Monday, April 7, 2025

  • The SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament returns for the fifth consecutive season on a full-time basis this week (Tuesday, April 15 through Friday, April 18), with ESPN and Turner Sports teaming up to televise all six Play-in Tournament games.
  • Teams seeded #7 through #10 in each conference (Eastern and Western) will participate in this mini-postseason tournament to determine the #7 and #8 seeds for the upcoming 2025 NBA Playoffs presented by Google.
  • On Tuesday, April 15, the SoFi Play-In Tournament begins on TNT - Trae Young and the #8 seed Atlanta Hawks visit Paolo Banchero and the #7 Orlando Magic (7:30 PM ET) to decide the #7 seed in the East (and which squad will get the tough assignment of facing the defending champion Celtics in First Round) followed by Desmond Bane and the hungry #8 seed Memphis Grizzlies playing Stephen Curry and the veteran-led #7 seed Golden State Warriors (10:00 PM ET) with the #7 seed in the West at stake.
  • Then, on Wednesday, April 16, the SoFi Play-In Tournament will continue on ESPN with two win-or-go home games. The doubleheader tips off at 7:30 PM (ET) on ESPN with the #9 vs. #10 game in the East. Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat (#10 seed) clash with Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls (#9 seed) as both squads face a must-win situation. Then, at 10:00 PM (ET) on ESPN, the #9 vs. the #10 matchup out in the Western Conference will be played. Anthony Davis and the Dallas Mavericks (#10 seed) travel to Sacramento for a Western Conference duel with Domantas Sabonis and the Sacramento Kings with both teams trying to keep their postseason dreams alive.
  • The 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament then wraps up with two games on Friday, April 18 with TNT and ESPN carrying a game each. Both games will see the eighth and final playoff spot in each conference get rewarded to the winners of these games.

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the beginning of the 2025 NBA postseason. Obviously, we are not officially in the playoffs just yet. However, the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament does signal that the actual main postseason draw is inching closer by the day.

This week, eight NBA teams will compete in the fifth annual Play-In Tournament to find out which ones will receive the #7 and #8 seeds in the upcoming 2025 NBA Playoffs. The #1 and #2 seeds in each conference will be observing this Play-In Tournament very closely, since their opponents will be determined via this tournament. The teams in this year's SoFi Play-In Tournament are: Magic, Hawks, Heat, Bulls, Grizzlies, Warriors, Mavericks, & Kings.

The 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament begins on Tuesday, April 15 with a doubleheader on TNT. At 7:30 PM (ET), Dyson Daniels and the #8 seed Atlanta Hawks compete in a Southeast Division Play-In matchup against Wendell Carter Jr. and the #7 seed Orlando Magic. The winner grabs the #7 seed in the Eastern Conference and will play the defending Boston Celtics in the First Round. The loser, meanwhile, plays on Friday night vs. the Heat-Bulls winner. 🎙 Brian Anderson calls the play-by-play alongside analyst and former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy and reporter Lauren Jbara.

In the Tuesday Play-In doubleheader nightcap on TNT, two familiar postseason foes get together once again as Desmond Bane and the #8 seed Memphis Grizzlies travel to San Francisco to play four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler III and the homestanding #7 seed Golden State Warriors at 10:00 PM (ET). These two teams are tussling in the postseason environment for the third time since the 2020-21 season. The victorious team secures the #7 seed and earns a trip to Houston for a First Round date with the Rockets. The team that falls short must prepare for a win-or-go-home on Friday evening vs. the Mavericks or the Kings. 🎙 Kevin Harlan (play-by-play), Hall of Famer Reggie Miller (analyst), & Allie LaForce (reporter) will provide commentary.

