🟆 Highlights:
  • Baseball Night in America” returns to Fox on Saturday, June 6, with a special 7:30 PM ET start time. The Guardians square off against the Rangers in the middle game of the three-game weekend series.
  • Legends In The Booth: Three vital members of the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry — Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz & Derek Jeter — will be calling Saturday’s Red Sox-Yankees game alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt.
  • Rivalry Renewed: Jarren Duren and the Boston Red Sox visit Jazz Chisholm Jr. and the New York Yankees in the latest chapter of this storied rivalry on Saturday, June 6, at 7:30 PM ET on Fox.
  • Lone Star State Tussle: Brandon Nimmo and the Texas Rangers host Brayan Rocchio and the Cleveland Guardians in this American League matchup on Saturday, June 6, at 7:30 PM ET (6:30 PM CT) on Fox.
  • Just Fox games for this week. FS1 is off this Saturday and will not be showing MLB Saturday games again until mid-July.

One of baseball’s best rivalries takes center stage this weekend on “Baseball Night in America” as Trent Grisham and the New York Yankees (36-25) host Caleb Durbin and the Boston Red Sox (26-34) in another chapter of the historic Yankees-Red Sox series on Saturday, June 6, at 7:30 PM ET on Fox, highlighting Fox Sports’ two-game Major League Baseball coverage for this week.

A few housekeeping notes before we go any further. First, FS1 isn’t airing a Saturday game this week, so we will only be covering the Big Fox games for this week’s “MLB on Fox: On Deck” article. And secondly, we learned on Wednesday that Fox has chosen to drop their regional coverage for next Saturday (June 13) to televise some FIFA World Cup rematches. As a result, there will be NO “MLB on Fox: On Deck” article for next week. An early heads up for you guys there.

With that in mind, let’s talk about Saturday’s Guardians-Rangers contest.

“Baseball Night in America”: Red Sox vs. Yankees or Guardians vs. Rangers — Saturday, 7:30 PM ET on Fox:
Baseball Night in America, Fox Sports’ weekly MLB primetime series, continues on Saturday, June 6, with a primetime matchup at 7:30 PM ET on Fox. This week, the entire country will watch the Cleveland Guardians visit the Texas Rangers as a result of Saturday’s Red Sox-Yankees rainout.

Red Sox vs. Yankees:
Longtime American League rivals clash again as Wilyer Abreu and the Boston Red Sox (26-34) face Ben Rice and the New York Yankees (36-25) on Saturday, June 6, at 7:30 PM ET on Fox. As a special treat, Fox Sports is assigning its lead studio team of Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play), World Series champion Alex Rodriguez (analyst), Hall of Famers Derek Jeter (analyst) & David Ortiz (analyst) to call this game. As you know, Rodriguez, Jeter & Ortiz are three members of this transcendent Red Sox-Yankees rivalry.

This is a crucial part of the Red Sox’s schedule as they try to catch some fire 🔥 before the summer. Boston is currently 10.5 GB behind the Rays for first place in the AL East and 3.5 GB behind the Athletics for the third Wild Card spot in the American League. Boston is in the middle of a three-series stretch vs. AL East rivals (the Orioles currently, the Yankees this weekend, and the division-leading Rays early next week). On Wednesday night, they crushed the Orioles 8-1 at Fenway Park, behind three RBI from RF Wilyer Abreu and three hits from CF Ceddanne Rafela. Can Boston get things cooking before the All-Star Break?

For the Yankees, it’s the same old mantra every year — “World Series or BUST”. And so far in 2026, the Yankees are showing that they are a contender out in the American League. New York is trying to keep pace with first-place Tampa Bay in the American League East (1 GB as of Wednesday, June 3). Yankees 1B Ben Rice leads the team in runs scored (46) and runs batted in (44). Plus, Rice is tied with Yankees slugger Aaron Judge for the team lead with 17 home runs. However, the Yankees are in a funk, having dropped the first two games of their series against the Guardians. New York dropped a 5-4 decision to Cleveland on Wednesday night, despite Rice’s (one run, one hit) and 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s (one run, one hit, on RBI) best efforts.

Guardians vs. Rangers — Saturday, 7:30 PM ET on Fox:
José Ramírez and the American League Central-leading Cleveland Guardians (36-27) visit Joc Pederson and the Texas Rangers (30-32) on Saturday, June 6, at 7:30 PM ET (6:30 PM CT local) on Fox. Fox Sports’ Kenny Albert (play-by-play) and Eric Karros (analyst) provide commentary for Guardians-Rangers from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Do you guys remember Cleveland’s remarkable second-half surge to SNATCH the AL Central away from the Tigers last year? In case you missed it, Cleveland trailed by 15.5 GB in the division in early July. Then the Guardians heated up, posting a 20-7 September record, and somehow won a division championship they probably should not have won. Cleveland doesn’t need to worry about it in 2026, as the Guardians hold a 2.5 GB lead over the White Sox for the top spot in the American League Central. Home runs from José Ramírez (9), Rhys Hoskins (6), and Kyle Manzardo (7) fueled Cleveland’s 5-4 win over the Yankees on Wednesday, giving them the series victory with Thursday’s series finale still to come.

The Rangers have shown signs of life recently. Before Wednesday’s 5-3 loss to the Cardinals, the Rangers strung together five consecutive wins as they aim to track down the Athletics for the last Wild Card spot and the Mariners for first place in the American League West. Two major contributors for the Rangers are third baseman Josh Jung and first baseman Jake Burger. Burger leads the team in runs (30) and runs batted in (37). As for Jung, he leads the club in hits (67) and doubles (16). The Rangers try to reach the .500 mark (with wins on Friday and Saturday) and even surpass it (with a series sweep) during this Guardians series.

  1. Yankees vs. Red Sox on a Saturday night never gets old. ⚾🔥

The records may be different this year, but rivalry games always have a way of ignoring the standings. Add Jeter, A-Rod, and Ortiz to the broadcast, and you've got must-watch baseball. Looking forward to seeing if Boston can build some momentum or if the Yankees remind everyone why they're World Series contenders.

    1. @Shift Unfortunately, the game got rained out. Hopefully, they get another chance to call a MLB regular season game. The Red Sox do play the Yankees again in New York on Saturday, August 29. So maybe run it back then and hope for much better weather.
