Happy holidays and Merry Christmas, my friends! Welcome to the Week 17 publishing of the "NFL on CBS: Field Pass"! Our goal, as always, is to provide you with a preview of the upcoming week's edition of the NFL on CBS. With Christmas coming, this week serves as the perfect opportunity to see which teams are on Santa's nice and naughty list. We have a marquee Seahawks-Panthers showdown, Steelers and Browns renewing their rivalry, Giants & Raiders fighting for the #1 pick next year, & two rookie quarterbacks set to take the field. All of those stories and more are coming up on this week's NFL on CBS: Field Pass.
For the final Sunday of 2025, on Sunday, December 28, CBS will air a Week 17 regional singleheader, with game action kicking off at either 1:00 PM ET or 4:05 PM ET. Check your local listings or the bottom of this article to figure out which game CBS will be assigning to your local market. "The NFL Today" will be shown nationwide at 12:00 PM ET, followed by whatever game your local station will be broadcasting. CBS has only four games this week, including Saints-Titans (1:00 PM ET), Steelers-Browns (1:00 PM ET), Seahawks-Panthers (1:00 PM ET), & Giants-Raiders (4:05 PM ET).
CBS kicks off its football Sundays with the iconic "The NFL Today powered by RAM Trucks" pregame show at 12:00 PM ET. Veteran studio host James Brown gets the honor of hosting this pregame staple with a cast of analysts that bring tons of experience to the table, including the 2016 NFL MVP Matt Ryan, Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach Bill Cowher, and former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson. Additionally, lead NFL on CBS insider Jonathan Jones appears on the program to provide insight from around the National Football League.
Kenneth Gainwell and the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers (9-6) visit Myles Garrett and the AFC North rival Cleveland Browns (3-12) on Sunday, December 28, at 1:00 PM ET on CBS, broadcast by the lead NFL on CBS team of Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (analyst), & Tracy Wolfson (reporter). The Steelers have won four of the past six meetings following a 23-9 win in Week 6. Connor Heyward, the brother of longtime Steeler and defensive captain Cameron Heyward, caught a touchdown pass in that game.
Kenneth Walker III and the current NFC No. 1 seed Seattle Seahawks (12-3) make the long sojourn to the East Coast for a potential Wild Card playoff preview against Isaiah Simmons and the Carolina Panthers (8-7) on Sunday, December 28, at 1:00 PM ET on CBS, as play-by-play commentator Ian Eagle, analyst and three-time Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt, and reporter Evan Washburn take the call from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Seahawks won a wild game, 38-37, over the Rams in Week 16 on Thursday Night Football. During Week 16, the Panthers edged the Buccaneers 23-20 to take control of the NFC South with two weeks remaining. If the Seahawks win this game, coupled with a Rams loss against the Falcons on Monday night & a 49ers loss vs. the Bears on Sunday night, the Seahawks would win their first NFC West title since 2020. As for the Panthers, a win plus a Buccaneers loss in Miami this week would allow Carolina to clinch their first NFC South title since their Super Bowl season back in 2015. Seahawks QB Sam Darnold passed for 270 yards & 2 TD's in Week 16 vs. the Rams. Seahawks CB Devon Witherspoon had nine tackles & a tackle for loss in Week 16 vs. the Rams. Panthers QB Bryce Young passed for 191 yards & 2 TD's for a 102.5 QB rating in Week 16 against the Buccaneers. Panthers CB Mike Jackson had three passes defensed in Week 16 vs. the Buccaneers.
Rookie quarterbacks battle in the Volunteer State as Cam Ward (rookie) and the Tennessee Titans (3-12) host Tyler Shough (rookie) and the New Orleans Saints (5-10) on Sunday, December 28 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS, featuring play-by-play commentator Andrew Catalon, analyst and Super Bowl champion Jason McCourty, fellow analyst Charles Davis, & AJ Ross covering the sidelines.
Jaxson Dart (rookie) and the New York Giants (2-13) play their final road game of 2025 as they face Eric Stokes Jr. and the Las Vegas Raiders (2-13) on Sunday, December 28 at 4:05 PM ET on CBS, with Kevin Harlan (play-by-play), former two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Trent Green (analyst), & Melanie Collins (sidelines) on the call.