The 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament will resume the following evening, Wednesday, April 16, with a doubleheader of game action over on ESPN. To begin the night's lineup, at 7:30 PM (ET), Tyler Herro and the #10 seed Miami Heat head north to the Windy City of Chicago for a must-win Eastern Conference duel versus Kevin Huerter and the #9 seed Chicago Bulls. The winner keeps their season alive and advances to Friday's 8th Place Game vs. the #8 seed Hawks. The loser sees their season come to an abrupt end. 🎙 Wednesday's Heat vs. Bulls Play-In commentary team on ESPN features Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer play-by-play commentator Mike Breen, Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Doris Burke, fellow analyst and 2016 NBA Champion Richard Jefferson, and Cassidy Hubbarth reporting from the sidelines.

After Heat vs. Bulls wraps up, ESPN is set to move out to the West Coast for the second game of Wednesday's Play-In slate. At 10:00 PM (ET), Klay Thompson and the reigning Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks (#10 seed) strive to keep their season alive against DeMar DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings (#9 seed) from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. Whoever survives this Western Conference battle will earn an additional game in the Play-In Tournament on Friday night vs. the #8 seed Grizzlies. The team that drops this game sees their playoff run end. 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Dave Pasch is joined by analyst Tim Legler and reporter Jorge Sedano for commentary duties.

The 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament culminates on Friday, April 18 with the final two games of this six-game mini-postseason tournament.

TNT will televise the first matchup on Friday evening, beginning at 7:00 PM (ET), as Zaccharie Risacher and the East's #8 seed Atlanta Hawks host Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat (#10 seed) for a chance at the East's final remaining postseason berth from State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. 🎙 Ian Eagle is on play-by-play commentary with analyst Greg Anthony and reporter Stephanie Ready.

The 2025 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament grand finale takes place on Friday night at 9:30 PM (ET) on ESPN following TNT's coverage of TBD vs. Hawks. Jaren Jackson Jr. and the West's #8 seed Memphis Grizzlies welcome in Dereck Lively II and the Dallas Mavericks (#10 seed) to FedEx Forum in Memphis for a matchup that will resolve who will lock up the final playoff berth (#8 seed) in the Western Conference First Round. 🎙 The commentary team of Dave Pasch, Tim Legler, & Jorge Sedano call their second game in three days.

MLB on Fox: On Deck | Fox begins their historic 30th season of MLB coverage with regional action on Saturday, March 29 at 7:00 PM ET on Fox (Mets vs. Astros or Braves vs. Padres)

Monday, March 24, 2025

  • Spring has Sprung: Fox resumes their time-honored tradition of televising Major League Baseball games during the traditional Opening Weekend of the MLB season with regional coverage on Saturday, March 29, beginning at 7:00 PM (ET): Mets vs. Astros or Braves vs. Padres. This follows FS1's presentation of the Twins vs. Cardinals game earlier in the day.
  • MLB on Fox at 30!: Fox Sports kicks off its 30th MLB season this weekend, reaching an important milestone in the network's baseball coverage.
  • H-Town is hot 🔥 with two 2024 MLB Postseason teams: The newly renamed Daikin Park in Houston plays host to two clubs looking to make it back to the postseason in 2025 as Francisco Lindor (pictured above) and the New York Mets wrap their three-game series against Jose Altuve and the defending AL West champion Houston Astros on Saturday, March 29 at 7:00 PM (ET) on Fox.
  • All-Star ⭐ Talent Converges in San Diego: Three-time All-Star Ozzie Albies and the Atlanta Braves continue their four-game series at PETCO Park in San Diego vs. six-time All-Star Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres on Saturday, March 29 at 7:00 PM (ET) on Fox.

Welcome back, everybody! I hope you enjoyed the baseball offseason. As a side note, I miss putting together these regionalization articles weekly. I was so conditioned to do so during the football season, and ever since January (when the NFL's regular season ended), this blog really has not had much content to put out. However, the blog production is set to pick up starting this week with the arrival of the 2025 MLB season.

Once again, if you would like to read this type of content and if baseball is a sport that you care deeply about, then TamirMoore.com is the place for you as we begin another MLB season together. Every week, we will tackle articles surrounding Fox's regionalization of baseball games on Saturdays (and select Thursdays too in the late summer/early fall timeframe).

