Mike "Doc" Emrick, Eddie Olczyk & Pierre McGuire to Call 13th Consecutive Stanley Cup Final as Broadcast Team
2019 Stanley Cup Final: St. Louis Blues vs. Boston Bruins
NBC or NBCSN to Televise 2019 Stanley Cup Final
This year's Stanley Cup Final is a rematch of the 1970 Stanley Cup Final, highlighted by one of the most iconic goals in NHL history, when Bruins Hall of Famer Bobby Orr scored the Cup-clinching goal in overtime as he flew across the crease past St. Louis goaltender Glenn Hall.
The Boston Bruins advanced to the Stanley Cup Final after defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 4-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Bruins are making their 20th overall appearance in the Cup Final plus their 3rd in the last nine seasons (2011 and 2013 previous to this one).
The St. Louis Blues advanced to their first Stanley Cup Final in 49 years after defeating the San Jose Sharks 4-2 in the Western Conference Finals (5-1 was the final score in the Game 6 win at Enterprise Center). The Blues are the only expansion team (1967-68) to be in the last place in the overall League standings following the 20th regular season game and rebound all the way to the Stanley Cup Final. They also did this in the inaugural season, 1967-68, from No. 12 in the Standings in mid-December to reaching the Final. St. Louis looks to win their first Stanley Cup, hoping for a much more favorable outcome than the 1970 Final, when Boston swept them.
Seven-time Emmy Award play-by-play commentator Mike "Doc" Emrick, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member & lead NHL on NBC booth analyst Eddie Olczyk & longtime "Inside-the-Glass" reporter and Emmy Award winner Pierre McGuire will call the action throughout the whole duration of the series.
The NBC broadcast network will televise Game 1 on Monday, May 27th (STL @ BOS) plus Game 4 and Games 5-7 (if necessary). NBCSN will televise Game 2 on Wednesday, May 29th (STL @ BOS) and Saturday, June 1st (BOS @ STL).
