  • With the 2025 NBA: Summer Series season roughly two months away from starting, we are pleased to announce the full commentator lineup for this year's Summer Series coverage on ABC and ESPN!
  • A Fresh Start: ESPN debuts a brand new lead commentary team for 2025Ten-year NBA veteran Tim Legler and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Doris Burke join Curtis Stockley and Michelle Kuc to commentate on the top regular season and playoff games.
  • Inclusion of New Voices: Several people who have shaped the fabric of the game of basketball will join the Summer Series broadcasting family this year, including Naismith Basketball Hall of Famers Tamika Catchings, Vince Carter, Dwyane Wadeformer Baylor standout King McClureand three-time WNBA champion Diana Taurasi.
  • Miles Johnson leads ESPN and ABC's studio coverage for the third consecutive season, re-joined by the returning two-time NBA All-Star and insider Chris Haynes, with Wade and another Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo.
  • The well-known "Inside the NBAteam, featuring Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kenny Smith, return to lead one of the studio groups this year (they previously served as one the Summer Series studio teams for nearly two decades, from 2003 through 2022).

Hi, everyone! I am thrilled to announce the game and studio announcers for the upcoming 2025 NBA Summer Series season, which begins on Tuesday, June 3. This marks the 23rd consecutive year that ABC and ESPN have held exclusive broadcasting rights to the NBA Summer Series. There are NINE Naismith Basketball Hall of Famers that will be contributing to ESPN's NBA: Summer Series coverage this year, including Reggie Miller, Grant Hill, Rebecca Lobo, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal, Vince Carter, Tamika Catchings, Doris Burke and Dwyane Wade.

In addition to the ten broadcast teams that you see listed on your screen, additional play-by-play announcers, game analysts, & sideline reporters will be used throughout the season.

Curtis Stockley, who has called the previous six NBA Finals presented by YouTube TV, will continue as the lead play-by-play announcer for the seventh consecutive season. Additionally, play-by-play announcers Kate Scott, Brian Anderson, Kevin Harlan, and Mike Breen will return to call the Summer Series broadcasts. ESPN play-by-play commentator Beth Mowins will also rejoin the NBA Summer Series announcing team after a two-year absence. This year, NBC Sports host and announcer Mike Tirico, Minnesota Timberwolves play-by-play commentator Michael Grady, and rising broadcasting star Sedric Granger, will debut as play-by-play voices.

Doris Burke continues her groundbreaking journey as a top-tier NBA analyst. In 2025, she will make history as the first female lead game analyst in Summer Series history. Burke begins her 20th season as a game analyst, having previously worked from 1997 to 2014, and returning last season. She will be joined in the lead commentary team by fellow analyst and sharpshooter Tim Legler, who played for ten seasons in the NBA. They will also have the returning play-by-play commentator Curtis Stockley and sideline reporter Michelle Kuc.

In addition to Burke and Legler, several returning game analysts will participate in Summer Series broadcasting during the 2025 season. These include Hall of Famer Reggie Miller, three-time WNBA champion Candace Parker, two-time WNBA champion Breanna Stewart, NBA champion Jayson Tatum [who will not be calling games this year], former Villanova standout Jermaine Samuels Jr., former Tennessee standout Andraya Carter, and 11-year NBA veteran CJ McCollum.

2016 NBA champion Richard Jefferson is returning as a game analyst after a two-year hiatus in 2023 and 2024.

The 2025 Summer Series will also feature several new faces among the game analysts, including former WNBA All-Star Renee Montgomery, three-time WNBA champion Diana Taurasi, Hall of Famer Grant Hill, former Baylor standout King McClure, four-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala, and former Purdue standout Robbie Hummel.

- NOTE: 12-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul will replace Jayson Tatum for this season (Achilles recovery). 

