- 2024 WNBA Playoffs presented by Google continue this Sunday, September 29, with Game 1 of the Semifinals between the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces (ABC, 3:00 PM ET). This is a re-match of the 2023 WNBA Finals. That game will be followed by Game 1 of the Sun-Lynx Semifinal series later that night (ESPN, 8:30 PM ET).
- Both semifinal series (Liberty-Aces and Sun-Lynx) will be best-of-five, meaning that the team(s) that win three games in the series will be declared the winner and advance to the 2024 WNBA Finals.
- ESPN platforms (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, etc.) will provide exclusive coverage of the WNBA Semifinals.
Welcome back to the 2024 WNBA Playoffs presented by Google! The first round was relatively quick, with all four series ending in two-game sweeps. In the opening round, the rookie season of Caitlin Clark came to an end. Also, Diana Taurasi's 20th and potentially final WNBA season had a premature ending. Now, our focus turns towards the WNBA Semifinals, which will kick off this Sunday, September 29. Four teams are still alive in the hunt for a WNBA championship.
The New York Liberty and Connecticut Sun take a giant step forward towards their respective franchises' first WNBA championship. A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young and the Las Vegas Aces try to capture a third straight championship and Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx look to bring a WNBA title back to Minneapolis for the first time since 2017.
The 2024 WNBA Semifinals begin on Sunday, September 29 at 3:00 PM (ET) on ABC when Jackie Young and the two-time defending champion, #4 seed Las Vegas Aces, visit Sabrina Ionescu and the #1 seed New York Liberty in a re-match of the 2023 WNBA Finals presented by YouTube TV. During the regular season, the Liberty swept the season series vs. Las Vegas. And now, Las Vegas is looking to return the favor here in the playoffs. Both teams finished the regular season strong, going 11-4 in the 15 post-Olympic break games. 🎙 Ryan Ruocco calls the play-by-play action, with analyst and Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo and reporter Holly Rowe.
WNBA Countdown presented by Google, ESPN's official WNBA pregame show, previews Game 1 of the Aces-Liberty semifinals at 2:30 PM (ET) on ABC. SportsCenter anchor and WNBA host Elle Duncan anchors the program with former Tennessee guard Andraya Carter and former #1 WNBA overall pick Chiney Ogwumike.
Then on Sunday night, Semifinal coverage continues at 8:30 PM (ET) on ESPN as Brionna Jones and the #3 seed Connecticut Sun play Game 1 of the Semifinal series against Kayla McBride and the #2 seed Minnesota Lynx. Lynx forward Naphessa Collier WENT CRAZY during the first round vs. the Phoenix Mercury, scoring 70 points combined in the mini two-game sweep over Phoenix (38 in Game 1, 42 in Game 2). Keep an eye out on Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas, as she is known to dish the ball out and find her teammates. 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Pam Ward, analyst LaChina Robinson and reporter Brooke Weisbrod narrate the action from Minneapolis.
The studio team of Elle Duncan, Andraya Carter & Chiney Ogwumike return for their second show of the day with a half-hour WNBA Countdown presented by Google program at 8:00 PM (ET) on ESPN, leading into the Sun-Lynx Game 1 Semifinal series.
The 2024 WNBA Semifinals will then continue on Tuesday, October 1 with Game 2's and Friday, October 4 with Game 3's. If necessary, Game 4's will be on Sunday, October 6 and Game 5's will be on Tuesday, October 8.
