- Mookie Betts and the National League West leading Los Angeles Dodgers take their talents on the road this weekend to face off with Elly De La Cruz and the Cincinnati Reds (Saturday, May 25, 7:00 PM ET on FOX).
- Dansby Swanson and the Chicago Cubs renew their old-fashioned rivalry with Nolan Arenado and the St. Louis Cardinals as the teams get after it during this Memorial Day Weekend series in St. Louis (Saturday, May 25, 7:00 PM ET on FOX).
Spend part of your Memorial Day weekend with FOX, as "Baseball Night in America" returns on Saturday, May 25 at 7:00 PM (ET) with regional coverage of two National League matchups. The FOX primetime window serves as a precursor to the Marlins at Diamondbacks game that FS1 will air later that night, immediately following FOX's MLB coverage at 10:00 PM (ET)/7:00 PM (MST) with Jason Benetti & Mark Sweeney providing remote commentary.
Most of the country (including cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Tampa, Miami, Philadelphia, etc.) will watch two-time World Series champion Mookie Betts lead his Los Angeles Dodgers into Cincinnati to square off with one of the rising stars of the game of baseball, Elly De La Cruz, and the Cincinnati Reds.
The Dodgers currently have a sizable lead in the National League West over second place San Diego (7.5 GB ahead as of Wednesday, May 22) while the Reds try to make up ground in the NL Central (8.0 GB behind Milwaukee as of Wednesday, May 22) and NL Wild Card races (4.5 GB behind San Diego for the third and final NL Wild Card spot as of Wednesday, May 22). As you might expect, this series can tell us a lot about what direction these two teams might be heading into as the month of June nears.
The Dodgers have scored the second most runs in baseball (262 runs through 51 games as of Wednesday, May 22), only behind red-hot Philadelphia Phillies. For the Reds, keeping the Dodgers OFF the scoreboard has to be one of the main priorities.
The lead MLB on FOX crew of Joe Davis, John Smoltz and Ken Rosenthal will provide commentary from Cincinnati.
Viewers that are located primarily in the Midwest region (and Pittsburgh for divisional reasons) will get a National League Central showdown as Dansby Swanson and the Chicago Cubs visit Busch Stadium in St. Louis to face off with Nolan Arenado, and their longtime bitter rival, the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Cubs currently hold a playoff spot in the National League Wild Card picture (the second NL Wild Card as of Wednesday, May 22) and look to remain there, while the Cardinals need to pick up some steam as they are on the outside looking in right now in terms of the postseason (1.5 GB behind the Padres for the third Wild Card in the National League as of Wednesday, May 22).
Striking out at the plate has been a problem for the Cubs, as they rank ninth in Major League Baseball in terms of strikeouts (438 as of Wednesday, May 22).
Adam Amin & 2006 World Series champion Adam "Waino" Wainwright will have the call on FOX from St. Louis.
