Hello, everyone! Welcome to the Week #11 edition of NBA: Summer Series — Full Court Press! This week, we’ll preview the 27 national games scheduled for broadcast across various streaming and linear platforms, including ABC (9 games), ESPN (2 games), NBC/Peacock (9 games), and Prime Video (7 games). Seven-time NBA All-Star Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers (17-16) visit 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs (23-8) on Monday, August 24 at 8:00 PM ET/7:00 PM CT on NBC and Peacock.
NBC Sports’ Michael Grady (play-by-play), Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Grant Hill (analyst) & Zora Stephenson (reporter) will call Cavaliers-Spurs from FrostBank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell ranks fourth in the NBA with 30.2 PPG. Cleveland is coming off a 117-100 loss to the Houston Rockets on Sunday night. The Cavaliers enter this week 8th in the Eastern Conference, which would put them in the Play-In Tournament if the season were to end today.
Meanwhile, San Antonio is establishing themselves as a legitimate contender out in the Western Conference. After years of struggle and frustration, the Spurs have vaulted back into the top tier of the conference, as San Antonio seeks its first playoff berth since 2019 (before COVID-19 even existed). Of course, having Wemby protect the paint and score the basketball is an added bonus for the Spurs. The Spurs hold the No. 2 seed in the West, 3.5 GB behind the conference-leading Thunder (against whom San Antonio is 3-0 this season, including a pair of wins last week).
⮞ Mavericks (12-21) vs. Trail Blazers (13-19) — Monday, 10:30 PM ET on NBC and Peacock:
In Monday’s second game, 2025 top draft pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks (12-21) battle 2020 No. 9 overall pick Deni Avdija and the Portland Trail Blazers (13-19) on Monday, August 24 at 10:30 PM ET/7:30 PM PT on NBC and Peacock.
NBC Sports’ Terry Gannon (play-by-play) provides commentary for Mavericks-Trail Blazers, with Austin Rivers (Mavericks bench) and Jamal Crawford (Trail Blazers bench) serving as “On The Bench” analysts. Monday’s Mavericks-Trail Blazers game will showcase “On the Bench” coverage, an innovative production approach by NBC Sports. This format assigns one analyst to each team, placing them courtside to fully engage with the action and provide real-time insights directly from the bench. This will be the first use of this new format on NBC.
Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg (rookie) recently put on a dazzling display last Thursday vs. the Warriors, scoring 27 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists, despite Dallas eventually dropping the contest. The spotlight is on the 19-year-old rookie sensation as the Mavericks continue their push towards a Play-In spot in the Western Conference.

NBA All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey (16-14), one of the top scorers in the league, leads the Philadelphia 76ers as they continue their five-game road trip in Memphis against Jaylen Wells and the Memphis Grizzlies (15-17) on Tuesday, August 25 at 8:00 PM ET/7:00 PM CT on NBC and Peacock.
NBC Sports’ Noah Eagle (play-by-play) calls 76ers-Grizzlies from FedEx Forum in Memphis, joined by former NBA player Robbie Hummel (analyst) and Ashley ShahAhmadi (reporter).
Tyrese Maxey has been on a tear lately, as the 76ers guard has scored 27 or more points in five of his previous six games. They need to continue to pour in the buckets, as Philly tries to halt a three-game losing streak against the Grizzlies on the road.
Following a miserable 4-11 start, the Grizzlies have played back into Western Conference postseason conversation with a 11-6 record over their last 17 games.

NBC Sports’ Mark Followill (play-by-play) teams up with Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Reggie Miller (analyst) and Grant Liffmann (reporter) to call Pistons-Lakers from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
The East’s top seed Pistons finish a five-game road swing out West with Tuesday’s game vs. the Lakers. Pistons G Cade Cunningham is having a great year, with career-best highs of 26.5 PPG, 6.3 RPG, and 9.6 APG. However, Detroit is facing pressure because Josh Hart and the Knicks are quickly closing in on the No. 1 seed if Detroit stumbles at any point.
Lakers F LeBron James has been matched up against a variety of opponents throughout his remarkable 23-year NBA run. Still, the one opponent that LeBron is simply defying the odds against is Father Time. “I’m in a battle with him,” James said. “And I would like to say I’m kicking his *** on the back nine.” James’ outstanding basketball play this season is receiving praise from teammates and coaches. “I never take it for granted,” said Lakers head coach JJ Redick. “He puts his handprint and fingerprints all over the game every single night.”

These teams are meeting for the first time since the Emirates NBA Cup Championship Game on August 11, 15 days before Wednesday’s matchup.

ABC’s Saturday Celtics-Clippers game will be called by veteran sports announcer Ryan Ruocco (play-by-play), former Villanova standout Jermaine Samuels Jr. (analyst), and respected reporter Katie George (sidelines).
2024 NBA Champion Jaylen Brown has played like an MVP thus far this season. The Celtics are benefiting from this, as Boston finds themselves in playoff contention after a terrible 0-3 start to the season. Boston is aiming for their 12th consecutive playoff appearance.
As for the Clippers, LA is facing a do-or-die moment as the squad tries to power themselves into contention following an abysmal 7-21 start. The clock ⏰ is ticking, as the Clippers are almost at a crossroads. LA has made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. A win on Saturday against a potent Celtics team would be a W that the Clippers could certainly use at this time.
