- Cardinals, Diamondbacks Combat in the Desert: Two National League clubs collide under the primetime spotlight as Victor Scott II leads the St. Louis Cardinals against Ketel Marte and the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, July 19 at 7:00 PM ET (4:00 PM MST local in Phoenix).
Hi, everybody! I hope you enjoyed Tuesday's All-Star Game in Atlanta! Also, this mini-break in the MLB schedule was very helpful for me, as I was able to take a few days off before publishing the next MLB on Fox: On Deck article! Anyway, it is great to be back writing articles about baseball ⚾.
With the All-Star week now behind us, the second half of the 2025 MLB Season becomes our primary focus as teams continue their drive towards a postseason berth.
Fox returns to their traditional Saturday coverage this week, Saturday, July 19, with another exciting edition of "Baseball Night in America", beginning at 7:00 PM ET. This week, Fox is slated to regionalize two game matchups to stations across the country: Trevor Story and the sizzling Boston Red Sox engage in a duel with Michael Busch and the Chicago Cubs, or Willson Contreras and the St. Louis Cardinals travel to Arizona for a matchup against Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Which game will your local Fox station be broadcasting, and who's set to commentate the action? Continue reading this article to find out the answers.
A pair of 2025 MLB Postseason contenders oppose each other in Chicago as Roman Anthony and scorching hot Boston Red Sox, winners of ten straight games, go up against Pete Crow-Armstrong and the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs on Saturday, July 19 at 7:00 PM ET on Fox. Saturday's matchup is the middle game of a three-game weekend series between two franchises with a rich history. For the Red Sox, they look to extend a stretch of terrific play on the field. Heading into the All-Star Break, Boston rattled off TEN straight wins, representing a remarkable turnaround that the club is experiencing right now. Due to Boston's recent play, they are only three games behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays for the American League East lead. As for the Cubs, Craig Counsell's ball club has its eyes transfixed on a potential run in October as the second half of the season starts. Entering this week's All-Star Break, the Cubs have a record of 57-39, good enough for first place in the National League Central. However, Jackson Chourio and the Milwaukee Brewers check in one game behind the Cubs, at 56-40. This means that the Cubs cannot take their foot off the gas pedal in their pursuit of staying in first place in the division. 🎤 Play-by-play announcer Adam Amin, analyst and 2005 World Series champion A.J. Pierzynski, fellow analyst and 2006 World Series champion Adam Wainwright and Emmy Award winning reporter Ken Rosenthal call Red Sox-Cubs live from Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois.
Brendan Donovan and the St. Louis Cardinals open up their second half of their regular season schedule on the road at Chase Field in Phoenix, where they will encounter Geraldo Perdomo and the Arizona Diamondbacks in National League action on Saturday, July 19 at 7:00 PM ET on Fox. Saturday's Cardinals-Diamondbacks game on Fox is the second game of a weekend set between St. Louis & Arizona. The D'Backs look for some redemption vs. the Cardinals, as Arizona was swept in a three-game series at Busch Stadium in St. Louis earlier this season. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol is a key reason why St. Louis is in contention in mid-July. Marmol's unique ability to focus on winning while developing the younger players on the Cardinals roster is very commendable, and he deserves a lot of credit for that. The Cards trail San Diego by 1.5 GB for the final NL Wild Card spot while 6.5 GB behind the Cubs for the top spot in the NL Central. Meanwhile, for Torey Lovullo's Diamondbacks, things have been bumpy thus far for a franchise that is just two years removed from a World Series appearance. At the midway point of the season, the Diamondbacks have a subpar record of 47-50, which is nowhere near the record Arizona probably wants. The Diamondbacks are fourth in the NL West standings, behind the Dodgers, Padres, and Giants. Additionally, Arizona is 5.5 GB behind San Diego for NL Wild Card #3. The Diamondbacks have plenty of work to do if they want to return to postseason play following a one-year absence. 🎤 TBD.
