). As a way to conduct my job as a "sports blog journalist", I will furnish game previews for each of the three early game doubleheader games on FOX.
DeVonta Smith and the Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) are feeling confident as they take a eight-game winning streak into their matchup with Bryce Young and the substandard Carolina Panthers (3-9) on Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 PM ET on FOX. The Panthers have split their previous four matchups as Week 14 arrives, including last week's tough 26-23 overtime loss to the Buccaneers. Panthers QB Bryce Young has passed for at least one touchdown in each of Carolina's last four games. If the Panthers lose on Sunday to Philadelphia coupled with an Atlanta victory over Minnesota, the Panthers will be eliminated from postseason contention. Yeah, Carolina's playoff hopes are basically dashed barring a miracle. Eagles RB Saquon Barkley and the Eagles are soaring high as the team has compiled eight consecutive wins entering Week 14 play. In fact, Barkley has an NFL-best 1,499 rushing yards through Week 12 games. Last week, the Eagles beat the Ravens 24-19 down in Baltimore to extend the winning streak to eight. The Eagles are looking to keep pace with the Detroit Lions for the top spot in the NFC, as Philadelphia enjoys a comfortable lead in the NFC East (as the Commanders sit in second place with a 8-5 record). Eagles QB Jalen Hurts can become the first quarterback since 1950 to produce three nine-game winning streaks or move over the course of the first five years of a player's career. 🎙 FOX will serve as the television home for Panthers-Eagles on Sunday, as Adam Amin provides the play-by-play commentary alongside former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez (analyst) and reporter Kristina Pink.
Two NFC contenders collide in Week 14 as Bijan Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons (6-6) hit the road for this contest against Justin Jefferson and the surging Minnesota Vikings (10-2) on Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 PM ET on FOX. Atlanta is looking to make the postseason for the first time since 2017 (they have missed the playoffs for six straight seasons). Currently, the Falcons are looking to finally snap out of a poorly timed three-game skid, which includes last week's 17-13 loss to the Chargers (where Kirk Cousins tossed four interceptions in that game). Despite Atlanta's recent bad luck with their game results, the Falcons came into Week 14 tied for first place in the NFC South (with Tampa Bay, who will also be playing at the 1:00 PM ET window vs. the Raiders on CBS). The Falcons open up a two-game December road trip with this game (they will visit the Raiders next Monday in Las Vegas). Falcons QB Kirk Cousins faces the Vikings for the first time since his departure from that franchise following the 2023 season. Falcons S Jessie Bates III has a pass defensed in 4 of his previous five outings. The Vikings try to push their current five-game winning streak to six with a victory here against the hungry and desperate Falcons. Last week, the Vikings came from behind to sink the Cardinals 23-22 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Vikings continue their three-game homestand with this matchup. The Vikings are looking to keep pace in an exciting NFC North race, as the top three squads in that division appear to be postseason bound (Lions 12-1, Packers 9-4, and of course, Vikings, 10-2. Vikings RB Aaron Jones received a touchdown pass for the 20th time in his career last week vs. the Cardinals. Vikings S Camryn Bynum logged a season-high 10 tackles last week vs. Arizona. The Falcons & Vikings are a couple of NFC teams that missed postseason in 2023 to arrive at Week 14 with a winning record (at least, .500) - alongside the Cardinals (6-6), Seahawks (7-5) and Commanders (8-5). 🎙 Sunday's Falcons-Vikings showdown will be televised nationally on FOX, with play-by-play commentator Joe Davis, analyst and three-time Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen and reporter Pam Oliver on the call.
Tyrann Mathieu and the New Orleans Saints (4-8) continue their attempt to salvaging an awful season against Kayvon Thibodeaux and the terrible New York Giants (2-10) on Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 PM ET on FOX. Unfortunately, it seems like that the Saints' only realistic path towards the postseason this year is as a division champion (since they trail Washington by 3 1/2 games for the final NFC Wild Card spot). Basically, the Saints MUST win this game to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Giants, meanwhile, have been eliminated from the playoffs and playing for just pride at this stage. 🎙 Sunday's Saints-Giants game will be seen on FOX, as Kevin Kugler (play-by-play), three-time Super Bowl champion Daryl "Moose" Johnston (analyst) and Laura Okmin (reporter) handle commentary duties.
