| ⏵ Wednesday, September 30, 2026 (Press Release):

🟄 Highlights:
  • The 2026 WNBA Playoffs presented by Google Pixel continue this Sunday (October 4) with the start of the Liberty/Dream and Aces/Valkyries semifinal series.
  • ESPN will exclusively televise the Liberty-Dream series, while NBC Sports will have exclusive rights to broadcast the Aces-Valkyries series.
  • Semifinal winners will then meet in the WNBA Finals, which begins on Saturday, October 17.
  • Semifinals — Liberty vs. Dream: Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream face Jonquel Jones and the New York Liberty, with a trip to the WNBA Finals on the line.
  • Semifinals — Valkyries vs. Aces: Gabby Williams and the Golden State Valkyries, in their first-ever semifinals appearance, play four-time MVP A’ja Wilson and the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces, as these two clubs compete for a WNBA Finals spot.

Following the first round of the WNBA playoffs, the semifinals portion of the postseason schedule begins with two games on Sunday, October 4, with Liberty vs. Dream Game 1 at 2:00 PM ET on ABC and the ESPN App, followed by Aces vs. Valkyries Game 1 at 4:00 PM ET on NBC and Peacock.

These semifinals feature the New York Liberty, one of the WNBA’s original teams, and the Golden State Valkyries, in just their second season in the WNBA.

The Las Vegas Aces have won three of the last four WNBA championships and are in the WNBA semifinals for the eighth consecutive season. The Atlanta Dream are in their first WNBA semifinals since 2018, and Atlanta is still looking for their first-ever WNBA championship.

Two WNBA legends — A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas) and Breanna Stewart (New York) — each have three WNBA championships and can add to their collections this year. Golden State and Atlanta don’t have WNBA icons (at least not yet), but do have home courts in these best-of-five series.

Let’s talk about the two semifinal series that are scheduled to begin on Sunday afternoon 👇:

🔘 ⬦ (8) New York Liberty vs. (4) Atlanta Dream — Semifinals, Game 1 — Sunday, 2:00 PM ET on ABC & ESPN App:
Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty (No. 8 seed), who became the first No. 8 seed to ever defeat a No. 1 seed in the 30-year history of the WNBA, take on Jordin Canada and the Atlanta Dream (No. 1 seed) in Game 1 of this best-of-five Semifinal series on Sunday, October 4 at 2:00 PM ET on ABC and the ESPN App.

🎙 ESPN’s lead WNBA crew of Ryan Ruocco (play-by-play) and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo (analyst) provide commentary for the Liberty-Dream semifinals, joined regularly by sideline reporter Holly Rowe.

Atlanta claimed this year’s regular-season series, taking two of three meetings vs. New York (both Dream wins came in September).

The Liberty and Dream swept their respective first-round opponents. In the first round, the No. 8 seed Liberty became the first club to take out a No. 1 seed in WNBA playoff history when New York swept Minnesota in two games, with each game being decided by at least 16 points. The Lynx only led for a grand total of 3:23 in the entire two-game mini-series. Breanna Stewart is the Liberty’s leading scorer in the playoffs, averaging 27.5 points per game.

Atlanta easily defeated Washington in the first round, winning these games by 15 and 18 points, respectively, en route to their first semifinal appearance since the 2018 season. The guard combo of Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray is averaging a combined 42.5 points per game for the Dream thus far in the playoffs.

🎙 ESPN’s lead WNBA crew of Ryan Ruocco (play-by-play) and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo (analyst) provide commentary for the Liberty-Dream semifinals, joined regularly by sideline reporter Holly Rowe.

🔘 ⬦ (3) Las Vegas Aces vs. (2) Golden State Valkyries — Semifinals, Game 1 — Sunday, 4:00 PM ET (1:00 PM PT) on NBC & Peacock:
Brianna Turner and the reigning WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces (No. 3 seed) tangle with Kayla Thornton and the Golden State Valkyries (No. 2 seed) in the first game of this best-of-five Semifinal series on Sunday, October 4 at 4:00 PM ET on NBC and Peacock.

🎙 Zora Stephenson (play-by-play) will call the Aces-Valkyries series, joined by Sarah Kustok (analyst) and Ashley ShahAhmadi (sideline reporter).

Las Vegas swept Golden State in the regular season, with the Aces winning all three of the matchups.

