For the second straight year, ESPN is proud to broadcast the "Summer Showcase" - the annual NBA: Summer Series event that spotlights the biggest and brightest NBA stars and franchises - on Wednesday, August 6. Additionally, several platforms are set to carry the action, including ABC, ESPN, ESPN+ & Disney+.
"Summer Showcase" Games:
Game coverage starts at 12:00 PM ET when Victor Wembanyama, making his "Summer Showcase" debut, leads his San Antonio Spurs against Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks in an interconference showdown. Kate Scott calls the action on ABC and ESPN alongside analyst and three-time WNBA Champion Diana Taurasi and reporter Matthew Thomas. Coverage of Spurs vs. Knicks can also be found on ESPN Radio, with John Schriffen (play-by-play), former Tennessee standout Dane Bradshaw (analyst), & multi-sport journalist Stormy Buonantony (reporter) providing commentary.
Action resumes at 2:30 PM ET as Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves battle Kyrie Irving and the defending Western Conference champions Dallas Mavericks. On ABC and ESPN, Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Mike Breen serves as the play-by-play announcer, joined by analyst and former Tennessee standout Andraya Carter and reporter Susan Reutter. Also, catch the Timberwolves vs. Mavericks game live on ESPN Radio, featuring the commentary team of Kevin Brown (play-by-play), P.J. Carlesimo (analyst), & Alexis Davis (reporter).
At 5:00 PM ET, Paul George and the Philadelphia 76ers travel to Boston for Eastern Conference play vs. Jaylen Brown and the defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics. Play-by-play commentator David Moskowitz, analyst Jermaine Samuels Jr., & reporter Lisa Salters create ABC and ESPN's broadcast team for the matchup. Additionally, ESPN Radio will transmit audio coverage of 76ers vs. Celtics to a national audience. Mike Couzens narrates the action from TD Garden in Boston, working with five-time NBA champion Derek Fisher (analyst) and reporter Jacob Moreno, who will be making his NBA: Summer Series commentary debut.
Two future Hall of Famers share the spotlight again as LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers duel with Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors at 8:00 PM ET. Lead NBA on ESPN play-by-play commentator Curtis Stockley is assigned play-by-play duties for ABC and ESPN's coverage of Lakers vs. Warriors, joined by the analyst duo of Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Doris Burke and Tim Legler. Michelle Kuc reports from the sidelines. ESPN Radio will also be on hand for the Lakers vs. Warriors game. Veteran host & play-by-play announcer Curt Menefee (play-by-play), 2025 NBA Rookie of the Year winner Stephon Castle (analyst), nine-time NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook (analyst), & Brion Harris (reporter) — making his first ever NBA: Summer Series broadcasting appearance on the radio — serve as ESPN Radio's broadcast team for the Western Conference battle.
In the "Summer Showcase" nightcap at 10:30 PM ET on ABC and ESPN, Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets play Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns in a game that sees two stars who have captured NBA championships. Michael Grady and Richard Jefferson describe the action from courtside on ABC and ESPN, with reporter Jacob Hardie. ESPN Radio has exclusive rights to audio coverage of Nuggets vs. Suns. Jason Ross Jr. (play-by-play), Rosalyn Gold-Onwude (analyst), & Anthony Slater (reporter) are on the ESPN Radio call for Nuggets vs. Suns.
NBA Countdown and NBA: After the Buzzer:
To begin with, NBA Countdown presented by Cinnabon precedes the full "Summer Showcase" lineup with a special one-hour edition from 11:00 AM ET to 12:00 PM ET on ESPN. Miles Johnson serves as the host of "NBA Countdown", alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dwyane Wade, Rebecca Lobo, and Chris Haynes. The show will lead into the Spurs vs. Knicks game at 12:00 PM (ET) on ABC, ESPN, ESPN+, & Disney+. Additionally, NBA Countdown presented by Panera Bread will air from 7:30 PM (ET) to 8:00 PM (ET) on ABC, leading into the Lakers vs. Warriors game.
During the two "NBA Countdown" shows on Wednesday, pre-recorded interviews will be shown as Johnson interviews Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Lakers forward LeBron James, Spurs forward/center Victor Wembanyama, & Knicks guard Jalen Brunson.
