NBC Sports is excited to present another season of Sunday Night Football; #1 primetime show for the last eight straight seasons. The network will present 23 NFL games this season.

NBC will televise the first game of the 2019 NFL season on the evening of Thursday, September 5 as Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears (starting their 100th NFL season just like the official league) will host Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers at 8:20 p.m in NFL Kickoff 2019. Obviously, Green Bay vs. Chicago has been the NFL's most played rivalry. The Sept. 5 contest will mark the 199th all-time meeting between the two NFC North stalwarts (first meeting was WAY BACK in 1921).

Then, on the first regular Sunday night of the new season, September 8, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots will raise their sixth championship banner prior to facing off with JuJu Smith-Schuster and the Pittsburgh Steelers at 8:20 p.m.

In addition to televising NFL Kickoff 2019; NBC will also present two preseason games in August: Falcons vs. Broncos in Canton (August 1) + Steelers-Titans (August 25), the Thanksgiving Night game between the Saints and Falcons (November 28), one Wild Card Game (January 4 or 5) & one Divisional Game (January 11 or 12).

  1. I think this will be one of those years where every game before Week 17 will stay in its current SNF slot. I do not remember if this has ever happened since NBC received the rights to televise SNF games in 2006.

    1. NBC did not flex any games out (minus the Week 17 flex-in, of course) in 2014 and 2017. So it has happened twice.

    2. 2017 also did not have a Sunday Night game in Week 17 at all

  2. This will be the first year since 2010 that a Cowboys vs. Giants game will NOT be televised on Sunday Night Football. The game has been demoted to Monday Night Football this year until both teams become elite at the same time again.

    1. Yup. That will happen when the Giants lose their best player in so many respects.

    2. Also the 1st time in a couple years that a Steelers Ravens game won't be on

  3. This is the first Bears-Packers game in primetime not at Lambeau since 2010. I wonder why.

    1. Probably because NBC wanted a change in locale, maybe?

    2. Well the biggest reason for it is because the Bears are celebrating their 100th season this year 🎉

    1. That's means flexible scheduling could change it a better game if they see one

  6. Will the Steelers-Chargers game get flexed?

    1. We'll see. Cincinnati-Pittsburgh on Monday night might decide on it. Possible Week 6 flex-in for SNF on NBC to keep in mind shall PIT-LAC get flexed out: Seattle @ Cleveland, Houston @ Kansas City or San Francisco @ LA Rams.

  7. Can an NFL Game be flexed twice? I know that question is confusing so i will give you an example. Since the NFL released their saturday triple header for week 16 and the bears and chiefs game could be flexed out of prime time i'll say by the raiders and chargers. Is that possible since they have already determined that the game will start at 4:05 pm ET and 1:05 pm PST?

    1. I think games only played on the same day can be moved; only games on Sundays can be rearranged. I think it causes way too many logistical problems if games are intentionally being moved between different days.

    2. Zach Sure. A NFL game can be flexed twice. But in the case of Raiders-Chargers though, I think that this game will be not on SNF.

    3. Thanks and ding ding that's it I was coming to let you know they've officially announced it earlier today San Francisco at Seattle has been flexed to Sunday Night next week because of the reason you mentioned obviously

  9. Bills-Steelers is in instead of Vikings-Chargers.