This Saturday, March 29, our friends over at Fox Sports will hit the air for the first time this season with live coverage of Major League Baseball. In fact, Saturday's primetime slate (starting at 7:00 PM ET) is the conclusion to what should be a fantastic Saturday of baseball coverage across the Fox Sports family of networks (Fox and FS1).

Fox's Saturday baseball coverage commences at 2:00 PM (ET) over on FS1 as Christian VÇ»zquez and the Minnesota Twins participate in an interleague series with Nolan Arenado and the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. Saturday's contest is the second game of a three-game series between the clubs. Play-by-play announcer Connor Onion and game analyst Tom Verducci will provide commentary.

Then, flip over to Fox for some Saturday primetime baseball at 7:00 PM (ET). Most of the viewing audience will see new Mets acquisition Juan Soto lead his New York Mets into a primetime clash with Jeremy Peña and the reigning American League West champion Houston Astros from Daikin Park in Houston, Texas. 🎙 Play-by-play commentator Joe Davis, analyst and Hall of Famer John Smoltz, and field reporter Ken Rosenthal start their fourth season as Fox's lead MLB commentary team with their assignment of Mets vs. Astros this weekend.

Some of you will be going to San Diego to check out two teams that faced off against each other last year in the MLB playoffs. Michael Harris II and the Atlanta Braves pick up their West Coast road trip at PETCO Park for a Saturday night game against Fernando Tatis Jr. and the San Diego Padres, starting at 7:00 PM (ET) on Saturday night on Fox. Of course, Atlanta and San Diego matched up last season in the National League Wild Card Series, a series that San Diego swept in two games. 🎙 On the call for Saturday's Braves vs. Padres game on Fox will be play-by-play commentator Jason Benetti and analyst AJ Pierzynski.

Below, you will find links to this year's MLB on Fox Schedule and the 506 Sports Maps that my man JP Kirby will publish at some point this week. Hope these resources help you tremendously!

2025 WNBA on ESPN Schedule

Thursday, March 20, 2025

  • Must-see matchups highlight the 2025 WNBA on ESPN Schedule, including 10 appearances for the Indiana Fever, nine for the reigning WNBA champion New York Liberty, eight for the Las Vegas Aces, six for the Chicago Skyand five for the Minnesota Lynx.
  • The opening weekend of the 2025 WNBA Season sees the Las Vegas Aces visiting the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty (1:00 PM ET, ABC) and the Chicago Sky clashing with the Indiana Fever (3:00 PM ET, ABC).
  • The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game from Indianapolis airs on Saturday, July 19 at 8:30 PM (ET) on ABC & will be made available on Disney+ for the very first time.

On Thursday, March 20, ESPN and ABC, in coordination with the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association), announced their 2025 regular season broadcast schedule. ESPN, which has televised WNBA games since the league's beginning in 1997, starts its 29th season of coverage on Saturday, May 17, with an expanded slate of studio and game coverage across several Disney platforms, including ABC, ESPN, ESPN+, and Disney+

Throughout the 2025 season, ESPN will televise up to 55 WNBA games, starting with a 26-game regular season game package from mid-May through early September and continuing through the WNBA Playoffs presented by Google. Once postseason play begins in September, the Walt Disney Company (TWDC) media platforms will have the rights to up to 29 games, including the newly extended best-of-seven format of the WNBA Finals presented by YouTube TV.

Star-Studded Opening Weekend action on ABC:
ESPN's 2025 regular season live game broadcasts begin on Saturday, May 17 with a doubleheader on ABC, ESPN+, and Disney+. To get the afternoon started, the two-time WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces will fly out east to square off with the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty (1:00 PM ET, ABC/ESPN+/Disney+). Before the game, the Liberty will raise their 2024 championship banner and host a ring ceremony. As you know, New York and Las Vegas have faced off against each other in the last two WNBA postseasons, during the 2023 WNBA Finals presented by YouTube TV & the semifinal round of the 2024 WNBA Playoffs presented by Google.