Both teams advanced to the semifinals after exciting Game 3 victories in their respective first-round series. A’ja Wilson started the postseason strong, and she is highly favored to win yet another Finals MVP if Las Vegas returns to the WNBA Finals. The trio of Wilson, Jackie Young, and Chelsea Gray has combined to pour in 71 points, 15.7 assists, and 9.7 rebounds over three playoff games.

Golden State flexed its defensive muscle in the opening series, limiting the Wings to 76.5 points per game in the two victories in that series. Natalie Nakase’s team prides itself on its defense. Valkyries G Gabby Williams helped Golden State advance in Game 3 vs. Dallas on Friday evening, as Williams registered 24.5 points, 4.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals throughout the First Round.

Once the series begins, the WNBA semifinals will then continue through Friday, October 9, with New York/Atlanta and Golden State/Las Vegas guaranteed at least three games. If additional games are needed in the semifinals, those contests will be played on Sunday, October 11 (Game 4) and Wednesday, October 14 (Game 5).

For most of you, your local Fox station will air an early singleheader game beginning at 1:00 PM ET. Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles (1-2) host Blake Corum and the Los Angeles Rams (2-1) in notable early game action. Additional 1:00 PM ET game matchups on Fox include Cowboys vs. Texans from Houston, Jets vs. Bears in Chicago, and Packers vs. Buccaneers from Tampa.

Continue going through the article for game capsules.

► Rams (1-2) vs. Eagles (2-1) — Sunday, 1:00 PM ET on Fox & Fox One:
Cooper DeJean and the Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) suit up against Kobie Turner and the visiting Los Angeles Rams (1-2) from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox & Fox One. Philly comes in 2-1 after an embarrassing 27-7 loss in Chicago on Monday night, while Los Angeles is 1-2 after last Sunday evening’s 30-26 defeat to the Broncos.

Fox’s top team of Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play), seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady (analyst), Erin Andrews (reporter) & Tom Rinaldi (reporter) will have the call of Rams-Eagles from Philadelphia.

► Cowboys (1-2) vs. Texans (0-3) — Sunday, 1:00 PM ET (12:00 PM CT) on Fox & Fox One:
Javonte Williams and the Dallas Cowboys (1-2) get ready to play Will Anderson Jr. and the winless Houston Texans (0-3) as two clubs from the Lone Star State collide from Houston’s Reliant Stadium on Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET/12:00 PM CT on Fox & Fox One.

Kenny Albert (play-by-play) leads Fox’s Cowboys-Texans announcing team, joined by three-time Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen (analyst) and veteran reporter Pam Oliver (sidelines).

Of course, the Cowboys are fresh off a tough 34-31 loss to the Ravens down in Brazil last Sunday. Once again, the Cowboys’ defense was a major letdown, as that unit couldn’t be trusted when it was needed down the stretch. DC Christian Parker and the Cowboys’ D have plenty of work to do. However, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott tossed his 250th career touchdown pass last week despite the difficult outcome. Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb finished last week’s game vs. the Ravens with 7 catches for 112 yards.

The Texans dropped last week’s game, 19-17, to the Indianapolis Colts in AFC South action. Times are tough for Houston, as the team finds itself three games below. 500 already and a loss to the Cowboys on Sunday basically could put Houston in a hole that would be too difficult to overcome. Houston’s defense tried its best to power the Texans to a win. The Texans’ defense put C.J. Stroud and company in a great position at the Colts’ 40-yard line on the Texans’ first possession, thanks to a strip-sack by Will Anderson Jr. Despite that, Houston would eventually turn the ball over in four plays.

► Jets (1-2) vs. Bears (2-1) — Sunday, 1:00 PM ET (12:00 PM CT) on Fox & Fox One:
Breece Hall and the New York Jets (1-2) travel to the Windy City to face Montez Sweat and the Chicago Bears (2-1) on Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET/12:00 PM CT on Fox & Fox One.

Tim Brando (play-by-play), Pro Football Hall of Famer Drew Brees (analyst) & Kristina Pink (reporter) will call the Jets-Bears game from Soldier Field in Chicago.

The Jets fell to the Lions, 31-24, in Week #3. QB Geno Smith and the Jets offense needed a moment to get settled in. After a tough start, Smith went to work for the Jets, throwing for 321 yards on 31-for-37 with three touchdown passes. Jets TE Kenyon Sadiq (rookie) produced the best game of his NFL career to date, finishing with 105 yards and his first-ever NFL receiving touchdown on seven receptions. The Jets MUST find a way to turn tight losses into victories.

