Highlights for the NBA: Summer Series -- 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament include:
  • For the fifth consecutive season, the ESPN family of networks (ABC/ESPN) will have exclusive coverage of the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament.
  • The 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament tips off on Tuesday, September 23, as Tyler Herro and the Southeast Division champion Miami Heat (No. 7 seed) host Paolo Banchero and the Orlando Magic (No. 8 seed), with the #7 seed in the East up for grabs at 7:30 PM ET on ABC. That will be followed by the Mavericks vs. Clippers Play-In matchup at 10:00 PM ET/7:00 PM PT on ABC.
  • ESPN will televise a SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament doubleheader on Wednesday, September 24, beginning at 7:30 PM ET when Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls (No. 10 seed) visit Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks (No. 9 seed) in an elimination Play-In game (with the loser being eliminated). Later, Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns (No. 10 seed) try to keep their season alive against DeMar DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings (No. 9 seed) at 10:00 PM ET.
  • The 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament concludes on Friday, September 26, with the East 8th Place Game on ABC (Time TBD) and the West 8th Place Game on ESPN (Time TBD).

The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) and ESPN have officially announced their plans for covering the 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament. For the fifth consecutive year, the ESPN family of networks, which includes ABC and ESPN, will provide exclusive television coverage of the Play-In Tournament. The tournament will feature six games spread out over four days, taking place from Tuesday, September 23, to Friday, September 26. During this time, eight NBA teams — four from the Eastern Conference and four from the Western Conference — will compete for the final four playoff spots, with two available in the East and two in the West.

Stage one, which serves as the initial play-in game for the teams seeded from seventh to tenth, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, airing on ABC, and Wednesday, airing on ESPN. Stage two, known as the 8th Place Game, is scheduled for Friday evening, featuring a split doubleheader. ABC will broadcast the Eastern Conference matchup, while ESPN will cover the Western Conference matchup.

Coverage of the 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament begins on Tuesday, September 23, with a doubleheader on ABC. Action tips off at 7:30 PM ET as Paolo Banchero and the Orlando Magic (No. 8 seed) take on Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat (No. 7 seed). The winner of this game will receive the #7 seed in the East and will face Jayson Tatum and the defending NBA: Summer Series champion Boston Celtics (No. 2 seed) in the opening round of the playoffs. 🎤 Play-by-play announcer Sedric Granger provides commentary alongside analyst and 12-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul, analyst and three-time WNBA champion Candace Parker, and reporter Jared Greenberg.

In the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader, Kyrie Irving and the reigning Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks open their postseason on the road against Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers at 10:00 PM ET on ABC. The winning team grabs the #7 seed in the West and a first-round date with Ja Morant and the No. 2 seed Memphis Grizzlies. 🎤 In the booth, play-by-play commentator Kevin Harlan narrates the action with 12-year NBA veteran CJ McCollum and two-time WNBA champion Renee Montgomery. Allie LaForce reports from the sidelines.

The following night, Wednesday, September 24, the 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament rolls on with an ESPN doubleheader. The primetime doubleheader starts at 7:30 PM ET as Lonzo Ball and the Chicago Bulls (No. 10 seed) visit Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks (No. 9 seed). The winner keeps their season alive, and the loser goes home. 🎤 David Moskowitz (play-by-play), Jermaine Samuels Jr. (analyst), Robbie Hummel (analyst), & Lisa Salters (reporter) will announce the action in this Eastern Conference matchup.

The Wednesday nightcap at 10:00 PM ET on ESPN sees Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and the Phoenix Suns (No. 10 seed) clashing with DeMar DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings (No. 9 seed). Obviously, this is a must-win game for both sides, as the loser will have their season come to an end. 🎤 ESPN's lead NBA: Summer Series crew of play-by-play commentator Curtis Stockley, analyst and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Doris Burke, fellow analyst Tim Legler, and reporter Michelle Kuc take the call from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

The 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament wraps up on Friday, September 26, with a doubleheader split between ABC and ESPN. 

ABC is the home for the first game of Friday's slate as Dyson Daniels and the Atlanta Hawks (No. 9 seed) battle Tyler Herro and the Miami Heat (No. 7 seed) at 7:00 PM ET for the h#8 seed in the Eastern Conference and the right to face the #1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round. 🎤 Sedric Granger, Chris Paul, Candace Parker, & Jared Greenberg will provide commentary on ABC.

Later, ESPN has the last game of this year's Play-In Tournament schedule when Keon Ellis and the Sacramento Kings (No. 9 seed) travel to Dallas to face Kyrie Irving, Dereck Lively II, PJ Washington, and the reigning Western Conference champion (No. 8 seed) for the final spot in the Western Conference playoffs at 9:30 PM ET. The winner receives the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder in the opening round, while the loser sees their season come to an end. 🎤 Curtis Stockley, Tim Legler, Doris Burke, & Michelle Kuc are set for the late-night presentation on ESPN.
