Hi, everyone! Time for us to preview the 2026 Fall Classic, which will feature the Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays, two teams that have NEVER won a World Series before. This is the first World Series since 1980 (Philadelphia vs. Kansas City) to pair two teams seeking their first championship in franchise history.
The series will begin on Friday, October 23, when Junior Caminero and the Tampa Bay Rays visit Christian Yelich and the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series opener at 8:00 PM ET (7:00 PM CT local) on Fox and Fox One. Game 1 will feature the commentary team of Joe Davis (play-by-play), John Smoltz (analyst), Ken Rosenthal (reporter) & Tom Verducci (reporter). In fact, Davis, Smoltz, Rosenthal & Verducci will be calling the whole series from beginning to finish.
Additionally, Fox will have its studio crew provide opinions and insights before and after each World Series game. Studio coverage for the World Series will be led by veteran host and play-by-play commentator Kevin Burkhardt. Burkhardt’s on-air partners include 2009 World Series champion Alex Rodriguez and Hall of Famers Derek Jeter and David Ortiz. Pregame coverage begins at 7:00 PM ET on Fox, while postgame coverage is available immediately after the games on Fox and later on FS1.
The Rays finished the 2026 regular season with 97 wins, the most in the American League. The Rays swept the Yankees in the American League Division Series. They beat the Guardians in a six-game American League Championship Series to win the franchise’s third American League pennant. Tampa Bay is 0-2 in its two prior World Series trips, losing to the Phillies in five games in 2008 and then dropping the 2020 World Series to the Dodgers in six games.
The Brewers notched 103 wins, a new franchise high, during the 2026 regular season. The Brewers dispatched the Padres in four games during the National League Division Series, then swept the reigning two-time World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. The Brewers fell in the 1982 World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games, their only prior appearance in the World Series before this season’s appearance in the Fall Classic.
