Hello, everyone! Welcome to this week’s MLB on Fox: On Deck! The All-Star Break has concluded, and what an incredible All-Star Week Philadelphia hosted, featuring Monday’s Home Run Derby and Tuesday’s All-Star Game! Now, it’s time to shift focus as the second half of the 2026 MLB Season begins on Thursday evening. On Saturday, July 18, Fox will regionalize two games on “Baseball Night in America” starting at 8:00 PM ET — either Dodgers-Yankees or Giants-Mariners. Wondering which game you’ll see and who will call the action? Keep reading for the details.
“Baseball Night in America,” Fox Sports’ weekly MLB primetime series, returns on Saturday, July 18, with two regionalized matchups — Max Muncy and the Los Angeles Dodgers battle Trent Grisham and the New York Yankees or Luis Arraez and the San Francisco Giants clash with J.P. Crawford and the Seattle Mariners.
⮞ Dodgers vs. Yankees — Saturday, 8:00 PM ET on Fox:
A rematch of the 2024 World Series headlines this week’s Baseball Night in America lineup as Tommy Edman and the two-time defending MLB champion Los Angeles Dodgers (61-36) face off against Jasson Domínguez and the New York Yankees (54-42) in the second game of this eagerly awaited weekend series on Saturday, July 18, at 8:00 PM ET on Fox.
The defending two-time champion Dodgers entered the All-Star Break with an impressive 61-36 record, good enough for the best mark in the National League. However, Los Angeles was swept by the Diamondbacks in a three-game series before the Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia. One of the big stories in LA is that DH/P Shohei Ohtani recently had his knee drained of fluid, which will cause Ohtani to stick with DH duties for this series vs. the Yankees instead of his usual two-way responsibility. Of course, the Dodgers have the big goal — be the first club in 26 years (Yankees, 1998-2000) to win three consecutive World Series championships.
Can the Yankees extend their winning streak? They won their last four games before the break, closing the gap to just three games behind Junior Caminero and the Tampa Bay Rays, who are in first place. The Yankees previously split a four-game series with Tampa Bay in July. The Yankees start the second half of the year with a 54-42 record. It’s important to remember that Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge has been sidelined since early June due to a stress fracture in his rib, which poses a significant challenge for the team aiming for their first World Series title since 2009.
⮞ Giants vs. Mariners — Saturday, 8:00 PM ET on Fox:
Luis Arraez and the San Francisco Giants (41-55) face off against Josh Naylor and the Seattle Mariners (48-49) in the second game of their three-game weekend series at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, on Saturday, July 18, at 8:00 PM ET on Fox.
Safe to say, the 2026 Giants season has not gone according to plan. The Giants went 41-55 during the first half of the 2026 season. At this time, San Francisco is out of playoff contention, at least 10 GB behind either the division leader (Dodgers) or the last Wild Card club (Marlins). How will San Francisco approach the remainder of this season? We will find out soon enough. Things have started terribly for manager Tony Vitello in his first Major League campaign (after the Giants hired him straight from the University of Tennessee). San Francisco MUST cobble together a decent second half to extract any positives from this season, or major changes must be considered for this team.
Unfortunately, the Mariners have not been able to back up their deep 2025 playoff run, which saw them lose to the eventual AL champion Toronto Blue Jays in a seven-game ALCS series. Most people assumed that Seattle was going to be the clear-cut favorite in this AL West division. The Mariners have some unwelcome company as they must duel with the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers for the top spot in the AL West. Seattle entered the All-Star Break with an underwhelming 48-49 record. The Mariners face a troubling franchise outlook if they can’t find a path to postseason play in 2026.