A'ja Wilson, the only current player in the WNBA to have three MVP awards, has a new running mate in Las Vegas in two-time WNBA champion Jewell Loyd. Loyd is scheduled to make her Las Vegas debut in this matchup following a decade-long run with the Seattle Storm.

Later in the afternoon, 2024 WNBA All-Rookie Team pick Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky began their season in Indianapolis against 2024 Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever (3:00 PM ET, ABC/ESPN+/Disney). This matchup will be highlighted by the Sky debuts of WNBA champion Courtney Vandersloot and Ariel Atkins. In addition, Fever head coach and current ESPN analyst Stephanie White makes her Fever debut following two seasons as the Sun head coach. Sky head coach Tyler Marsh gets his first taste of WNBA head coaching in this one.

What's new for the WNBA on ESPN in 2025:
  • ESPN picked up one more additional regular season telecast for a total of 26 regular season games, up from 25 in 2024.
  • The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game will occur on Saturday, July 19, live in primetime on ABC, ESPN+, and for the first time ever, Disney+. The game, which will have a 8:30 PM (ET) start time, will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the home of the Indiana Fever.
  • The 2025 Kia WNBA Skills Challenge and WNBA Starry 3-Point Contest will be televised on ESPN on Friday, July 18 (8:00 PM ET). Furthermore, ESPN+ and Disney+ will stream live coverage of this event for the first time.
  • ABC's record-high 13 regular season game telecasts will be streamed/simulcasted on ESPN+.
  • Select contests will be made available through Disney+, including the opening weekend doubleheader on ABC and ESPN+.

Once again, WNBA Countdown by Google plays an important role in ESPN's WNBA coverage. The pregame show, which debuted during the 2022 WNBA playoffs, is back for its third full season with at least 14 programs leading into game telecasts. WNBA Countdown by Google makes its debut this summer for ESPN's 2025 Kia WNBA Skills Challenge and WNBA Starry 3-Point Contest on Friday, July 18 live from Indianapolis.

Additional WNBA on ESPN 2025 season highlights:
  • The 2025 WNBA on ESPN schedule promises extensive coverage, featuring exciting matchups throughout the season.
  • The Indiana Fever, which boasts four 2024 WNBA All-Stars, will play 10 games across ABC and ESPN. The New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces, whose rosters include a combined seven 2024 WNBA All-Stars and four 2024 All-WNBA Team selections, will appear in nine and eight games on ESPN platforms, respectively.
  • The WNBA's newest franchise, the Golden State Valkyries, will make their ABC debut on Saturday, June 7, when they host the Las Vegas Aces at 3:00 PM (ET). The Valkyries, who held their expansion draft in December, selected players Kate Martin, Stephanie Talbot, Kayla Thornton, and Cecilia Zandalasini. Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase will compete against her former team, while 2024 Kia WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson could be approaching 5,000 career points.
  • On Saturday, June 21, the two new acquisitions for the Phoenix Mercury—WNBA career triple-doubles leader Alyssa Thomas and two-time WNBA All-Star Satou Sabally—will be featured on ABC for the first time, facing the Chicago Sky at 1:00 PM (ET). This matchup will also showcase Mercury forward Kahleah Copper, a 2024 All-WNBA Second Team selection, returning to the Windy City, where she helped the Sky win the 2021 WNBA championship.
  • ESPN will broadcast when the Connecticut Sun, who played in front of a record audience in their inaugural game in Boston last season, host the Indiana Fever on Tuesday, July 15, at 8:00 PM (ET), live from the TD Garden in Boston. Indiana's new head coach, Stephanie White, will face the team she coached during the 2023 and 2024 WNBA seasons.
  • A spotlight will shine on No. 1 overall picks when the Dallas Wings take on the Indiana Fever on Sunday, July 13 (ABC, 1:00 PM ET) and Tuesday, August 12 (ESPN, 8:00 PM ET). The Wings will have the #1 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm in April. Whoever the Wings draft #1 overall will complement a Dallas roster that already includes two-time AT&T WNBA All-Star Game MVP Arike Ogunbowale and 2024 Kia WNBA Most Improved Player DiJonai Carrington. Indiana's roster features Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, the last two No. 1 overall picks in the WNBA Draft.
  • After the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, the WNBA schedule will resume with an ESPN doubleheader on Tuesday, July 22. The Indiana Fever will take on the New York Liberty in the first game at 8:00 PM (ET). The nightcap at 10:00 PM (ET) will feature the Las Vegas Aces competing against the Atlanta Dream, who have recently acquired 10-time WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner and three-time WNBA All-Star Brionna Jones. Griner and Jones' addition enhances Atlanta's team, which includes 2022 Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year Rhyne Howard and two-time WNBA All-Star Allisha Gray.
  • On Wednesday, July 30, at 8:00 PM (ET) on ESPN, the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty will visit Naphessa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx in a rematch of the 2024 WNBA Finals presented by YouTube TV.

