    2. Are Gus and Jim still the lead broadcasters?

    3. @Mark T. As of now, Mark, I would say yes. Still waiting on FOX's release for the season; however, I was able to plug-in the schedule ahead of time.

  2. Indiana vs Tennessee: Lisa Byington and Sarah Kustok

    1. @Mark T. Perhaps Gus wanted time off following a long college football season

  4. Would Gus Johnson and Jim Jackson be able to call a women's basketball game?

    1. @Mark T. Mark, probably not. I think that Johnson and Jackson (and Raftery for that matter) are limited to the men's games only.

    2. Hmm. So then who's gonna call the Indiana-Iowa women's game in primetime?

  5. Nice to see FOX adding sideline reporters to regular season games.

    1. @Mark T. Absolutely. Plus, Allison Williams has not worked a college basketball game since 2021 (while she still was with ESPN/ABC), so I'm happy that FOX has decided to give her another shot covering college basketball games.

      Delete
    2. Yeah. Curious to see who will be pxp for the game, since it won't be Johnson/Jackson.

      Delete
    3. @Mark T. Well Mark, guess what?! Gus Johnson is indeed calling this Iowa/Indiana women's game tonight, alongside Sarah Kustok and Allison Williams. So apparently, Johnson can call women's games for FOX.

    4. Wow! I can't believe it! This should be really interesting.

  6. Wasn't Tim Brando supposed to call Georgetown vs Uconn?

    1. @Mark T. Mark, yes he was. Faust was probably a last-minute change for Brando due to travel issues thanks to this weekend's snowstorms and cold weather across most of the country.

    1. @Mark T. Mark, here are tomorrow's assignments for FOX and then, I will tell you how successful you were on the guesses.

      || FOX College Basketball game announcers -- Saturday, Jan. 27
      . 12:30 p.m. ET - Georgetown at Providence - Kevin Kugler & Jim Jackson
      . 3 p.m. ET - Indiana at Illinois - Jason Benetti & Robbie Hummel (confirmed previously)
      . 5:30 p.m. ET - Arizona at Oregon - Aaron Goldsmith & Casey Jacobsen
      . 8 p.m. ET - Notre Dame at Connecticut (women's) - Gus Johnson & Stephanie White

      - My scoring breakdown for your guesses:
      * Play-by-play:
      You were 3 for 3 (!!) in terms of the play-by-play commentators (Kugler on Georgetown/Providence, Goldsmith on Arizona/Oregon, and Johnson on Notre Dame/Connecticut women's).

      * Analyst:
      1 for 3 in terms of the game analysts (Jacobsen on Arizona/Oregon; Raftery and Kustok will both be working other assignments tomorrow, Raftery on Kansas/Iowa State for CBS and Kustok on Rockets/Nets for the YES Network).

      * Sideline Reporters:
      And 0 for 1 on the sideline reporter (Williams isn't working this broadcast).

      In fact, Mark, I appreciate you putting in these guesses! It's always good to guess where certain commentators might wind up. Predictions are just a fun way to figure out who's going where. I will commend you, bro! I always enjoy your posts because you read this blog often and your comments are spot on and right on the point. They are thoughtful, informative, and insightful. Appreciate it and keep it up!

    1. @Mark T. Mark, here are the announcers for FOX's Saturday CBB games:

      - Connecticut vs. St. John's (MSG) -- Tim Brando & Jim Jackson (nailed this pairing)
      - Utah State at San Diego State -- Jason Benetti, Casey Jacobsen & Allison Williams (Jacobsen is indeed working this game; Amin is working the SAC/CHI game tomorrow night for NBC Sports Chicago; Plus, we get another Allison Williams CBB sideline appearance!)
      - Maryland at Michigan State -- Kevin Kugler & Robbie Hummel (Benetti is working the Utah State/San Diego State game)
      - Iowa at Maryland (Women's) - Gus Johnson, Stephanie White & Kim Adams (Johnson is working yet another women's CBB game, his THIRD one of the season)

    2. Very interesting that Williams is working an afternoon game.

      Delete
    3. @Mark T. Mark, very interesting for sure. You would assume that Allison was working the primetime Iowa/Maryland women's game, since Gus Johnson was working that particular game. But give FOX credit for ACTUALLY using sideline reporters for regular season games, instead of saving them for the Big East Tournament (or in certain spots).

