- The NHL on ABC returns for the fourth straight season in 2024-25, featuring 19 regular season games and two games from the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montréal in February.
- ABC Hockey Saturday returns on Saturday, January 4 when the New York Rangers hit the road to take on the Washington Capitals at 12:00 PM (ET) on ABC and ESPN+.
- Coverage of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs on ABC to begin in April 2025.
Earlier this week (Thursday, August 29), ESPN and the Walt Disney Company (TWDC) revealed the complete 2024-25 NHL regular season schedule, with 100 exclusive games across ESPN (29 games), ESPN2 (2 games), ESPN+ (50 games), ABC (19 games) and Hulu (50 games, a simulcast of ESPN+). This marks ABC and ESPN's fourth season of NHL rights since they re-entered the NHL national television broadcasting picture back in 2021.
In addition to this, ESPN and TWDC will present the NHL Opening Night tripleheader (Tuesday, October 8), 4 Nations Face-Off from Montréal and Boston (February), 2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series (Saturday, March 1 - Red Wings vs. Blue Jackets from Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio), and will hit the ice for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs beginning in mid-April before ending the season with a Conference Final presentation in May.
ESPN's weekly NHL studio program, The Point, makes its season premiere on Tuesday, October 8 (Opening Night) at 4:00 PM (ET) on ESPN, ahead of ESPN's season-opening tripleheader and will be presented weekly this fall on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
ABC Hockey Saturday:
ABC Hockey Saturday makes its season debut on Saturday, January 4 when the Rangers collide with the Capitals at 12:00 PM (ET). This is the fourth season of ABC Hockey Saturday, ABC's exclusive presentation of NHL hockey on Saturday afternoons.
The series returns the following week, Saturday, January 11, when Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins take on Matthew Tkachuk and the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers at 1:00 PM (ET) on ABC and ESPN+.
Generally, ABC Hockey Saturday will be on ABC on most Saturdays from January 4 through April 12 (with the exceptions of January 18 & 25).
4 Nations Face-Off (February 2025):
In place of a traditional NHL All-Star Weekend this year, the league's regular-season calendar will pause when the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off drops the puck February 12-20. Four teams of NHL players from the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden will compete in a round-robin tournament consisting of seven total games played over a nine-day period in Montréal at the Bell Centre and in Boston at the TD Garden. The event will mark the first best-on-best hockey tournament since the 2016 World Cup Hockey in Toronto.
For this special event, ABC and ESPN will present live coverage for three games in Montréal and the championship game from Boston on Thursday, February 20 (8:00 PM ET, ESPN).

- Saturday, February 1: ABC Hockey Saturday doubleheader featuring Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks clashing with the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers at 1:00 PM ET, followed by the New York Rangers vs. the Boston Bruins at 3:30 PM (ET) on ABC and ESPN+.
- Saturday, March 1: The Boston Bruins and Brad Marchand visit the Pittsburgh Penguins in a ABC Hockey Saturday presentation at 3:00 PM (ET) on ABC and ESPN+, leading into ESPN's Stadium Series coverage later that night.
- Saturday, March 22 & Saturday, March 29: ABC Hockey Saturday makes a two-week shift to primetime with the Red Wings vs. Golden Knights on Saturday, March 22 at 8:00 PM (ET), followed by a Original Six matchup the following weekend as the Bruins come into Detroit to face off against the Red Wings on Saturday, March 29 at 8:00 PM (ET).
- Saturday, April 12: A Metropolitan Division finale to finish out the regular season ABC Hockey Saturday schedule, featuring Islanders vs. Flyers and Rangers vs. Hurricanes (ABC, ESPN+).
'Ovechkin Watch':
Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals enters the 2024-25 season with 853 career goals - 42 goals away from setting the new NHL all-time leading scoring record (currently held by "The Great One", Wayne Gretzky, 894 goals). The Capitals will make four exclusive appearances during the final stretch of the season.