The Bears are coming off a dominant 27-7 win over the Eagles on “Monday Night Football”, thanks to a tremendous performance from Bears QB Case Keenum. Bears QB Case Keenum is the second player aged 38 or older with two-plus passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in a prime-time contest, joining Tom Brady (Week 5, 2018, against the Colts). The Bears aligned under center on 58% of their offensive snaps last week against Philadelphia, their highest rate since Week 14 of the 2025 season. Bears WR Luther Burden caught seven passes for 61 yards and a touchdown reception in Week 3. Burden has 60+ receiving yards in 2 of the last 3 games.

► Packers (1-2) vs. Buccaneers (0-3) — Sunday, 1:00 PM ET on Fox & Fox One:
Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers (1-2) meet Vita Vea and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-3) from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET on Fox & Fox One.

Sunday’s Packers-Buccaneers contest features commentary from Chris Myers (play-by-play), Super Bowl champion Jonathan Vilma (analyst) & Jen Hale (field reporter).

The Packers were crushed by the Falcons, 35-14, on “Thursday Night Football” last week at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Green Bay dropped their home opener at Lambeau Field for the first time since the 2012 season. Unfortunately, the Packers played last week with Micah Parsons (knee) and Josh Jacobs (Commissioner’s Exempt List). Plus, several offensive injuries plagued the Packers too. Packers QB Jordan Love threw for 312 yards & 2 TDs last week against the Falcons. Love faced heat and was inaccurate with some throws.

The Buccaneers narrowly lost to the Vikings, 23-16, in Week #3 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The Buccaneers will be without QB Baker Mayfield (thumb), who was injured in last Sunday’s home loss to Minnesota. Tampa Bay will now turn to 23-year-old Jalon Daniels, a rookie from the University of Kansas. In limited action last week, Daniels went 0-for-3 with an interception tossed. Tampa Bay has to win to get back into the NFC South race, with all four teams currently below .500. Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving had 58 scrimmage yards (46 rushing, 12 receiving) against the Vikings in Week 3.

🞹 Singleheader — Late Game Only | Dolphins at Vikings | Sunday, 4:05 PM ET (3:05 PM CT) on Fox & Fox One:
Select Fox stations will air the Miami Dolphins vs. Minnesota Vikings late-afternoon game from Minneapolis, with coverage starting at 4:00 PM ET. Keep reading for additional details about Sunday’s Dolphins-Vikings game on Fox.

► Dolphins (0-3) vs. Vikings (3-0) — Sunday, 4:05 PM ET (3:05 PM CT) on Fox & Fox One:
Josh Uche and the winless Miami Dolphins (0-3) go to U.S. Bank Stadium to oppose Blake Cashman and the host Minnesota Vikings (3-0) on Sunday, October 4 at 4:05 PM ET/3:05 PM CT on Fox & Fox One.

Kevin Kugler (play-by-play), three-time Super Bowl champion Daryl Johnston (analyst) & Allison Williams (field reporter) will be on the call from Minneapolis.

The Dolphins lost 24-10 to the Chiefs last week in their home opener at Hard Rock Stadium. There are no such things as moral victories in professional football. However, to Miami’s credit, they hung in there with Kansas City for the most part last week. Despite Miami’s offense being limited to under 14 points for the third straight week, it showed some flashes while dealing with a shorthanded deck. The Dolphins’ leading receiver, Caleb Douglas, didn’t play in Week 3 due to an ankle injury. Plus, Dolphins RB De’Von Achane was lost early in Week 3 with a knee injury.

The Vikings edged the Buccaneers 23-16 last week. After missing Week #2 due to a concussion suffered in Week #1 against the Packers, Vikings QB Kyler Murray returned to the Vikings’ lineup last week. Murray struggled somewhat, only passing for 168 yards in Week 3 vs. the Bucs. But Murray and the Vikings did just enough to remain undefeated heading into the Week #4 matchup against the Dolphins at home. Tampa Bay and Minnesota combined for 17 points in last Sunday’s game, the most punts in an NFL game since Week 7, 2024, between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles (19). The Vikings will be without four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Justin Jefferson this Sunday, as he was ruled out with an ankle injury.