    4. I agree completely. It was dumb for FOX to wait until the Big East Championship to get a sideline reporter.

    1. @Mark T. Mark, here is FOX's assignments for this weekend and then, we will talk about your predictions (a detailed breakdown of your predictions is below):

      * Saturday, February 10
      . Creighton at Xavier - FOX, 12:30 p.m. ET - Tim Brando & Robbie Hummel
      . Villanova at Marquette (Women's) - FOX, 3 p.m. ET - Lisa Byington & Meghan McKeown
      . UCLA at California - FOX, 5:30 p.m. ET - Brandon Gaudin & Casey Jacobsen
      . Indiana at Purdue - FOX, 8 p.m. ET - Gus Johnson & Jim Jackson

      * Sunday, February 11 -- Super Bowl Sunday
      . Iowa at Nebraska (Women's) - FOX, 1 p.m. ET - Jason Benetti, Kim Adams & Allison Williams

      Now, let's discuss your predictions (your prediction first, the actual commentator pairing, the reasoning why your prediction was correct/incorrect, and the grade for each prediction):

      | - Saturday:
      * Creighton at Xavier - Tim Brando & Nick Bahe (prediction); Tim Brando & Robbie Hummel (actual) - you nailed Brando on pxp; Bahe is calling Maryland/Ohio State for FS1 Saturday afternoon. [ 1/2 = 50% ]

      * Villanova at Marquette - John Fanta & Sarah Kustok (prediction); Lisa Byington & Meghan McKeown (actual) - Fanta isn't working a game this weekend (as far I know). Kustok is working Spurs-Nets for the YES Network tonight (I believe). [ 0/2 = 0% ]

      * UCLA at California - Jason Benetti & Casey Jacobsen (prediction); Brandon Gaudin, Casey Jacobsen (actual) - you nailed Jacobsen on analysis. Benetti is working Sunday's Iowa/Nebraska women's game for FOX. [ 1/2 = 50% ]

      * Indiana at Purdue - Gus Johnson, Jim Jackson & Allison Williams (prediction); Gus Johnson & Jim Jackson (actual) - you nailed Johnson & Jackson here! Williams is working on Sunday afternoon (Iowa/Nebraska women's), not Saturday night. So yes, Williams is working a game, but not the game you figured she would be. [ 2/3 = 67% ]

      | - Sunday (Super Bowl Sunday):
      * Iowa at Nebraska (Women's) - Lisa Byington & Stephanie White (prediction); Jason Benetti, Kim Adams & Allison Williams (actual) - Byington is doing Saturday's Villanova/Marquette women's game. White isn't working a game this weekend (I think). [ 0/2 = 0% ]

      Your final grade for this week's predictions: 4/11 (36%)

      I appreciate you making predictions every single week! Please continue to do that, Mark. You are the reason why I do this, to try and help others and provide others with knowledge!

      And btw, we can't get everything right. Nobody's perfect, not even you or me. But, it's still good to predict and try to think about where commentators can/should go.

    1. @Mark T. Mark, here's a breakdown of your predictions:

      Creighton vs. Butler -- Tim Brando did the Marquette/Connecticut game (with Donny Marshall). Robbie Hummel did the Illinois/Maryland game (with Jason Benetti).

      Marquette vs. Connecticut (Hartford, CT) -- You nailed Donny Marshall on color commentary; However, Jason Benetti did the Illinois/Maryland game. Tim Brando did work this game alongside Marshall (and you nailed Brando as one of Saturday's pxp announcers, just had the wrong game).

