- With the postseason set to begin next weekend, CBS will have several important games that will impact the final playoff picture, including Chargers vs. Broncos, Colts vs. Texans, Commanders vs. Eagles, & Jets vs. Bills, in terms of either the division winner (AFC South) or seeding (No. 1 seed in AFC; every seed from No. 2 to No. 7, except for No. 4 [will be decided on SNF]; & the No. 2 seed in the NFC if Philadelphia beats Washington and Chicago loses to Detroit).
- "The NFL Today" powered by RAM Trucks previews the final regular season Sunday of 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM ET on CBS.
- Mission To Clinch: C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans (11-5) host Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts (8-8) on Sunday, January 4 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS, as Houston looks for a division championship with a win and a Jaguars loss to the Titans.
- Foes In The West: Longtime AFC West rivals face off during the last week of regular season action as Talanoa Hufanga and the Denver Broncos (13-3) try to lock up the #1 seed in the AFC with a win over Tarheeb Still and the Los Angeles Chargers (11-5) on Sunday, January 4 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS.
- Hungry For Seconds?: Jalen Hurts and the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles (11-5) are in search of the No. 2 seed in the NFC for the second straight season (with a win + Bears loss) against Frankie Luvu and the Washington Commanders (4-12) on Sunday, January 4 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS.
Hi, everybody! A happy New Year to you all! Welcome to the Week #18 edition of the NFL on CBS: Field Pass! Sadly, this is the last NFL on CBS: Field Pass article for the 2025 season, as all postseason games will be televised nationally (thus eliminating the need for regional coverage). I have attached a special message for you guys at the bottom of this article.
On Sunday, January 4, CBS wraps up its 2025 regular season schedule with a jam-packed doubleheader. As per usual, all of CBS's Week 18 games feature divisional pairings, as rivalries heat up to close out the regular season. Seven games are scheduled for this weekend. In the early window at 1:00 PM ET, we have Packers-Vikings, Colts-Texans, & Bengals-Browns. The national doubleheader window at 4:25 PM ET features the following games: Commanders-Eagles, Chargers-Broncos, Jets-Bills, & Chiefs-Raiders. Which games will you see during the final Sunday of the 2025 regular season? Continue through the article to discover your answers.
CBS kicks off its football Sundays with the iconic "The NFL Today powered by RAM Trucks" pregame show at 12:00 PM ET. Veteran studio host James Brown gets the honor of hosting this pregame staple with a cast of analysts that bring tons of experience to the table, including the 2016 NFL MVP Matt Ryan, Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach Bill Cowher, and former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson. Additionally, lead NFL on CBS insider Jonathan Jones appears on the program to provide insight from around the National Football League.
Danielle Hunter and the Houston Texans (11-5) host Kenny Moore and the Indianapolis Colts (8-8) at NRG Stadium for a Week 18 AFC South clash on Sunday, January 4 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS. The #2 NFL on CBS crew of play-by-play commentator Ian Eagle, analyst and three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt, and reporter Evan Washburn will take the call of Colts vs. Texans from Houston. The Texans look to extend their eight-game winning streak and potentially secure an AFC South division title with a win coupled with a Jaguars loss. The Colts aim to finish their season with a road win over their AFC South rival.
Christian Watson and the Green Bay Packers (9-6-1) visit Harrison Smith and the Minnesota Vikings (8-8) at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Sunday, January 4, at 1:00 PM ET on CBS, with Spero Dedes, Adam Archuleta, & Aditi Kinkhabwala on the broadcast call.
Jerry Jeudy and the Cleveland Browns (4-12) duel against Ja'Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals (6-10) in the latest edition of the "Battle for Ohio" on Sunday, January 4 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS, with Tom McCarthy (play-by-play) teaming up with two-time Super Bowl champion Logan Ryan (analyst) & Amanda Balionis (reporter) for the call.
Troy Franklin and the Denver Broncos (13-3) play host to Omarion Hampton and the Los Angeles Chargers (11-5) in this AFC West confrontation on Sunday, January 4 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS, with Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (analyst), & Tracy Wolfson (reporter) providing the broadcast commentary from Denver. The Chargers were defeated 20-16 by the Texans in Week 17. The Broncos picked up a close 20-13 win over the Chiefs on Christmas night. This week's contest has significance for both clubs. The Chargers are competing with the Texans and Bills for playoff seeding. As for Denver, a win in Week 18 would give them the No. 1 seed in the AFC and home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. However, if Denver were to lose, the door opens for the Patriots and/or Jaguars to grab the top seed in the conference instead. Chargers QB Justin Herbert went 21-for-32 for 236 yards & a TD in Week 17 vs. the Texans. Chargers CB Elijah Molden had three tackles & first interception of season in Week 17 vs. the Texans. Broncos RB R.J. Harvey had 5 catches, 76 scrimmage yards (43 rush, 33 rec.) & a TD catch last week vs. the Chiefs. Broncos LB Jonathon Cooper had 4 tackles & a sack in the Week 3 meeting.
Saquon Barkley and the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles (11-5) host Von Miller and the Washington Commanders (4-12) from Lincoln Finanicial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday, January 4 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS, with Kevin Harlan (play-by-play), Ross Tucker (analyst), & Melanie Collins (reporter) announcing the NFC East action. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles try to move up to the No. 2 seed with a win and a Bears loss against the Commanders, led by rookie RB Jacory (Bill) Croskey-Merritt, who has eight rushing touchdowns on the season (including during the Week 16 Eagles-Commanders game).
Shaq Thompson and the Buffalo Bills (11-5) welcome Jermaine Johnson and the New York Jets (4-12) to Highmark Stadium for this Week 18 AFC East clash on Sunday, January 4 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS, featuring play-by-play announcer Andrew Catalon, analyst Charles Davis, fellow analyst and Super Bowl champion Jason McCourty, and reporter AJ Ross. The Bills saw their four-game winning streak get snapped heartbreakingly last week vs. Philadelphia, losing a 13-12 nailbiter. Plus, the Bills' streak of AFC East championships came to an end as the Patriots won their first division title since the 2019 season. Now, the Bills turn their attention to finishing the regular season with a win. The Bills can finish anywhere from #5 through #7 in the AFC playoff picture. Bills QB Josh Allen went 23-for-35 for 262 yards & had 2 rush TD's in Week 17 vs. the Eagles. Bills LB Matt Milano had 7 tackles & a half-sack in Week 17 vs. the Eagles.
Isiah Pacheco and the Kansas City Chiefs (6-10) visit Lonnie Johnson Jr. and the Las Vegas Raiders (2-14) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, January 4 at 4:25 PM ET on CBS, as play-by-play commentator Chris Lewis, analyst and three-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Kyle Long (the father of longtime NFL on Fox studio analyst Howie Long; making his "NFL on CBS" game analyst debut), and reporter Tiffany Blackmon call the game.
