ESPN once again serves as the exclusive home for the NBA’s annual Summer “holiday,” the Summer Showcase, now in its third season in 2026. On Thursday, August 20, ESPN and fellow Disney platforms will serve up 14 consecutive hours of uninterrupted NBA coverage, with a riveting five-game lineup presented by State Farm on ABC, ESPN, ESPN Radio, and the ESPN App.
Summer Showcase Games:
Things get started at 12:00 PM ET when Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers visit 2024-25 Kia NBA Clutch Player of the Year Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks on ABC, ESPN, ESPN Radio, and the ESPN App. A pair of Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famers — Mike Breen (play-by-play) and Doris Burke (analyst) — will be on the call for the television broadcast (ABC/ESPN) Cavaliers-Knicks alongside reporter Lisa Salters. On ESPN Radio, Bob Wischusen (play-by-play) calls the action alongside analyst Diana Taurasi and reporter Shanece Williams.
At 2:30 PM ET, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs face off against reigning league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the defending NBA: Summer Series Champion Oklahoma City Thunder in a highly anticipated rematch from this year’s NBA Cup Semifinals after San Antonio snapped Oklahoma City’s 16-game winning streak. On ABC/ESPN, Kelvin Hutchinson provides play-by-play alongside former NBA head coach PJ Carlesimo and reporter Kristian Winfield. The ESPN Radio call of the Spurs-Thunder will be made by Karl Ravech (play-by-play), Dane Bradshaw (analyst), & Tyson Rogers (reporter).
A clash of rookie talent and star power takes center stage at 5:00 PM ET when 2025 top pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks battle four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors on ABC, ESPN, ESPN Radio, and the ESPN App. Dave Pasch calls the game with analyst Jay Bilas and Susan Reutter on ABC/ESPN. ESPN Radio will have the broadcast team of Mike Monaco (play-by-play), Sean Farnham (analyst), & Danielle Trotta (reporter).
Primetime has a game of former MVP’s and future Hall of Famers when two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant laces ’em up as his Houston Rockets play four-time NBA champion LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers at 8:00 PM ET on ABC, ESPN, ESPN Radio, and the ESPN App. In the ABC/ESPN broadcast booth, play-by-play commentator Curtis Stockley is joined by NBA champion Richard Jefferson and NBA veteran Tim Legler. Michelle Kuc reports from the sidelines. ESPN Radio provides live coverage of Rockets vs. Lakers, with Sean McDonough, seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry, Cory Alexander, and Shalise Coleman.
The Summer Showcase lineup concludes at 10:30 PM ET on ABC, ESPN, ESPN Radio, and the ESPN App when Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves square off against three-time MVP and current rebounds and assist leader Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets in a marquee matchup to wrap up the full Summer Showcase lineup. Tamir Moore and current Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White call Timberwolves-Nuggets on ABC/ESPN, with James Alexander reporting from courtside. The ESPN Radio broadcast will feature play-by-play announcer Roxy Bernstein, analyst and former WNBA player Layshia Clarendon, and rising broadcasting star Lathan Dunbar-Keys covering the sidelines.
NBA Tip-Off & Inside the NBA:
NBA Tip-Off presented by AT&T will officially get ESPN’s Summer Showcase coverage underway with a one-hour show beginning at 11:00 AM ET on ESPN and the ESPN App. Ernie Johnson Jr., Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O’Neal make their ABC/ESPN Summer Showcase debuts as they preview the day’s basketball lineup and offer their predictions ahead of the Cavaliers-Knicks game. Later in the evening, Inside the NBA, presented by Popeyes, will air at 7:30 PM (ET) on ABC, ESPN, and the ESPN App, with the legendary quartet sharing their thoughts and opinions before the Rockets-Lakers game. Additionally, Inside the NBA will handle halftime for ALL five Summer Showcase games.
Hoop Streams:
Hoop Streams, presented by State Farm, is ESPN’s digital NBA pregame show. Hosted by Vanessa Richardson and featuring Dave McMenamin and Marc J. Spears, it will stream live on ESPN’s YouTube channel and Facebook page at 7:30 PM (ET), just before the Houston Rockets take on the Los Angeles Lakers. Thursday’s Hoop Streams will be produced on-site from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
NBA Today — Summer Showcase Special:
ESPN will launch its Summer Showcase week of NBA coverage with the NBA Today: Summer Showcase Special, scheduled to air on Tuesday, August 18, from 2:00 PM ET to 4:00 PM ET on ESPN and the ESPN App. Malika Andrews will host the show, accompanied by Kendrick Perkins, Marc J. Spears, Monica McNutt, and Ramona Shelburne. This two-hour special promises top-notch storytelling, featuring six exclusive ESPN segments that unveil untold stories and offer unique insights across the league.
