Furthermore, Tiffany Blackmon (Raptors) and Evan Washburn (Celtics) serve as sideline reporters, contributing insight from the sidelines throughout the season.
Saturday’s Celtics-Raptors game is part of the Summer Series’ season-long promotion to celebrate the program’s historic 50th season on the air. Celtics vs. Raptors is the seventh of 16 throwback broadcasts planned throughout the summer months.
From 1994-1999, Harlan, Houston, and Lue called games together side-by-side, getting assigned regular-season and postseason broadcasts during this time period. This pairing called their last game together on October 1, 1999, when they described Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks. Saturday marks the first broadcast since then that Harlan, Houston, & Lue are working together as a broadcast team.
Earlier in the week, Prime Video was proud to air another throwback broadcast, with this one featuring Jim Nantz, Bill Raftery, Danny Ainge, and Jayne Kennedy. Additional information about that throwback broadcast can be found by using this link.
Here are bios for each NBA: Summer Series commentator involved in this throwback broadcast:
Kevin Harlan — Play-By-Play:
Veteran sports commentator Kevin Harlan takes play-by-play duties for Saturday’s Celtics-Raptors game. Harlan is a veteran of basketball broadcasting, having spent 40 years calling NBA games both nationally and locally, including stints with the Kansas City Kings (1982-85), Minnesota Timberwolves (1989-98), and Turner Sports (1996-2025). Harlan is currently calling NBA games for Prime Video, having joined them in 2025 after Turner lost their rights to cover NBA games.
Also, Harlan is an experienced NFL announcer, having worked NFL broadcasts for 41 seasons (1985-present). Right now, Kevin works for CBS Sports, calling games for “NFL on CBS,” along with a dual role as Westwood One Sports’ lead NFL radio play-by-play person. Kevin began calling NFL games for CBS in 1998, and started his Westwood One work in 2010. Before that, Harlan spent nine seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs on the radio side (1983-95) and has experience working NFL contests for NBC (1991) and Fox (1994-1997).
As far as his NBA Summer Series duties are concerned, 2026 marks Harlan's 31st year as one of the Summer Series play-by-play commentators. Harlan originally called Summer Series games from 1991-2018, before rejoining the broadcast team for the 2024 season.
Allan Houston — Game Analyst:
Allan Houston is one of two game analysts for Saturday’s Celtics vs. Raptors broadcast. Houston spent 12 years in the NBA, with most of that time suiting up for the New York Knicks (following three seasons in Detroit from 1993-96). Houston was the 11th overall pick in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons out of the University of Tennessee. Houston is best known for his game-winning runner during the 1999 NBA Playoffs in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, stunning the Miami Heat, as his Knicks went on a memorable NBA Finals run being the No. 8 seed (the Knicks would lose in the Finals to the Spurs).
Houston lent his basketball expertise to a color commentary role for NBA Summer Series games from 1994-2001, partnering with play-by-play announcers Kevin Harlan (1994-99) and Brandon Mitchell (2000-01).
Tyronn Lue — Game Analyst:
Tyronn Lue, alongside Allan Houston, serves as a game analyst for Saturday’s Celtics vs. Raptors game. Lue brings extensive knowledge about the NBA, having played in the league before moving into a coaching role in more recent years. Lue, who played 11 NBA seasons for seven NBA teams including the Lakers, Wizards, Magic, and Hawks, won two NBA championships with the Lakers (2000, 2001). Lue was picked by the Denver Nuggets with the 23rd pick of the 1998 NBA Draft out of the University of Nebraska. Lue played his last NBA game in 2009.
A few years later, Lue decided to pursue a coaching career, starting out as an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics in 2011. Lue, of course, is best known for winning the 2016 NBA Finals as a head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers (replacing David Blatt in-season). Currently, Lue is the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, a position that Lue has had since the 2020-21 season.
Tyronn Lue served as a Summer Series game analyst from 1994-1999, mainly working broadcasts alongside the aforementioned Kevin Harlan and Allan Houston.
Pregame coverage for Saturday’s Celtics vs. Raptors game begins at 12:30 PM ET on Prime Video, with “NBA on Prime Pregame presented by CarMax”. The pregame show is led by host Jaclyn DeAugstino, Emmy Award-winning sportscaster Sarah Kustok, NBA All-Star Devin Harris, 76ers vice president of basketball operations Jameer Nelson Sr., three-time WNBA champion Candace Parker, and insider Jordan Giorgio. During the pregame show, Harlan, Houston, and Lue are scheduled to join the cast to discuss Saturday’s game and reflect on their six-year partnership in the mid-to-late 1990s.
After the Celtics vs. Raptors game, two-time All-Star Alperen Şengün and the Houston Rockets visit 2023 NBA Champion & NBA All-Star Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets at 3:30 PM ET/1:30 PM PT on Prime Video. Play-by-play Beth Mowins will call Rockets-Nuggets, joined by 14-year NBA veteran Jim Jackson and Orlando Magic guard Desmond Bane. Jacob Hardie (Nuggets) and Terrell Foster (Rockets) will report from the sidelines.
The Prime Video Saturday tripleheader concludes live from Chase Center in San Francisco as 2023 NBA All-Defensive team member Dillon Brooks and the Phoenix Suns take on four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, beginning at 6:00 PM ET/3:00 PM PT. Jeff Levering (play-by-play) provides commentary for Suns-Warriors with Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings (analyst), 13-year NBA veteran CJ McCollum (analyst), and Miles Thornton (sideline reporter).
