NBC Sports launches its 2026 college football schedule on Saturday, August 29, at 3:00 PM ET on NBC and Peacock, as the USC Trojans open their season at home vs. San José State. The following week, the Week 1 schedule of games begins on Thursday, September 3, when Eastern Illinois faces off against Minnesota at 8:00 PM ET on Peacock.
On Saturday, September 5, NBC begins its fourth season of Big Ten Saturday Night broadcasts, with Western Michigan traveling to Michigan Stadium to play Michigan at 7:30 PM ET on NBC and Peacock. In 2025, Michigan finished the regular season with a 9-4 mark, getting a spot in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, before losing to Texas 41-27. Kyle Whittingham is the new man in charge at Michigan, after more than two decades as the head coach at the University of Utah. Whittingham’s Utah teams have won at least 10 games in four of the past six full-length seasons (2019, 2021-25) (excluding 2020).
The following day, Sunday, September 6, Week 1 CFB coverage continues with a rare Sunday doubleheader on NBC and Peacock. At 4:00 PM ET, Washington State battles Washington in the annual “Apple Cup”. Following that, at 7:30 PM ET, Notre Dame hosts Wisconsin from historic Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in the “Shamrock Series”. This is the first time Notre Dame will play at Lambeau Field, named after Curly Lambeau, one of 63 Notre Dame players who went on to play for the Packers.
On Saturday, September 12, Week 2 CFB action includes a matchup between the Iowa State Cyclones and the Iowa Hawkeyes as part of Big Ten Saturday Night — at 7:30 PM ET on NBC and Peacock. Iowa has won seven of the previous ten matchups overall, but Iowa State has won three of the last four contests.
Then, in Week 3 (Saturday, September 19), NBC Sports will air a quadrupleheader on NBC and Peacock. Eastern Michigan enters a duel vs. Wisconsin at 12:30 PM ET on Peacock, followed by Southern Illinois-Illinois at 2:00 PM ET on Peacock, plus Curt Cignetti and the defending national champion Indiana Hoosiers battling Western Kentucky at 4:00 PM ET on Peacock. Last year, Indiana captured the school’s first-ever football title after going 16-0 and defeating Miami 27-21 in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Notre Dame matches up with Michigan State in the Week 3 primetime matchup on NBC and Peacock at 7:30 PM ET. This will be the 80th all-time meeting between these two programs, with Notre Dame leading the all-time series 49-29-1.
In a Black Friday primetime presentation, Minnesota travels to Madison, Wisconsin, to face Wisconsin as they continue the longest-running rivalry in Division 1 FBS on Friday, November 27, at 7:30 PM ET on Peacock. The Golden Gophers have claimed Paul Bunyan’s Axe in four of the last five seasons.
NBC Sports has officially announced its remarkable 36th consecutive season of broadcasting Notre Dame Football, featuring four primetime matchups. The Fighting Irish will face the Wisconsin Badgers at Lambeau Field on Sunday, September 6, and then play the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday, September 19. Additional highlight games include a showdown with the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, November 7, and a clash with the SMU Mustangs on Saturday, November 21. All games will air on NBC and Peacock. The Fighting Irish are poised for a strong season, with standout quarterback and 2025 Manning Award finalist CJ Carr, along with 2025 unanimous All-American cornerback Leonard Moore and 2025 unanimous Freshman All-American safety Brauntae Johnson leading the charge.