⯈ Patriots (1-2) vs. Bills (3-0) — Sunday, 1:00 PM ET on CBS & Paramount+:
C.J. Gardner-Johnson and the undefeated Buffalo Bills (3-0) host Marcus Jones and the New England Patriots (1-2) at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York on Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS and Paramount+. The Bills defeated the Chargers, 24-16, in Week #3 behind two touchdown passes from quarterback Josh Allen. The Patriots try to rebound following a 35-6 smacking in Jacksonville last week.

Ian Eagle (play-by-play), Ross Tucker (analyst) & Evan Washburn (field reporter) broadcast the AFC East contest from the new Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.

⯈ Cardinals (1-2) vs. Giants (2-1) — Sunday, 1:00 PM ET on CBS & Paramount+:
Michael Wilson and the Arizona Cardinals (1-2) line up against Tremaine Edmunds and the New York Giants (2-1) on Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS and Paramount+.

The Cardinals-Giants game can be seen on CBS on Sunday, with play-by-play announcer Spero Dedes, analyst and former NFL defensive back Adam Archuleta, and field reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala.

Last week, the Cardinals narrowly lost to the 49ers, 36-30, in NFC West play. Despite trailing 17-6 at halftime, Arizona made the game somewhat competitive thanks to rookie RB Jeremiyah Love, who picked up his first game with 100 scrimmage yards (90 rushing) and contributed a receiving score. Following Arizona’s Week 1 win over the Chargers, Arizona has crashed back down to Earth with consecutive losses to the Seahawks and 49ers. Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett dished the ball out to WR Michael Wilson (11 catches, 89 yards, TD) and TE Trey McBride (9 catches, 75 yards) in the Week 3 matchup against the 49ers. Arizona plays its second consecutive road game this week.

The Giants sneaked past the Titans, 12-7, in Week #3, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Despite playing their first game without their young QB Jaxson Dart, the Giants won without scoring a single touchdown. Running backs Najee Harris and Cam Skattebo combined for 112 yards on 29 carries against the Titans last week. Giants K Dominic Zvada drilled four field goals in the Giants’ Week 3 victory over the Titans. The Giants play another home game over at MetLife Stadium in Week #4.

⯈ Jaguars (2-1) vs. Bengals (2-1) — Sunday, 1:00 PM ET on CBS & Paramount+:
Josh Hines-Allen and the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1) go head-to-head with Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) in a battle of two 2-1 teams on Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS and Paramount+.

Tom McCarthy (play-by-play) joins Super Bowl champion Robert Turbin (analyst) & Tiffany Blackmon (field reporter) to announce the early afternoon game from Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Jaguars are fresh off a 35-6 spanking of the New England Patriots at home last week. Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence finished Week 3 play with three touchdown passes and a superb QB rating of 102.9. Lawrence has accounted for seven touchdowns through the air to just two interceptions through the first three weeks of the season. Jaguars HC Liam Coen has a golden opportunity to help Jacksonville reach consecutive postseasons for the first time since 1998-99. Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter FINALLY snagged career interception No. 1 last week in DUVAL, picking off Patriots QB Drake Maye. Many more interceptions are coming your way, Mr. Hunter! 😏

The Bengals were clipped, 30-27, by the Steelers in Week 3 action at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Following two straight wins, Cincinnati suffered its first loss of the season. After playing well for most of the Steelers game, Cincinnati made key errors in the fourth quarter, including on special teams and a late strip sack that essentially ended the game. On a positive note, Bengals WRs Ja’Marr Chase (98 yards) and Tee Higgins (90 yards) looked decent, with both scoring touchdowns against Pittsburgh in Week 3. Bengals DT Dexter Lawrence had a career-high three tackles for loss against the Steelers last week.

⯈ Titans (0-3) vs. Ravens (2-1) — Sunday, 1:00 PM ET on CBS & Paramount+:
Following a THRILLING win in Rio last Sunday, Kyle Hamilton and the Baltimore Ravens (2-1) return stateside to host Amani Hooker and the winless Tennessee Titans (0-3) on Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS and Paramount+.

Titans-Ravens will receive regional coverage on CBS, featuring the commentary team of Chris Lewis (play-by-play), Hall of Famer Luke Kuechly (analyst) & Amanda Balionis (reporter).

The Titans lost 12-7 to the Giants in Week #3. Unfortunately, despite MetLife Stadium’s familiarity to former Giants head coach Brian Daboll (TEN offensive coordinator) and Jets coach Robert Saleh (TEN head coach), both left New Jersey without a win. Despite finishing with more total net yards (262 to 238) and more first downs (17 to 16) than the Giants, Tennessee didn’t make enough plays to win. Titans QB Cam Ward went 23-for-36 (63.9%) for 181 yards & a TD in Week #3 against the Giants.

