The Wild Card Series has been concluded, and now the 2025 MLB Postseason marches ahead to the best-of-five Division Series, beginning this weekend (Saturday, October 4).
The first Division Series was locked in on Wednesday night after the Los Angeles Dodgers made quick work of the Cincinnati Reds, sweeping them out 2-0 in the NL Wild Card Series.
Then, on Thursday, the remaining three Division Series were finalized following a three-game winner-take-all Wild Card schedule. The Detroit Tigers defeated the Cleveland Guardians in the do-or-die Game 3, meaning that Detroit now gets ready to face the AL West champion Seattle Mariners in the ALDS. The Chicago Cubs were able to fend off the San Diego Padres to set up an NLDS against their divisional rivals, the Milwaukee Brewers. And the New York Yankees blanked the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 of their series to advance to the ALDS matchup against the AL East champion Toronto Blue Jays.
Saturday's Division Series schedule begins in Milwaukee, as the NL Cy Young Award candidate, Freddy Peralta, along with power hitter Christian Yelich, lead the NL Central champion Milwaukee Brewers (No. 1 seed) against Dansby Swanson, Michael Busch, and the Chicago Cubs (No. 4 seed) for Game 1 of this best-of-five series at 2:00 PM ET (1:00 PM CT) on TBS. Alex Faust and 1986 World Series champion Ron Darling team up for the series, with field reporting from Lauren Jbara. The Cubs edged the Brewers 7-6 in the regular season series and took out the Padres in a three-game Wild Card Series to qualify for this round.
The American League Division Series gets started in the late afternoon on Saturday as Trent Grisham and the New York Yankees (No. 4 seed) visit George Springer and the AL East champion Toronto Blue Jays (No. 1 seed) in Game 1 of this American League Division Series, at 4:00 PM ET on Fox, with the lead "MLB on Fox" team of Joe Davis (play-by-play), Hall of Famer John Smoltz (analyst), and Emmy Award winner Ken Rosenthal (reporter) providing commentary for this AL East Division Series. The Blue Jays took eight of 13 games from New York this season to claim the tiebreaker over the Yankees and take hold of the AL East crown.
Once primetime arrives on Saturday night, we have a fantastic National League Division Series set to kick off. Exceptional talent Shohei Ohtani is set to pitch in a postseason game for the first time ever in a marquee best-of-five series. Ohtani is joined by teammates Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts as the NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers (No. 3 seed) meet the NL East champion Philadelphia Phillies (No. 2 seed), powered by their respective sluggers Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, at 6:30 PM ET on TBS, as Brian Anderson (play-by-play), Jeff Francoeur (analyst), & Lauren Shehadi (reporter) describe the action throughout the duration of the series. This is the first time that the Phillies & Dodgers have played in the postseason since the 2009 National League Championship Series.
Saturday's Division Series schedule finishes in Seattle, as Kerry Carpenter and the Detroit Tigers (No. 6 seed) collide with Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodríguez, and the AL West champion Seattle Mariners (No. 2 seed) at 8:30 PM ET on FS1, with play-by-play announcer Adam Amin, World Series champion (2005) and analyst AJ Pierzynski, fellow World Series champion (2006) and analyst Adam Wainwright, and reporter Tom Verducci announcing this American League Division Series. The Mariners grabbed their first AL West title since 2001, thanks to Mariners C Cal Raleigh's 60 home runs (setting a new mark for a switch-hitter). The Tigers triumphed over their divisional rivals, the Guardians, in a three-game Wild Card Series, winning the series 2-1.
After Saturday's Division Series games, live coverage of the League Division Series continues through at least Wednesday, October 8. If necessary, additional Division Series games will be played between Wednesday, October 8, and Saturday, October 11.

For the FOX Portion of the ALDS:
ReplyDeleteJoe Davis, John Smoltz and Ken Rosenthal will call ALDS1 (Blue Jays Series)
Adam Amin, Adam Wainwright, A.J. Pierzynski plus Tom Verducci will call ALDS2
sorry if I'm being a ass here, but when you mention if there is only 1 nlds game 4, you have it on CBS, it should be on TBS. and the other thing is due to a rain delay, the mariners vs tigers is starting at 7:00 PM on FS2
ReplyDelete@royalsfan No, you are fine. My mistake. CBS haven't televised MLB since 1993.
Deleteit started on FS1, then moved over to FS2 at 8:00 PM EST
ReplyDeletedue to Phillies dodgers now currently going to the 11th innings, cubs vs brewers is going to be starting on a different channel because tru TV is probably still simucasting Phillies dodgers also
ReplyDelete@royalsfan MIL/CHC started on TNT and eventually moved over to TBS once the PHI/LAD game was finished
DeleteAs a Phillies fan, I'm feeling absolute pain and disgust right about now
I feel your pain, Tamir