When the 2025 regular season wraps up on Thursday, September 11, ESPN is set to team up with the WNBA to broadcast every single WNBA Playoff game and WNBA Finals games. Comprehensive coverage of the WNBA Playoffs presented by Google and the WNBA Finals presented by YouTube TV will have up to 29 games across ESPN platforms.

On Thursday, the WNBA officially disclosed their national broadcast schedule for the upcoming 2025 WNBA season. The 2025 WNBA season marks the 29th season of play for the predominant league for women's basketball. Of course, the WNBA is coming off a historic 2024 campaign and looks to continue that success this season. As you might expect, the WNBA on CBS schedule was announced today and we are going to talk about right here on this blog. There will be eight games presented on the CBS broadcast network over the course of the 2025 WNBA season.

The WNBA could not be more popular than right now with the excitement around the sport at an all-time high. Several metrics that document this include the highest attendance over two decades and the most watched season in nearly a quarter of the century! Folks, the WNBA is FINALLY getting the respect that it rightfully deserves.

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert talked about the historic 2024 WNBA season and a little taste of what is to come this year. “The WNBA is coming off a 2024 season in which incredible basketball and countless memorable performances paved the way for the WNBA to deliver a record-breaking season,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. “Now, with so much excitement around the player movement that took place this winter through free agency and trades, the WNBA’s broadcast and streaming partners in 2025 will spotlight the league’s superstars, rising stars and must-see matchups like never before.”

CBS will get their 2025 WNBA coverage underway on Saturday, May 24 at 1:00 PM (ET) when three-time WNBA champion Breanna Stewart and the reigning WNBA champion New York Liberty clash with Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Then, two weeks later, CBS will broadcast a historic WNBA game on Saturday, June 7 when Elizabeth Williams and the Chicago Sky host DeWanna Bonner and the Indiana Fever at 8:00 PM (ET) at the United Center in Chicago. As I mentioned earlier, CBS's telecast of Sky-Fever game marks the first time that a WNBA matchup is scheduled for a primetime slot on network television. An additional Chicago-Indiana game will have a primetime spotlight on Saturday, August 9 when the same two clubs battle in Indianapolis.

Several teams will have three appearances on CBS this season, including the Chicago Sky, the reigning WNBA champions New York Liberty & and the Indiana Fever.

On Thursday, March 20ESPN and ABC, in coordination with the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association), announced their 2025 regular season broadcast schedule. ESPN, which has televised WNBA games since the league's beginning in 1997, starts its 29th season of coverage on Saturday, May 17, with an expanded slate of studio and game coverage across several Disney platforms, including ABCESPNESPN+, and Disney+

ESPN's 2025 regular season live game broadcasts begin on Saturday, May 17 with a doubleheader on ABCESPN+, and Disney+.