The Ravens feel good after last week’s exciting 34-31 win over the Cowboys in the first-ever NFL regular season game held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. How about that Baltimore-Dallas game, huh? Ravens WR Zay Flowers led the team in scrimmage yards with 104 (84 receiving, 20 rushing) last week against the Cowboys. Ravens RB Derrick Henry rushed for 89 yards & 2 TD’s in the Week 3 wild win over the Cowboys. Ravens K Tyler Loop hit a 56-yard field goal as time expired to give the Ravens a crazy 34-31 victory.

✱ Doubleheader, Game #2 | Chiefs at Raiders, Broncos at 49ers, Chargers at Seahawks | Sunday, 4:25 PM ET/3:25 PM CT — CBS, Paramount+:
Stay tuned for the second half of the NFL on CBS Week #4 doubleheader, with game coverage starting at 4:25 PM ET. Most of the country will see an AFC West showdown as the Chiefs visit the Raiders. Other late games include Broncos vs. 49ers from Santa Clara and Chargers vs. Seahawks from Seattle. Read on for game summaries regarding the late games.

⯈ Chiefs (3-0) vs. Raiders (3-0) — Sunday, 4:25 PM ET (1:25 PM PT) on CBS & Paramount+:
Maxx Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders (3-0) host Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, October 4 at 4:25 PM ET/1:25 PM PT on CBS and Paramount+. Both teams have yet to lose this year and are tied for first place in the AFC West. The Raiders defeated the Chiefs during Week #18 of the 2025 season, 14-12.

Sunday’s Chiefs-Raiders serves as the national doubleheader game on CBS, with Jim Nantz (play-by-play), three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner JJ Watt (analyst) & Tracy Wolfson (sideline reporter) announcing the action.

⯈ Broncos (2-1) vs. 49ers (3-0) — Sunday, 4:25 PM ET (1:25 PM PT) on CBS & Paramount+:
An exciting Week 4 matchup awaits from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, as J.K. Dobbins and the Denver Broncos (2-1) lock horns with Christian McCaffrey and the undefeated San Francisco 49ers (3-0) on Sunday, October 4 at 4:25 PM ET/1:25 PM PT on CBS and Paramount+.

CBS Sports will have the legendary Kevin Harlan (play-by-play), two-time Pro Bowl QB Trent Green (analyst) & Melanie Collins (reporter) on the broadcast team for Broncos-49ers.

The Broncos beat the Rams 30-26 on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 3. Denver seeks their third consecutive win after the Week 1 loss to Kansas City on “Monday Night Football”. Broncos QB Bo Nix finished 17-for-34 for 186 yards, 2 TDs, and an INT in the Week 3 home victory over the Rams. Last week’s game served as the 12th game-winning drive for the third-year Broncos QB, the most since the former Oregon/Auburn quarterback entered the league in 2024. Can the Broncos’ offense get right as the season progresses? Broncos S Talanoa Hufanga became the first player to record two pick-sixes off Rams QB Matthew Stafford last week, returning one 66 yards to the crib.

The 49ers stayed perfect with a 36-30 home victory over the Cardinals last week at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. San Francisco begins 3-0 in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1989 & 1990, when the 1989 squad eventually won the Super Bowl. This San Francisco undefeated team is dealing with significant injuries yet again, as the team played without DE Nick Bosa (calf), WR Demarcus Robinson (ankle), & DT James Thompson Jr. (ankle). To add insult to injury, they lost WR Mike Evans and LT Trent Williams during the game. The fact that San Francisco has successfully maneuvered through these injuries is NOTHING short of remarkable, man.

⯈ Chargers (0-3) vs. Seahawks (2-1) — Sunday, 4:25 PM ET (1:25 PM PT) on CBS & Paramount+:
Tarheeb Still and the winless Los Angeles Chargers (0-3) try to FINALLY grab their first dub in this tough road matchup against star Jaxon Smith-Njigba and the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks (2-1) on Sunday, October 4 at 4:25 PM ET/1:25 PM PT on CBS and Paramount+.

Andrew Catalon (play-by-play) and two-time Super Bowl champion Logan Ryan (analyst) will be in the booth for Chargers-Seahawks, accompanied by field reporter AJ Ross.