      Illinois vs. Maryland -- You nailed one of Saturday's commentating duos, but the wrong game (Kugler/Ellis wound up doing Creighton/Butler earlier in the day); Jason Benetti & Robbie Hummel did commentary on this game.

      Michigan State vs. Michigan -- You nailed this one perfectly!

      You nailed the exact play-by-play commentators (Brando, Benetti, Kugler & Johnson) and color analysts (Hummel, Marshall, Ellis & Jackson) on Saturday! You nailed two of the four commentator teams too (Johnson/Jackson and Kugler/Ellis)! You just had two incorrect teams on the day (Brando/Marshall instead of Brando/Hummel and Benetti/Hummel instead of Benetti/Marshall).

      Mark, this was one of your best predictions so far though! I will give you credit for that.

    1. @Mark T. Mark, you nailed Lisa Byington on the Creighton/Connecticut women's game on Presidents' Day. Sarah Kustok will be working alongside Byington for this broadcast. No Allison Williams for this one unfortunately.

      Kevin Kugler & Christy Winters-Scott will be calling the Indiana/Illinois Presidents' Day women's game. Stephanie White was working a game for ABC/ESPN this weekend, I believe (South Carolina-Georgia). And Brandon Gaudin had Northwestern/Indiana for FS1 on Sunday afternoon, I believe.

The 506 Archive website is a Wikipedia style website featuring announcer assignments from various different sports, including the professional and collegiate ranks. That's why I often have announcers posted on here from a few days to sometimes weeks in advance. I often like to think ahead and grab announcer assignments as soon as I see them, via the 506 Archive website, team websites, etc.

      Here's a link to the page where I found out about the Brandon Gaudin Marquette-Creighton assignment: https://archive.506sports.com/wiki/2023-24_College_Basketball_Season_(March)

  15. Wondering how Sarah Kustok will be able to call Hawks-Nets and then fly out to Iowa for Ohio State-Iowa

    1. @Mark T. Mark, actually Sarah Kustok did not have to worry about the crazy schedule of calling Hawks/Nets on Saturday and Ohio State/Iowa on Sunday. Vince Carter filled in for Kustok for the Hawks-Nets game on Saturday. So everything worked out for Kustok.

  18. Why are Benetti and Hummel doing two games back to back?

    1. @Mark T. Mark, Benetti and Hummel are likely calling two games back to back to likely either reduce travel (a drive from Cincinnati, OH where Xavier plays to West Lafayette, IN where Purdue plays is about three hours give or take) or other announcers on the FOX stable weren't available for Sunday's Wisconsin/Purdue game (and thus Benetti/Hummel had to double up). But man, I don't understand why FOX would not have had a separate crew for Sunday's game so Benetti and Hummel would not have to double up and waste unnecessary travel. Mark, your point is pretty damn valid. Don't double up on announcer assignments unless you HAVE to, not because you WANT to.

    2. Exactly. I know Brandon Gaudin was working Illinois-Iowa, but FOX could've used Alex Faust and Nick Bahe (who I said in my predictions).

    3. @Mark T. Actually Mark, Faust and Bahe were BOTH unavailable for Sunday's Wisconsin/Purdue game (Faust working hockey for TNT and Bahe was working for the Big Ten Network), so FOX really didn't have any other options besides Benetti/Hummel. But STILL, FOX should have prepared for this scenario and using the same set of announcers for two games with travel involved and a quick turnaround too makes NO sense whatsoever.

  19. Wonder why they couldn't get Tom Rinaldi to do sidelines for the Big East Championship.

    1. @Mark T. Mark, I don't know why. It would have been cool to see Tom Rinaldi work something on FOX not football-related.

  20. It's Marquette vs Uconn in the Big East Championship and Oregon vs Colorado in the Pac 12 Championship.
