NBC's Sunday Night Football Again Sets Bar High for Top NFL Games in 2021
NBC Sports to Present 25 NFL Games during 2020 Season, including Super Bowl LVI from SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.
Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Dallas, Green Bay & San Francisco to Appear at the Maximum "SNF" limit of 3 times
NBC Sports, home of Sunday Night Football, has announced its 2021 NFL schedule. NBC will capture the biggest NFL season ever, from NFL Kickoff 2021 in Tampa on September 9th to the final game of the 2021 NFL season, Super Bowl LVI on February 13th, 2022, from SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.
Sunday Night Football has been America's No. 1 primetime television show for 10 consecutive seasons (2011-2020).
NBC will feature 25 NFL games this season. 20 regular-season contests, 4 playoff contests, and 1 preseason game. This will mark NBC's highest NFL output since Sunday Night Football on NBC started back in 2006.
This year, Sunday Night Football will host some of the league's most exciting matchups. In addition, 9 games featuring two 2020 playoff-bound teams, including last season's AFC Championship re-match with Buffalo at Kansas City on October 10th (Week 5).
Every team that qualified for the 2020 NFL playoffs will make at least 1 SNF appearance this season. NBC will show the defending Super Bowl champs Tampa Bay Buccaneers, defending AFC champions Kansas City Chiefs, and the defending NFC North champions Green Bay Packers three times each.
NBC's schedule begins with NFL Kickoff 2021 on Thursday, September 9th, as the defending Super Bowl Champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady host the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott, coming off a nasty October 2020 injury. Cowboys vs. Buccaneers is live from Tampa's Raymond James Stadium (the site of last year's Super Bowl LV).
In NBC's Sunday Night Football opener on Sunday, September 12th, fans will get their first dibs of the new SoFi Stadium as Chicago Bears visit the Los Angeles Rams. Two new quarterbacks enter their fold for Chicago in veteran Andy Dalton and first-round draft choice Justin Fields. Bears-Rams will also showcase Khalil Mack and the debut of new Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
On Sunday, September 19th, NBC presents a marquee quarterback matchup from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. 2018 NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs visit 2019 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. It shall be a fun one with plenty of points!
Tom Brady's return to Foxborough is set for Sunday, October 3rd (Week 4) as the Buccaneers visit the Patriots. Brady won six Super Bowls in New England and earned the esteemed distinction of being the most successful quarterback in NFL history.
An AFC West rivalry headlines SNF on Sunday, November 14th (Week 10) as the Chiefs visit the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. Last year's game saw four lead changes in the fourth quarter. Patrick Mahomes threw a game-winning touchdown with less than 30 seconds remaining. Chiefs-Raiders will be the first SNF game with fans allowed in attendance.
This year, NBC's Thanksgiving night game on Thursday, November 25th (Week 12) shall be a great one as Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills lock horns with Demario Davis and the New Orleans Saints at 8:20 PM (ET). Then, Thanksgiving weekend continues with Sunday Night Football on Sunday, November 28th at 8:20 PM (ET) as Baker Mayfield and the Browns battle Lamar's Ravens in an AFC North hookup.
NBC will also carry a preseason game on Sunday, August 29th at 8:00 PM (ET) as the Cleveland Browns visit the Atlanta Falcons.
Once NBC's regular-season schedule is completed, NBC will air four postseason games. Two Wild Card games during the January 15-16 weekend, one Divisional Playoff game on January 22 and 23, and finally, Super Bowl LVI on Sunday, February 13th at SoFi Stadium.

ReplyDeleteI really think that Mike Tirico should calling Some Sunday Night Football Games on NBC just in case Al Michaels doesn't call them but it remains to be seen but I'll think he should call Some Sunday Night Football Games close to where he lives and let Mike Tirico do the other half of Sunday Night Football Games to keep him from working Every Week because with the COV19 pandemic and his health as well so keep me update on that information as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteMichaels will likely be calling most of the line up with Tirico calling certain weeks. Michaels made it through last year and I may be wrong but he is probably vaccinated. NBC will likely announce what they are doing within the next couple weeks

Delete@jtcramerdog@gmail.com I kinda figured you asked that question in your first comment. Since PIT/LAC is a west coast game and Al typically works games in the Midwest and West Coast (with select East Coast games), I put him on that particular game.
DeleteRegarding your second comment, Al Michaels said on a podcast recently that he is off the entire Thanksgiving week, meaning that Tirico will call both BUF/NO on Thanksgiving night and CLE/BAL the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Ok thanks I didn't know Al typically works West Coast and Midwest with select East Coast games and he said the other thing recently on a podcast