The Chargers enter October with a sense of desperation as they try to shake off last week’s 24-16 loss to the Bills in Orchard Park, New York. Things have gotten off to a disappointing start in Los Angeles, as the Chargers already find themselves in last place in the AFC West after September. Things looked good early for the Bolts 🗲 last week in Buffalo, as the team was facing a 0-3 start if they couldn’t beat the Bills. The Chargers forced five turnovers by Buffalo, with Chargers CB Tarheeb Still recording his first-ever forced fumble. Sadly, the Chargers fell apart, and the Bills handed them their third consecutive loss.

The defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks hit a bump in the road with last week’s STUNNING 33-31 loss to the previously winless Washington Commanders. The Seahawks, plagued by errors, committed three turnovers, faced two three-and-outs, and failed to reach the end zone late in the first half. Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba showcased his exceptional talent once again, amassing 128 yards and two touchdowns. He joined Hall of Famer Jerry Rice as the only players in NFL history to achieve at least 120 receiving yards and a touchdown in each of their team’s first three games of a season. Although Seattle outperformed Washington in total yards (437 to 258), first downs (28 to 17), and yards per play (6.8 to 4.0), its mistakes ultimately led to a road loss — an unusual outcome for a team coached by Mike Macdonald.

2026 MLB Wild Card Series presented by AbbVie | Television Schedule & Broadcasters

A slider that promotes NBC’s coverage of the 2026 MLB Wild Card Series, presented by AbbVie. (MLB.com)

| ⏵ Monday, September 28, 2026 (Press Release):

🟄 Highlights:
  • The 2026 MLB Postseason begins with the Wild Card Series, presented by AbbVie, and NBC Sports will provide wall-to-wall coverage of all four Wild Card Series.
  • The Wild Card Series matchups include: Red Sox vs. Yankees & White Sox vs. Astros in the American League, plus Phillies vs. Braves & Cubs vs. Padres in the National League.
  • The winners of the respective Wild Card Series will advance to the American League Division Series & National League Division Series, respectively.
  • Notable players set to play in the Wild Card Series include American League batting leader Yordan Alvarez, NL home run co-leader Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Kyle Schwarber.
  • Up to 12 games in the Wild Card round, with four games on Tuesday, four on Wednesday, and up to four on Thursday.

Hey, guys! Who is ready to see some October baseball unfold? The postseason has finally arrived, and we get things going this week with the best-of-three Wild Card series. The Wild Card Series is presented by AbbVie and will feature exclusive coverage on NBC Sports platforms, including NBC, Peacock, and NBCSN.

In this article, we will share information that you need ahead of this week’s Wild Card Series matchups. The information includes series-by-series breakdowns, broadcaster information, and a television schedule. With that in mind, let’s get into it! Enjoy!

🔘 ⮞ (NL #6) Phillies vs. (NL #3) Braves — Game 1 — Tuesday, 2:00 PM ET on NBC & Peacock:
Two-time MVP Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies (No. 6 seed) visit 2021 World Series champion Ozzie Albies and the NL East-champion Atlanta Braves (No. 3 seed) in Game 1 of the best-of-three Wild Card series on Tuesday, September 29 at 2:00 PM ET on NBC and Peacock. The Braves won the regular-season series 9-4, and that’s the main reason Atlanta won its first National League East title since the 2023 season. In three prior postseason meetings, Philadelphia has won all of them, highlighted by the Phillies’ upset of the Braves in the 1993 National League Championship Series.

Matt Vasgersian (play-by-play) will call the Phillies-Braves series, alongside former Braves pitcher CJ Nitkowski (analyst) and three-time MLB All-Star John Kruk (analyst), with Ashley ShahAhmadi (reporter) reporting from the field. During key moments, 2010 NL MVP Joey Votto will contribute with “Inside the Pitch” commentary.

Philadelphia comes limping into the postseason after beating Tampa Bay 7-3 on the final day of the regular season just to make the playoffs. Following an impressive 21-7 August, the Phillies posted a disappointing 10-14 record in September, including a four-game losing streak. The Phillies were tied for 29th in batting average in September (.226). Hopefully, Philadelphia can turn the page here in the postseason.

The Braves have not won a postseason series since the Braves captured the 2021 World Series five years ago. Now, they get another crack at Philadelphia, who has owned them come playoff time. Will Atlanta FINALLY be able to wrangle Philadelphia in a postseason series that matters? Braves P Chris Sale was excellent this year, posting a 2.16 ERA over 27 regular-season games.