  • The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game will occur on Saturday, July 19, live in primetime on ABCESPN+, and for the first time ever, Disney+. The game, which will have a 8:30 PM (ET) start time, will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the home of the Indiana Fever.

Hi everyone! With the start of the 2025 baseball season less than two weeks away, the time has come to begin tracking the schedules for another network that carries live MLB Baseball games. As you know, we already keep a close eye on the schedule and announcer pairings for FOX Sports (FOX and FS1), Turner Sports (TBS), ESPN, and Apple TV+.

And now, let's add another station to this mix — MLB Network. MLB Network has produced a package of games called the "MLB Network Showcase", which dates back to the beginning of the MLB Network in 2009. In a nutshell, these games are contests that MLB Network produces on its own and provides a "national" spin on them, in terms of the announcer assignments, score bugs, graphics, etc.

I would like to thank one of my loyal TamirMoore.com visitors Jonathan, who goes by the Blogger username AaronJudgeMVP29 for the inspiration to launch this article! I hope you guys enjoy it!

  • Apple TV+'s "Friday Night Baseball" primary commentator crews - Alex Faust (play-by-play), Ryan Spilborghs (analyst), Tricia Whitaker (reporter)/Wayne Randazzo (play-by-play), Dontrelle Willis (analyst) & Heidi Watney (reporter) - return for the third consecutive season. Hello, everyone! We learned today that Major League Baseball (MLB) and Apple officially revealed that "Friday Night Baseball", a weekly Friday doubleheader game package, will be returning for the 2025 season (the fourth consecutive season that Apple TV+ will be televising MLB games). Baseball fans all over the country can enjoy a pair of riveting matchups every Friday evening for 25 weeks during the regular season. These broadcasts will have a high production quality, a pair of dedicated broadcast crews, and zero restrictions for the participating teams from a local market standpoint.

The 2025 season of "Friday Night Baseball" begins on Friday, March 28, the first Friday night of the new season, with some of the league's biggest names scheduled to play in the national spotlight. Live game coverage begins at 7:00 PM (ET) when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays take on All-Star Adley Rutschman and the Baltimore Orioles in an American League East matchup. In the second game of the first Apple TV+ Friday doubleheader of the campaign, Juan Soto and his new-look New York Mets travel south to play Jose Altuve and the Houston Astros at 8:00 PM (ET).

The game schedule for the first several months of "Friday Night Baseball" on Apple TV+ through Friday, June 27 have been announced (you can find out which games are slated for a Friday night national broadcast between March and June towards the bottom of this article). Some of the important matchups include - a World Series rematch between the Yankees and the Dodgers, the Lone Star Showdown between the Astros and the Rangers & two games featuring the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers traveling to the East Coast (at Phillies & at Mets).

“We’re thrilled to bring another season of ‘Friday Night Baseball’ to Apple TV+, with top-tier production quality that baseball fans love,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Sports, and Beats. “This season, we’re excited to offer an amazing lineup of games with no blackouts, available across more devices than ever before.”

For the third straight year, 'Friday Night Baseball" on Apple TV+ will have two separate commentary crews to work each game of the doubleheader. One broadcast team has Alex Faust (play-by-play), Ryan Spilborghs (analyst), & Tricia Whitaker (field reporter). The another announcing crew features Wayne Randazzo (play-by-play), Dontrelle Willis (analyst), & Heidi Watney (field reporter). The studio team of host Lauren Gardner, analyst Russell Dorsey, & analyst Xavier Scruggs are slated to return to provide pregame and postgame coverage throughout the season. Furthermore, host Siera Santos will sub for Gardner on select Friday nights and Rich Waltz will be used as an additional play-by-play commentator, replacing Faust or Randazzo, for select games this season.

"Friday Night Baseball" is produced in partnership between the MLB Network and Apple's live sports production team.

Apple TV+ subscribers can view "Friday Night Baseball" on the Apple TV app, which comes preinstalled on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, and Apple Pro, as well as online at tv.apple.com.
