- One of the top Summer Series announcing teams during the mid-to-late ’90s gets back together for one day only, as Stacey Dandridge, Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Grant Hill, & Susan McDermott call Pacers vs. Suns on Thursday, July 9 at 5:30 PM (ET) on Peacock and NBCSN.
“I was really excited to continue our 50th anniversary celebration with our second summer throwback broadcast,” said Tamir Moore, a longtime NBA Summer Series play-by-play commentator and sideline reporter (2010-present). “Last week, Terry (Gannon) and Robin (Roberts) reunited in the booth. Now, Stacey, Grant, and Susan are coming together again for this upcoming throwback game. I hope many will tune in on July 9 for this special event.”
“I can’t believe I’m calling my first Summer Series game in nearly 30 years,” said Stacey Dandridge, former NBA Summer Series play-by-play announcer (1990-1998). “Thanks to NBC Sports and the NBA Summer Series for giving me the chance to return to the booth. Doing this with Hall of Famer Grant Hill and Summer Series legend Susan McDermott makes it even more meaningful.”
“Man, let’s go! Calling a game with Stacey and Susan again is so exciting to me,” said Grant Hill, NBA Summer Series game analyst (1993-1999, 2025-present). “When we called that Jazz-Spurs playoff game in 1998, we thought we’d never work together again. Now, 28 years later, we get to reminisce and broadcast one more game together. July 9 can’t come soon enough.”
Dandridge called NBA Summer Series games from 1990 to 1998. In 1999, Dandridge retired from sports broadcasting. Dandridge now serves as a pastor in the local Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area.
Hill, the seven-time NBA All-Star, began his broadcasting career as a game analyst for the Summer Series from 1993-1999, primarily working with Dandridge. Then, in 2000, Hill reduced his Summer Series work to select games. Hill called selected game matchups between 2000-2004. Grant returned to calling games full-time in 2025, following a 25-year absence.
McDermott, of course, is an NBA Summer Series legend! McDermott worked the sidelines for Summer Series broadcasts for a remarkable 34 years (1990-2023). Susan retired following the 2023 season to spend more time with family, but is returning for this game.
Earlier this week, the Summer Series had its first throwback broadcast as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration. Commentators Terry Gannon and Robin Roberts reunited to call a Trail Blazers-Heat game on July 4. For more information on that, please click the provided link.
Additional throwback broadcasts are planned for the remainder of the summer, including a reunion of Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy, and Mark Jackson; Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller reuniting; Curtis Stockley, Jermaine Samuels Jr., and Justin Moore; plus Tamir Moore hanging out with some former broadcast partners.
Pregame coverage for Pacers-Suns begins with “NBA Showtime presented by Popeyes” at 5:00 PM (ET) on Peacock and NBCSN with host Ahmed Fareed, Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Chris Webber, 2023 NBA Champion DeAndre Jordan, and NBA veteran RJ Barrett. Dandridge, Hill, and McDermott are scheduled to appear on the program. Following Pacers-Suns, stay tuned for “NBA Showtime presented by Popeyes” featuring the same studio team at 7:30 PM (ET).