🔘 ⮞ (AL #6) White Sox vs. (AL #3) Astros — Game 1 — Tuesday, 5:00 PM ET (4:00 PM CT) on Peacock & NBCSN:
Tuesday’s second matchup sees rookie star Munetaka Murakami and the Chicago White Sox (No. 6 seed) battle two-time World Series champion Jose Altuve and the Houston Astros (No. 3 seed) in the opening game of this best-of-three Wild Card series on Tuesday, September 29 at 5:00 PM ET on Peacock and NBCSN. The White Sox and Astros, of course, famously met in the 2005 World Series, in which the White Sox swept the Astros in four games. Then, in 2021, the teams met in the ALDS, where the Astros defeated the White Sox 3-1.

Tuesday’s White Sox-Astros Game 1 will be seen on Peacock and NBCSN, described by play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy, analyst and 1980 AL Cy Young Award winner Steve Stone, analyst and 2005 World Series champion Geoff Blum, “Inside the Pitch” analyst Adam Ottavino, and reporter Britney Eurton.

Plenty of White Sox hitters will be making their postseason debuts. Can the White Sox figure it out in October? Since the beginning of August, Munetaka Murakami (.154) and Colson Montgomery (.158) have among the lowest batting averages in Major League Baseball. Murakami, though, exceeded expectations, smashing 35 home runs.

As the playoffs begin, Yordan Alvarez will once again be under the microscope. For several weeks, it looked like Alvarez was trapped in the basement. Over the past 11 games, though, Alvarez has been able to wake up and help the Astros with their push towards the AL West title. Alvarez entered Sunday’s game vs. the Athletics with a .400 batting average and four home runs.

🔘 ⮞ (AL #5) Red Sox vs. (AL #4) Yankees — Game 1 — Tuesday, 8:00 PM ET on NBC & Peacock:
Just like in 2025, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees are facing off in a best-of-three Wild Card Series. On Tuesday, September 29, Ceddanne Rafaela and the Boston Red Sox face Paul Goldschmidt and the New York Yankees in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York, at 8:00 PM ET on NBC and Peacock. Of course, two of the most storied franchises in baseball met in the playoffs last season.

NBC Sports’ Jason Benetti leads the Red Sox-Yankees Wild Card Series broadcast team, alongside four-time World Series champion Joe Girardi and former Red Sox infielder Lou Merloni. Additionally, Anthony Rizzo will join the broadcast for “Inside the Pitch” commentary, and reporter Caroline Pineda handles on-field reporting throughout the series.

The Yankees went 7-6 vs. the Red Sox during the season, including 4-2 at Yankee Stadium, where the Wild Card Series is being played. Will Aaron Judge play during this series? The Yankees captain missed significant time in the regular season this year due to rib and calf injuries. New York NEEDS Judge in a big-time way if the Yankees want to advance in the playoffs.

🔘 ⮞ (NL #5) Cubs vs. (NL #4) Padres — Game 1 — Tuesday, 10:00 PM ET (7:00 PM PT) on Peacock & NBCSN:
To wrap up the first day of the playoffs, Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres (No. 4 seed) host NL MVP candidate Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs (No. 5 seed) on Tuesday, September 29 at 10:00 PM ET/7:00 PM PT on Peacock and NBCSN. For the second straight season, the Cubs and Padres are paired in the Wild Card Series.

In the broadcast booth, Dave Flemming (play-by-play) joins former Padres pitcher Mark Grant (analyst) and 12-year MLB pitcher Jim Deshaies (analyst) to work the Cubs-Padres Wild Card Series. Clayton Kershaw (analyst) adds his perspective from the field via “Inside the Pitch,” and John Fanta (reporter) will provide insights throughout the series.

The Cubs posted a 5-1 mark vs. the Padres in 2026 regular-season meetings, winning two of three in San Diego in April, followed by a three-game sweep at Wrigley Field from late June to early July. The final matchup was a 23-3 Cubs demolition.

Pete Crow-Armstrong, of course, is a major key to a series win for the Cubs. The presumptive NL MVP finished tied for the National League with 45 homers. One swing of the stick at a crucial moment could be game-changing.

Following the series openers on Tuesday, the Wild Card Series will continue on Wednesday with four Game 2 contests across NBC, Peacock, and NBCSN. If necessary, Thursday can see up to four do-or-die Game 3 contests in the Wild Card Series.