4:25 PM ET games (America's Game of the Week):
The Week 14 NFL on FOX doubleheader continues at 4:25 PM ET with America's Game of the Week. FOX plans to regionalize the coverage of two games to markets across the country, including: Bills at Rams (Primary; 86% of Markets) and Bears at 49ers (14% of Markets). Additional information will be made available regarding these late afternoon matchups in just a moment.
Damar Hamlin and the five-time defending AFC East champions Buffalo Bills (10-2) travel cross country to engage in a interconference matchup with Cooper Kupp and the Los Angeles Rams (6-6) on Sunday, December 8 at 4:25 PM ET on FOX. Last week, the Bills wrapped up their fifth straight AFC East title and sixth straight 10-win season with a 35-10 dismantling of the defending NFC champions 49ers. During that San Francisco game last Sunday night, Bills QB Josh Allen became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for, catch and run for a touchdown in the same game. However, Buffalo needs to remain focused as they continue their hot pursuit of the AFC's #1 seed (currently held by Kansas City; Buffalo owns the head-to-head tiebreaker with Kansas City). The Rams have bounced back nicely following another dispiriting beginning. Following a hellacious 1-4 start, the team has posted wins in five of their previous seven games, including a 21-14 win over the Saints last week. The Rams' in-season turnaround as them in the thick of the things for the lead in the NFC West (trailing Seattle by one game for the division lead heading into Week 14). Bills head coach Sean McDermott has 83 regular season wins since McDermott took over the Bills' head coaching job in 2017, tied with the late Pro Football Hall of Famer John Madden for the third-most by a head coach in his first eight games all-time, only trailing George Seifert (98) and Mike Holmgren (84). Rams RB Kyren Williams picked up 113 scrimmage yards & scored his 10th rushing touchdown last week vs. the Saints. 🎙 FOX's lead NFL team of play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, analyst and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, reporter Erin Andrews and reporter Tom Rinaldi will be on-site at SoFi Stadium for FOX's game broadcast of Bills vs. Rams on Sunday.
Two floundering clubs try to emerge from the darkness and get a desperately needed victory as Caleb Williams (rookie) and the tumbling Chicago Bears (4-8) visit Fred Warner and somewhat disappointing defending NFC champions San Francisco 49ers (5-7) on Sunday, December 8 at 4:25 PM ET on FOX. The Chicago Bears are going through a very difficult stretch right now, as the squad has lost SIX consecutive weeks entering this Sunday's game vs. the 49ers. Last week, the Bears completely botched the ending to their Thanksgiving Day game (a 23-20 loss to the Lions) by not calling a timeout to set up a potential game-tying field goal, which cost former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus his job. Replacing Matt Eberflus as the interim head coach is Bears offensive coordinator Thomas Brown. At 4-8, Chicago is barely hanging on by a thread in the NFC playoff picture as another loss or two will definitely knock the Bears OUT of postseason contention. On the plus side, the Bears have a +10 turnover margin, which ranks tied for the fourth best in the NFL. Bears DB Kyler Gordon looks to add a pass deflection for the third straight game. The 49ers have been snakebitten by too many injuries as the team is on a frustrating three-game losing streak, including two straight blowout losses to the Packers in Week 12 (38-10) & Bills in Week 13 (35-10). To be honest, San Francisco has a serious need for a victory to recover some hope and promise as they embark on the last month of a maddening regular season following their NFC Championship and Super Bowl appearance in 2023. 49ers QB Brock Purdy has 30 touchdowns in 16 career home games at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. 49ers DL Leonard Floyd is facing his former team that drafted him back in 2016 (Georgia). 🎙 Sunday's Bears-49ers matchup will be televised on FOX. Kenny Albert calls the play-by-play with analyst and Super Bowl champion Jonathan Vilma. Megan Olivi reports from the sidelines.
Postgame: The OT presented by Ford (7:30 PM ET):
FOX wraps up the Week 14 doubleheader slate with "The OT" postgame show at 7:30 PM ET, once America's Game of the Week finishes up. Co-hosts Curt Menefee and Terry Bradshaw alongside analysts and Hall of Famers Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy Johnson, with insider Jay Glazer, serve as the studio team for the half-hour postgame show that features highlights of the games, interviews with key players involved in these contests, and thoughts from the guys themselves.