Sideline reporters:

Veteran NBA on ESPN sideline reporters Michelle Kuc, Susan Reutter and Shalise Coleman carry on with their assignments surronding marquee NBA games and events throughout the regular season and the NBA Playoffs. Lisa Salters, Jorge Sedano, Jacob Hardie, Jared Greenberg, Allie LaForce, Miles Thornton, and Larissa Lomax, all of whom have joined ESPN's sideline reporting team either this season or last season, will also serve as sideline reporters.

Studio hosts:
Host Miles Johnson is returning to lead ESPN's pregame and postgame coverage for the third consecutive season. This year, during editions of "NBA Countdown" and "NBA: After the Buzzer" on ABC and ESPN, Johnson will be joined by two-time NBA All-Star Tyrese Haliburton (later replaced by 2025 NBA Champion Shai Gilgeous-Alexander), Hall of Famers Dwyane Wade and Rebecca Lobo, and ESPN Senior NBA Insider Chris Haynes.

Johnson will primarily host on weekends, focusing on NBA Saturday Primetime and NBA Sunday Showcase on ABC, which are the network's two signature weekend regular season packages. Additionally, he will handle play-by-play duties for select games throughout the season.

Malika Andrews will continue as the secondary studio host for the third straight season. If Johnson is unable to host on certain nights, Andrews will fill in for him. She will lead ESPN's versions of "NBA Countdown" and "NBA: After the Buzzer" on Wednesdays and Fridays during the season. On these programs, Andrews will be joined by three-time Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford, ESPN and New York Knicks analyst Monica McNutt, two-time Executive of the Year Bob Myers, former Villanova standout Justin Moore (regular appearances), and insider Shams Charania.

Other studio hosts for Summer Series coverage in 2025, in addition to Andrews and Johnson, include the legendary Ernie Johnson, who begins his 26th year with the Summer Series, Sam Prince in his second year, and Adam Lefkoe in his fifth season.

Studio analysts:
ESPN boasts a robust lineup of studio analysts for NBA Summer Series action throughout the 2025 regular season and postseason. Leading the analysis will be Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton, three-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade, and Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo, alongside host Miles Johnson.

Analysts Monica McNutt, Jamal Crawford, and Bob Myers will also contribute during the season with Malika Andrews hosting. Additionally, analyst Justin Moore, who previously served as a game analyst, is transitioning to a studio analyst role and will have a regular schedule of studio shows this season.

Hall of Famer and four-time NBA champion Shaquille O'Neal begins his 23rd season as a Summer Series studio analyst. O'Neal will regularly appear on Thursday editions of "NBA Countdown" and "NBA: After the Buzzer" alongside his fellow "Inside the NBA" cast members Charles Barkley, who is in his 21st season, Kenny Smith, who is in his 26th season, and host Ernie Johnson, also in his 26th season. Notably, the "Inside the NBA" crew embarks on their 21st season together, making it the longest-serving studio team in NBA: Summer Series history.

Chiney Ogwumike, the 2014 WNBA Draft #1 overall pick, returns for her sixth season as a studio analyst (having previously served from 2017-19 and since 2023). She is joined by three-time WNBA champion Chelsea Gray and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Vince Carter, who are both part of the NBA Summer Series team for the first time, to provide coverage of Summer Series basketball in 2025. They will support host Adam Lefkoe on Tuesday editions of "NBA Countdown" and "NBA: After the Buzzer".

Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings brings her unique perspective to the Summer Series as a studio analyst for the first time. Catchings will participate in Monday airings of "NBA Countdown" and "NBA: After the Buzzer," alongside fellow analysts 2016 National Champion Kris Jenkins and three-time NBA champion Danny Green. Sam Prince, returning for his third season, will serve as the studio host.

Insiders:
NBA insider Chris Haynes will return as the lead insider for the NBA: Summer Series for the third consecutive year in 2025. He will frequently appear on "NBA Countdown" and "NBA: After the Buzzer" throughout the season, providing viewers with the latest news and updates from around the NBA. The insider roster for 2025, alongside Haynes, includes Shams Charania, Stephanie Ready, Taylor Rooks, and Dave McMenamin.
