  • The 2024 NFL on CBS season continues on Sunday, September 22 with five games during Week 3: Chargers vs. Steelers, Bears vs. Colts, Texans vs. Vikings, Dolphins vs. Seahawks & Panthers vs. Raiders. A regional afternoon for CBS as you will receive a game at either 1:00 PM (ET) or 4:00 PM (ET).
  • "The NFL Today" prepares viewers for the Week 3 Sunday afternoon slate on CBS, beginning at 12:00 PM (ET) with host James Brown, analyst Nate Burleson, analyst Bill Cowher, analyst Matt Ryan & insider Jonathan Jones reporting from New York City.
  • Multiple games on the Week 3 CBS slate featuring teams that are undefeated so far in this young season: Chargers (2-0) vs. Steelers (2-0) and Texans (2-0) vs. Vikings (2-0).
  • Current NFL rushing leader J.K. Dobbins and the undefeated Los Angeles Chargers (2-0) continue their two-game road trip out East versus T.J. Watt and the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) on Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. The winner of Chargers-Steelers improves to 3-0 and increases their chances of making the postseason.
  • De'Von Achane and the Miami Dolphins (1-1) travel to Seattle to play DK Metcalf and the Seattle Seahawks (2-0) on Sunday, September 22 at 4:05 PM (ET) on CBS. The Dolphins start life without their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, who is now injured reserve following a concussion last week against the Bills.

The 2024 NFL regular season continues this week, and CBS Sports plans to show regional coverage this Sunday, September 22, during Week 3 of the regular season. This marks the second time that CBS is regionalizing games regionally, following Week's 1 regional coverage. Viewers on CBS will receive one of five games this week (check the bottom of this article or your local listings): Chargers at Steelers (1:00 PM ET), Texans at Vikings (1:00 PM ET), Bears at Colts (1:00 PM ET), Dolphins at Seahawks (4:05 PM ET) &  Panthers at Raiders (4:05 PM ET). Read on for more information about the Week #3 edition of the NFL on CBS.

The Week 3 NFL on CBS schedule begins at 12:00 PM (ET), with another edition of the iconic pregame show "The NFL Today". Live from New York, James Brown anchors the one-hour program, working alongside analysts Nate Burleson, Matt Ryan Bill Cowher. Insider Jonathan Jones joins the show to provide the latest news and notes from across the league, as the 1:00 PM (ET) kickoffs approach.

The regional coverage then begins at 1:00 PM (ET), for viewers slated to receive a 1:00 PM (ET) kickoff. CBS plans to have three games in that window to be regionally televised - Chargers at Steelers, Texans at Vikings, Bears at Colts. I will discuss these games in greater detail in the paragraphs to follow.

The Los Angeles Chargers (2-0), led by the NFL's current rushing leader J.K. Dobbins (266 yards), look to continue their early season run of form when they visit Alex Highsmith and the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) on Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. The Chargers are coming off a dominant 26-3 win over the Panthers, fueled by their running game with J.K. Dobbins, two touchdowns from wide receiver Quentin Johnston & good defensive play. The Steelers haven't wowed anybody in particular so far, but their defense is a major storyline. In two games, the Steelers' defense has only allowed one offensive/defensive touchdown. The Steelers squeezed out a tight win in Denver last week 13-6. 🎙 This week's Chargers-Steelers game on CBS features the top NFL on CBS commentary team - Jim Nantz, Tony Romo & Tracy Wolfson - on the call.

Following a huge victory defending the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers last week, Sam Darnold, Camryn Bynum and the Minnesota Vikings (2-0) have another solid team to play against when second year quarterback C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans (2-0) visit U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis for an important Week 3 matchup on Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. Like I mentioned earlier, this is one of the two CBS matchups this week featuring undefeated clubs - this one & Chargers-Steelers. The Texans kept their undefeated status intact when a primetime win over the Bears last Sunday, 19-13. Stroud went 23-for-36 for 260 yards and threw one touchdown pass to WR Nico Collins during the Bears game. 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Ian Eagle calls the action with analyst Charles Davis and reporter Evan Washburn.

Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, Tremaine Edmunds and the Chicago Bears (1-1) hit the road for the second straight weekend in a row when they go to Indianapolis for a early season clash with Jonathan Taylor and the winless Indianapolis Colts (0-2) on Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 PM (ET) on CBS. The Bears play an AFC South opponent for the third straight week, following two previous games vs. the Titans & Texans. The Colts return home to Lucas Oil Stadium following a close 16-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers last week. For Indianapolis, this feels like a must-win game for them, considering the fact that they are already two games behind the Texans for first place in the division. 🎙 Andrew Catalon (play-by-play), Super Bowl LII champion Jason McCourty (analyst), three-time Pro Bowler and former NFL running back Tiki Barber (analyst) & reporter AJ Ross handle the game broadcast nationally on CBS.

Then, later on, at 4:05 PM (ET), CBS will air a late afternoon regional game for viewers scheduled to only get a 4:05 PM (ET) CBS contest on Sunday. CBS will have two games during this timeslot - Dolphins at Seahawks & Panthers at Raiders. Further coverage on these two matchups will be provided in the paragraphs following this one.

Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and the Miami Dolphins (1-1) are now set to play their first away contest of this 2024 season, flying to Seattle, Washington, to compete against Geno Smith, DK Metcalf and the undefeated Seattle Seahawks (2-0) on Sunday, September 22 at 4:05 PM (ET) on CBS. The Dolphins look for their first victory over the Seahawks since 2012. In addition, the Dolphins look to reset themselves following the concussion of their quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, last week vs. the Bills. Meanwhile, the Seahawks look pretty darn good to begin the 2024 campaign, their first one led by new head coach Mike Macdonald (replacing Pete Carroll, who left the HC position following the 2023 season). Last week, the Seahawks defeated the Patriots, 23-20 in overtime to move to 2-0. DK Metcalf had 10 receptions for 129 yards, including a touchdown. Leonard Williams had a ridiculous eight quarterback hits. 🎙 The Dolphins-Seahawks game will be televised by CBS, with Kevin Harlan, Trent Green & Melanie Collins on the call.

The Carolina Panthers (0-2), coming off losses to the Panthers and Chargers, made a significant quarterback change this week as the veteran quarterback Andy Dalton was promoted to the starting job, replacing fellow QB Bryce Young, who is being benched. Dalton is ironically 3-0 versus the Panthers' Week 3 opponent, the Las Vegas Raiders, as the Panthers travel to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to tangle with the Raiders (1-1) on Sunday, September 22 at 4:05 PM (ET) on CBS. The Raiders play their 2024 home opener following two straight road games - a loss to the Chargers in Week 1, and a win over the Ravens in Week 2. 🎤 Spero Dedes (play-by-play), Adam Archuleta (analyst) & Aditi Kinkhabwala (reporter) are on the late afternoon CBS call from Las Vegas.
